Really pleased to see the big manufacturers entering the drift space! I definitely think this will bring more people into the hobby which is awesome . Great video too as always! 🥳
You nailed it! “bring people into the hobby” This car with Traxxas marketing will help bring new people to the segment successfully. It’s a car that’s easy for anyone to drive. Other hobbyists are so focused on it not being a competition car that they’re missing that bigger picture. Traxxas never claimed it to be a competition car. It’s a car for the general fun-haver that can help build the segment even more.
I am extremely surprised by this one. Traxxas and Team Associated both just released an RWD drifter.
The Associated car looks like a true drift chassis not a recycled parking lot basher 4tec.
Yeah and both are at least a decade late to the party lol.
Definitely a coincidence
and arrma soon
Losi is next
Am I the only one who prefers standard body clip system? For people who enjoy aftermarket bodies and the world of painting/fitting bodies the body post systems gives you much more options
Adds alot of weight to a 1/10 touring car.
Clipless is pretty decent on the bigger platforms though.
Don’t you wanna buy a $60 body from traxxas?
The clipless system is great for offroad bashers. Drift guys all run magnet mounts anyway, so we'll just ditch the factory mounts when the stock body comes off.
It's compatible with Traxxas's adjustable body posts for the standard 4-tec 2.0. You should be able to put virtually any body you want on it.
Nope love my slash with clips. Only works with the Scorched RC liners anyways
Super sharp looking RC. The body is absolutely perfect. Nice design overall. Awesome job covering the car is such wonderful detail.
Man that blue color is fire.
About time.
Only been waiting years for the one. Looks promising. Gives me 80% of what I want with Traxxas quality and support for a fair price. I’ll be buying this. Very excited
330 for a brushed? I’ll stick to rmx or the redcat one
Redcat isn’t in the same league. Redcat is like ordering a Coke and getting an RC Cola.
@@TheImtoomuch the redcat is so much better than this car lol. this traxxas is worse than a tt02 with an mrc conversion
@@TheImtoomuch DEFF NOT REDCAT IS ALOT BETTER RC THEN THIS
@@TheImtoomuch trx fanboy
Huh coke is shit now because of their no sugar bs and watered down compare to rc cola
Good job on the garage drift track! Fake it till you make it!!!
Wish I had a real track closer. I’d be there A LOT! lol
Thats awesome Greg! Thanks for yet another great review. 👍
Recently got my brother into the slash, hes all happy about clipless and new 2bls brushless. New people to hobby dont want brushed setups its 2024. Just saying...
The vxl system would cog so bad trying to drift and overheat quickly. The bl2s system wouldn’t be drivable with the cogging that it exhibits. Just saying….
For drifting you definetly need a sensored brushless system, and Traxxas doesn't offer that. So they went with brushed.
Great for beginners but you’ll soon want to sell it and buy an RMX or RDX. Nice body! Can’t wait to see your review on the Team Associated DC10!
@@mikeruhlRDX will perform 10x better than this in my opinion. One of the positives is that you get to pick your electronics instead of having to buy this at $329 and then having to spend another $200+ on electronics if one doesn’t have anything to swap over which in turn make this a $500+ chassis. If one would have just bought a Yokomo, RDX, Sakura, GRK chassis and have something perform equal or better. It will still be interesting on how this chassis plays out once in people hands and seeing how it performs on a Ptile surface like at SuperG.
Traxxas saw a TT02 with the MRC kit and thought, we can make this and charge 3X the price.
Traxxas is on a roll lately, i have no doubt, although im not really into drifting, i know traxxas as do you, i have no doubt this is the tip of the iceberg im sure they will come up with another couple of body sets, i love me some ford's!!! But not all do lol, i cant wait to see what body set is next, and i truly think its a very good priced machine from what youve showed us, great job yet again brother!!
Between this and the Modified, they’re going after some of the smaller RC niches lately. Is a solid axle 1/10 monster truck in the works?
Tractor coming soon heavy equipment.
@@TrokaRCthat's about the only way they could make anything slower, lol.
A big part of the drift scene (as with the full size cars) is customisation. All the proprietary parts Traxxas insist on putting on their stuff just prevents this. So many better & purposely designed drift cars out there if you look outside of the Traxxas brand.
This is an RTR solution not for the typical wannabe drifter who would opt got a dirt cheap 3 Racing chassis.
Also Tamiya/HPI/Kyosho drift cars aren't much cheaper. The Kyosho is the cheapest at around $250.
@@dj4monienone of those have a drift chassis you know that right? Those are all 4wd which aren’t really considered a drift chassis. The most compareable RTRs would be Yokomo RD 2.0 RTR and MST RTR drift chassis. Tamiya TT02 really transforms to a drift chassis once one does the MRC conversion, if you don’t know the kit it basically replaces the front end to a proper setup and changes the chassis from 4wd to Rwd. After watching this video you can see the car is struggling to drift or at least that’s what I notice.
Wow that’s nice I’ve just recently got into the rc hobby but I’m loving it so far I have a small collection as of right now but I’m not finished yet
Good the chassis bucket can be changed like the standard RTRs as I wanted to build a drift version of my car. Building a custom Chevy Caprice that is 290mm wheel base and I like the fact that we can do the same with drift system. Will be making a chevy caprice wagon as a drift car using that platform
This needed a much more cooler body. Hope they sell a conversion kit (for a reasonable price...)
Anti Mustang/American car eh?
I’m American that doesn’t mean I like mustangs
Do you think that they will make an angle kit for the existing 4tec? Do you think parts will be interchangeable? Up there?
All the parts will be available separately. I didn’t see a kit listed among the new items though.
Looks like these parts would swap over, but it also looks like about 1/3 of this car is different too. I would probably just buy the new car vs swapping my now VXL equipped 2.0 or 3.0 over.
I think that car would also do great as a drag car with all that steering technology they put in there
Traxxas making fun. Nice car.
I hope you do a complete overview video of the new assoicated DC10, saw the preview video and it look promising.
Thanks Greg!
I like team associated it goes fast.
For anyone curious, the “drift tuned” titan 21t either had 0 degree or forward tilt. The old titan 12 was a 0 degree I believe, and the trx4 21t is a reverse rotation meaning the tilt is in the other direction. Tilting the rotor windings improves efficiency and power in that direction at the cost of worse performance in the other direction.
Tsm receivers are weird. After a while the steering just starts turning by itself at a stop. Hopefully it's updated for these drift cars since they rely heavy on countersteering
Wow, love this new car!!! Might get one!!!
I think we should be done with brushed electronics in anything but a lighter weight crawler.
Decent car definitely will be nice with some upgrades
The AE DC10 should be much more of a competent drifter and, I think, $40-$50 less. All Traxxas did was put drift tires and a body on a 4Tec and anyone can do that! Ok, I'm being a bit facetious. I mean, not a bad effort on Traxxas' part but if you have any inclination to get more serious into drifting, there is absolutely no way to upgrade this car and you start all over again. Still, a great way to get people into the hobby and a lot of people won't want to go hard core drifting so, there's that (but I still think AE is a much more compelling choice).
I want an orange one
did they just put a drift sticker on the motor hahah
btw still no innovative stuff from traxxas just reskin and minor changes as usual and also of course, overpriced
Yessir! Thanks for this review!
This is so cool, like it 🤤
Excellent video greg you rock
Sweet!
Looks really cool
Awesome 👍👍
I've been thinking about all the new tech that makes things 'easier'. these software assists; are they making the play better, more fun, or just easier to get that instant gratification? it reminds me of the foc/sine rather than learning throttle and steering control the hard and original way. As a training tool I can see it useful, but in the end, is it better? I guess it can be for everyone since it can be turned off
Have you tried it with the vxl systrem?
Hey Greg when are you reviewing the hornet evo?can’t wait brother
What happed to the 4wd drift cars? I had a yokomo when I was younger
Traxxas wants 350 for this and not $329? Need to know some legit places to order one of these. Great vid btw
Yo i was thinking the other day when we get the next 4 tec and hopefully with a new Mustang body 🤩
Smartphones read your every thought... 😝
Still the same goof radio? C'mon Traxxas give us a radio worth of the vehicles. Even if it cost 50 dollars more I would like to see something better that can be adjusted on the fly. Even something like the DX3 would be better. The drift car is sick though! I love it!
I hope losi's drift car is better for seasoned drifters atleast
I just dont think it should cost more than the 4x4 vxl 4tec....
Hello,
Go drift with ATD racing.
Wheels for 1/8-1/7 RC cars.
It's a new dimensions for gymkhana and drift RC univers 😀
Why didn't they put the BL2 on
Why did they go with a brushed motor for a drift car that you constantly have to stay on throttle for?! The motor definitely will burn out quick
trx is cheap thats why lol
With rubber tires on asphalt the rears will smoke and throwing in brushless
😮 new car
Not a drift guy, but beautiful body!
Gyro. The heart of a drift car is the gyro. So where is the heart in this car? It just doesn't look like a drift car... not even close to smooth enough. Looks like it would be impossible to tandem.
Anyone know how fast it is
The link from traxxas is so annoying 😂 have to keep updating the firmware otherwise it won't work 😭 jezzz this is why we all go Dumbo💯
I wonder how long tires last?
I want one
Yeah I’m not a fan of this setup. Looks cool and I’m sure it’s will sell a ton, but people will buy this, then upgrade to real drift chassis.
Sweet…😮😮😮
It’s really annoying they didn’t make the front and rear offsets the same.
Traxxas does this on a lot of their rear motor off road cars. Maddeding to swap tires unless they just include a "taxxas" offset.
@@BeardRubEnjoyer it’s kept me from buying some models for sure. I’m wondering now though if they are actually different widths front and rear or if he meant the wider wheels go on the rear and it came out as they’re different offsets.
I wonder if you can make it a street car? Interesting 🤔
lol nice try traxxas but this ain’t it. Get a MST / YOKOMO / REDCAT rtr instead. More bang for your buck
Could've at least put the BL2s in there... Mst all day!
Can you buy drift tires or wheels for the infractions?
No. Just more power and hoons silver.
At least they gave me tqi in TSM
Sorry hate to judge. But i have easy ober 1000 hours drifting. This car is not it. Get yourself a mst rmx, or a redcat for entry level drifting. You can upgrade those chassis to pro level atleast.
Only idiots will pay the price it's going for 506.99 CAD for a few bucks more you can get a rtr MST brushless set up for 50.00 less you can get the MST brushed version way better cars from a top end brand in drifting
who will buy this over a RMX 2.5?
$165 = car with esc/motor
$165 = transmitter/receiver
Yokomo is way better than what I see here
lol🤣
worst rc drift chassis i've ever seen, especially for the price
Something tells me that I am wasn’t lucky. 😅🤦🏾♂️
Traxxas stability management. Don’t they need that in the real mustangs? I seen the vids.
Could be a new business partnership with Ford 😂
Can't go fast OR take any jumps - looks very boring. But it's a great LOOKING car!
You should test it against the new associated drift car and people don't want to put the bl two system in it. That motor is to slow for that use.
« THE FUTURE IS BRUSHLESS »
Yeahhhh right……..😑
Tt02 rwd conversion > traxxas drift car
Traxxas you didn't just put that speed control on another car
This doesn't look exciting at all... The video was great though. Very detailed.
Beautiful looking body, shame it's 2WD and slow.
Bruh you made it look good but that thing sounds like trash
Naaaah this chassis gonna make us rc drifters look bad😂, team associated one seems to have better options and tuning capabilities similar to yokomo and reve d but we’ll se what happens
This chassis isn’t about “us drifters” it’s about getting a total newb that’s never touched an RC before into RC and drifting. The majority of total newbs can’t handle those other cars. This is the gateway in. It’s an opportunity to grow the segment more, but existing hobbyists are missing that bigger picture.
@@rcdriver understandable well hopefully it matches up to at least a yokomo rtr, traxxas is a big brand so it’ll be more noticed compared to the existing drift brands out there
Big no for me
Team Associated’s Drift is way better than
…and cost 2-3x more before you can even turn it on.
@@rcdriverGet what ya pay for though
@rcdriver This comes across as being defensive of your sponsor. $330 for a brushed RTR is not reasonable. That's 30 bucks worth of motor and ESC.
@@TheRCBuildersPost You haven't even driven it.
@@BeardRubEnjoyerin the TC world it is, Kyosho is $260, no names like Red Cat are $300 with car shells that aren't very scale.
I wonder why they didn't do the 2s brushless system for this?
Brushed has more low-end control and torque. Easier to control at lower rpms. Brushless is all or nothing
@@Krapper515that is the farthest thing from true. If it was true built crawlers wouldn’t use brushless and neither would the yokomo guys.
First off.. this is NOT a true drift platform at all.. second.. you talk to anyone in the real rc drift community and each and every one will tell you that(including me) that you don't use a brushed system in drifting.. it has far less control than even a cheap brushless system has let alone a censored system
@CharlieJohnston-qp7qm but you need sensored brushless. And traxxas doesn't have a sensored system.
Because you need sensored brushless for proper drifting.
Waste of money
Am I the only one stupid enough that thinks this needs the vxl 3s system.
Looks like a failed attempt on drift car but fixable i’ve seen tamiya cc01 converted into rwd drift car and it works so maybe you can customize this one
You failed to mention how it’s actually a failed attempt. It’s an entry level drift car, it’s easy for anyone to drive and it drifts. That was their mission.
Looks boring……traxxas needs to do better.
Unfortunately @RC Driver the whole comment section are fully of people who haven't driven this car.
this car is a sad attempt from traxxas, there is literally nothing going for this chassis. there are much better options out there for beginners, like 3 racing kits are miles ahead while being cheaper. this is what $330? if thats true then just get an rmx rtr and avoid this trash haha
To be fair, this car is a money grab from traxxas because it’s as good as garbage after about a month. What it is good for, is getting new people into the hobby. Hopefully they stumble into an rc drift track and get put on the right path. The exposure the hobby is getting is a good thing though.
Yea nice looking drift car but brushed electronics for the same price range as the other drift cars on the market with brushless electronics... Most of us already have our own electronics but for those getting into the hobby don't If it was me n I was just getting into the hobby I would go with the team associated drift car.. imo
not a drift car, not enough angle.
Really? So all the old drift cars that used standard TC front ends during the evolution of drift were not really drift cars either then? This has more angle than they did.
It's just a harder to recover drift car. 60 degrees is usable. Def not leading in the rc drift car market. But it's a huge improvement from a 4wd rc
I drift the stock VXL with drift tires and 500k diff fluid. Only thing it’s missing is this angle!
@@rcdriverI hope they make an angle kit to add to the 4tec
You seem like in highschool you were insufferably obsessed with Subarus
Easily the worst rwd drift car on the market. Even the name sucks...it should be a 2 tech
Why would they make it a mustang it's a import car sport and now I need a special body to fit the clip less
Bummer on the lame mustang body
Better than a 240z or some stupid euro car 🤦♂️
No BL-2S system🤔….
🤘🏼🤘🏼
It doesn’t make sense that it doesn’t have the bl2s to me.
For 330 it should. Traxxas is the most overpriced things in the hobby
@@The_RC_Guruit’s so they can drop that in a few weeks for another 150$ added to the price 🤦🏼 i love my sledge maxx and mini erevo but I’ll stick to my mst rmx 2.0 for my drift car.
@@carsandfunnys5750 I am surprised they included the Bluetooth parts.
@@The_RC_Guru now the link enabled already that’s a bonus and doesn’t look like a bad setup with a steering angle kit throw in a xd10 pro esc and d10 motor but at that point there’s other options however I’m excited to see maybe next version or an actual cf chassis drift kit
