From the back of the VHS box:
"Bathurst, 1988, was an horrendous experience for me and my ANZ Sierra Team.
I've been to The Mountain many times, but it's something I'll never forget. My first attack on the race was in 1969 at the wheel of a Factory GT-HO Falcon and I've been fortunate enough to win the classic endurance race four times.
The closest I have ever come to not winning was 1988.
With co-drivers, Greg (sic) Hansford and Klaus Niedzwiedz, we stamped our authority on the race, mounting a carefully planned approach.
We led for 99 laps and there was no way anyone could have overhauled us on the road - we had it in out hands.
And, then, within sight of the flag, a five dollar head gasket failed, and our chances went out the window. It was an awful moment.
The agony of watching the mechanics trying to re-start the car while another driver took the lead was, perhaps, the most hurtful moment of my long motor racing career.
Initially, I didn't like the idea of a professional video crew watching my every move at Bathurst, but the idea has worked well.
For me personally, it's a harrowing and powerful reminder of Mount Panorama's ability to bite, and bite hard.
This video will open your eyes to what it takes behind the scenes to win - or lose - the 1000 kilometers of Bathurst" - Allan Moffat
I don't own the copyright to this video, but it also hasn't been available for purchase in decades.
Footage is deinterlaced from VHS at 50fps.

As the person who put the film together, let me add a. brief note on Moffat's emotional display in the Bathurst pits post race. As the camera rolled, I could sense that he was close to tears. A female ANZ communication expert who was was watching the unfolding scene, grabbed me by the arm and demanded that the camera shut down. I ignored her and I'm glad I did. Moffat's heartfelt emotional display about the viciousness of Bathurst was simply amazing. Moffat had the guts to put his raw emotions on public display. I admired him then and I still admire him now.

Les, that's a marvelous comment. Well done you for keeping the camera rolling. And you are quite correct in saying that he's a better, and greater man for showing his emotions. I came to racing too late to see any of his races as they happened, but I have nothing but respect and admiration for him. I understand he has dementia now, but is being well cared for., as he should be.

Incredible story, thanks for sharing. And thanks for putting the film together.
I always loved it as a kid, watched it multiple times and it was so good that when I got some old tapes from my parent's place I had to get it uploaded it when I couldn't find it online anywhere.

Going back and watching the old ATCC and Bathurst races you always saw Moffat cool and composed, wether he was winning or losing, so to see him so emotional and fighting off tears is so unnexpected. Great documentary.

yeh well,, holdens have to win,,even if they ''legally'', cheat.. all the time.. brock raced a sierra, without ford badges,,says it all.. most holdens, toranas, commodores ran ford 9'',, no fkn salisbury or 12 bolt, would stand up to that.. hq racing, using ford cranks.. holdens are a fkn joke.. sierra, 4 laps ahead, banned,, holdens, with side draughs, legal.. 9'' diffs, v8 brakes on 6 cyl,. but thats o.k.. eh..

The guy was great for his time and he deserves all the credit and accolades such as the OBE he received. @@gavinwj7923

Watched this movie on the train and bus yesterday but saved the last 15 minutes for before I went to sleep last night, because I knew it would be heartbreaking. A couple of things I’d like to mention:
    1) Has no one taught him to make his bed before he leaves the house in the morning?😳
    2) The part at the end when he shows his feelings and says he loves his team is extraordinary in such a hard nosed business where any expression of such emotion is considered weak and unmasculine. It really touched my heart.

Strange that you should describe him as sook. It's good to be able to cry and importantly show and talk your emotions. Just look at the damage to people and relationships that occurred with previous generations not talking. But Moffat is a great man and should be recognised as such.
