The best part of these videos is the sound. Thank you for not covering your machines over with any music or background. Your television program has been an inspiration for me since my childhood.
For sure
I did a ton of tinkering like the hunkin, I wish I knew about his work sooner than Age 52
Tim and Rex are true geniuses! Always have been! The original myth busters!
Tim thank you for all you have done with you great knowledge of electronics and engineering, always loved your tv show, thank you.
If you are not able to smile after seeing Tim,s machines, please visit your Doctor. This man is inspirering.
still remember some of these machines in the secret life of machines episodes... brings back great memories. Tim Hunkin is one of my heroes
Just brilliant!!!
Jean Tinguely and Tim Hunkin - all the culture you need.
10 minutes well spent - very cheering on a grim December's day here in Old Grotty.
Thanks Tim!
The world would be a better place if there were more creative people like Tim and less bankers and money obsessed people.
Ok but who is going to pay for the parts and the workshop
really enjoyed the dancing record player
I love the tiny figures in the circuitry! I can imagine those gents building these giant machines to keep time for their civilization. Too cool, really enjoyed this. Thanks!
Oh if we could just rewind 50 years and give Tim access to 3d printers and modern micro controllers, just imagine what wonderful things we would have.
mmh, no, im knows very well microcontrollers and 3D printing, bu he chosed o use mechanical contraptios and PLC because these devices are used all year long by the public and need to be very strong and reliable. All the contrary of what you can do with a 3D printer. And for simple automation micrcontrollers are not better than PLC, actually they are not as good because these systems usually work with 12V or 24V and decent amount of current for motors and actuators, leading to a lot of back EMF, which microconttroller will nto like unless the circuit is designed to handle it? Using a PlC is simpler because it is already rugged.
Tim Hunkin - The Ivor Cutler of the mechanical world. Tim, its always a pleasure to see your work.
I need to go to sleep and get up early for work but I cannot stop watching these great videos!
Fantastic machines, Tim. An inspiration!
These are some older machines with large electric motors....imagine what Tim can come up with using modern high torque miniature motors.
It's nice to know he didn't go crazy in his old age. He started out crazy. Haha. I wish I knew enough to create machines as he has
So great to see you on CZcams! I loved your show as a kid growing up in the U.S. Thank you for sharing your creations and knowledge with us!
Yay! haha I like Goliath very much!! Very satisfying . Second place: The Medieval Clock. : )))
Funny to see all these coin operated machines that our elders remember seeing in the fairgrounds during the 40s and 50s, I guess thats what This guy saw as a kid.
It'd had been forgotten for long enough to make it look different to the 80s teenagers then more familiar with space invaders and pack man machines
Not being maudlin, but I've never saw such an outpouring of respect and gratitude to anyone on CZcams as I have to Tim Hunkin. I wonder if he has any idea how many people he helped to inspire?
I recognized a lot of these from the show, The Secret Life of Machines. Thanks for sharing!
He amazing - he started making these contraptions (sorry - machines) when he was eleven!
Pure Genius.
I love the mediaeval clock; a total work of art.
These are delightful!
Such great work/art/engineering!! It’s really great to have people like you in the world Tim!!
I adore Tim hunkins he's sooooooo clever
Wow, these are great !!!
a true evIl genius at work .
Thank you Tim, everything is amazing.
Amazing creations
Absolutely next level😊
Dancing record player. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I like that they're coin operated
Nice to see your inventions again. I remember an incredible wild boar/pig that was a safe. Brilliant.
good job...
from Italy with love !!!
It's still 10 mins well spent - and now it's SPRINGTIME.
I took my children to an exhibition of automata in Manxhester many years ago, which featured works by Hunkin and other inventors. We loved it!
Love this!
Bleedin' marvellous!
Brilliant !
Couldn't wait for SLOM to come on every week, awesome Tim and Rex!
And I'm pretty sure you showed Goliath The Nutcracker in an episode of Secret Life of Machines. I'd love to know how you get the ideas for all your machines. It's wonderful stuff watching how you make them and seeing the finished product at the end. Brilliant.
GENIUS!
Awesome Tim. I think that Gladys machine would do a better job than my guard dog!
Brilliant.
Brilliant
The automatic bag searcher, finally! I've been trying to work out what it was after seeing it on the Secret Life of Components introduction video. The rummaging motion tickles me every time.
Awesome
I loved the Medieval Clock! I wonder if Tim would sell it...
There's bound to be way more than this!
Very odd and curious and clever
wow i found out rex garrod made brum for bbc1 in 1990 or something..cool!!
miss serect life of machine on 4 channel 1980s
Elite.
Gladys gives a similar vibe to Terry Gilliam's Monty Python animations, but obviously she came first.
These inventions capture the imagination Tim. So well done and full to overflowing with character! But...37k views and just 44 comments & 400 likes? WTH! Lazy people sitting on their typing fingers!
The oldest known machine is the wedge or lever.
Asimo from Honda is not so charming. Excellent work thanks
How about revisiting his secret lives series? Truly inspirational.
How much time did you devote to each of these witty and ingenious inventions, Tim? Did it pay?
if by "clear out" you mean these machines were broken up for scrap, you might consider offering them for sale in the future. you may have gotten more for them by selling them to collectors. I may have been interested in some of them.
Did Tim make the music for the dancing record machine?
What does this thing do??
My goodness, too much p
are these ever featured in the pier?
and the winner is.... 1:28
Gladys > glad0s
I yawned.
What a load of rubbish!
