Glad to hear your dad is alright. I lost my dad 2 months ago. It's been a struggle ever since. I'm thankful I was able to be with him in his final moments. My dad and I were very close, and we did so much together. One of the toughest things to deal with is that I always strived to make him proud, whether it be something I was doing around the farm or working on projects at home or something neat that happened at work. Now that he's gone it feels like I'm just existing. Spend as much time with your dad as you possibly can.
Lost my dad January of last year. Regret not spending more time with him. Today is his birthday though. Man worked for 46+ years as a diesel mechanic for one trucking company. Got the big C 2 years after retirement. 6 months later he was gone.

What you said about spending time with your dad is true, I lost my dad little over 2 years ago at 14, the thing I think about most is the fact that I could have spent more but I didn’t, don’t take for granted what you have, cause it could happen at anytime.

Grew up in Wyoming around loggers and got taught (forced) to drive a skidder when I was 9😄 scared the living sheet outa me but was a memory for life.

I too have this crazy fasination of log skidders. The abuse they take and the power they have to drag tens of thousands of pounds at one time with ease is something else.
I ran skidder for a few years. It's a badass machine, you feel damn near bulletproof driving it.

15 years ago my family and I left Ontario for a summer on the road we had planned for over a year. The only thing we didn’t foresee was my dad being diagnosed with cancer and beginning to go through all the treatments and such. We were going to call our trip off but my parents insisted we go…and we did. We saw the same areas you highlighted and more. We took our RV all the way to the Yukon and Alaska…what a great trip for the wife and I and our two boys. I know my parents hid how bad dads cancer really was as he did not make it to Christmas. He did give us the gift of a great trip though and we love him for that and a whole lot more. Appreciate your family and friends mongoloids…they are all that really matters.

Glad to hear your dad is doing better. My wife, who I actually like had a close call last month, in the hospital, ICU, it was scary how life could go from being normal to sitting beside a hospital bed wondering if your going to be planning a funeral. I agree with what Peg said, try to spend time with your family, sooner or later they will be gone.

I had a similar experience as you but mine went the other way. She was in a nursing home for therapy and trips to hospital for chemotherapy but on july 5th got a call stating your wife was rush to the hospital. Jump in the car a drove to hospital where I was told she had a third stroke AND an infection. Needless to say she passed on july 21 of 2021. Like you your whole world changes about what to do. It's been 2 years and still trying to figure that out.

I have dreamt my whole life of driving a Skidder. I’ve done everything operated cranes, run bobcat, excavators, bad ass cars,big ass trucks, Jeeps but I’ve never been in a Skidder and it’s all I’ve ever wanted to do, that’s the one job I cannot see myself ever getting tired of
They aren't all that complicated to run kinda boring honestly

Yes I agree, spend time with your Dad. I lost mine just before the new year and I am still reeling from it. Its a long story, but he hung on as long as he could after Mom passed in late 2019. As for the Dodge, I am a Mopar guy and was more upset about the trailer lol. - Jamie
