Spring on the CPKC River Sub - 2024 | Winona Area Trains

- CPKC is our hometown railroad, so we catch it a lot. This video covers railroad activity along the CPKC rail line that runs the course of the Mississippi River.
The CPKC stands for Canadian Pacific Kansas City and is the result of a merger between the KCS and CP.
Spring on the CPKC River Sub has been very fruitful this year. A lot of good railfanning moments to list off and over an hour of footage. It's all trains with a little barge activity mixed in - spring means the return of navigation season on the Mississippi River.
If you like railroad action in the wilderness of bluffsided river valley, look no further!
Highlights include:
- A few SD9043MACs rolling DIT as they go down the river to get cut up in East St. Louis.
- The NS Wabash SD70ACe heritage unit rolling west on 255
- The Canadian Pacific Every Child Matters orange GEVO leading train 148 east at sundown
- The stunning KCS 4006 SD70ACe in its old glory flag scheme leading a train down the river - Auta a dopravní prostředky

Thank you, Jake! The river sub gets about 18 trains per day. At least that’s the figure they used when they merged.
