@Sir Sam You are not wrong but in this case that's not the issue. The figure would still have the same amount of articulation points DST is allowed to put on their Marvel Toys, they were just poorly designed.

Damn, I passed on this because of the articulation but now I'm 100% getting one. Diamond should send you a check, you just single-handedly sold a bunch of these I think from reading the rest of the comments haha

Daniel Brent I got the Legend version and I took the head off and heated it and punched in the pointy parts of the jaw closer

I like seeing videos like this, about modifying figures to increase mobility, been doing that myself with my NECA Godzilla figures. Also, I can personally attest to the need to be careful using the Xacto. Sliced my left hand palm Easter of 2014, had to go to the emergency room just as dinner was ready. 7 stitches, but thankfully no real damage other than a scar.
I'd be interested in seeing the mods you made to your NECA Godzillas.
@@privateprivate31337 I don't have any pics taken of them, but they mostly involve trimming and digging out plastic around where parts plug in. That way it gives a bit more elbow bend, a little more range in shoulders, and like on my '64 Goji, I managed to get him to kick up and out in front of him at pretty much 90 degrees. Does he really need that kinda range? Probably not, but its neat to have it.
Nice, Neca's Godzilla figures have been improving but they are a bit limited in posing. They are almost at Monsterarts quality these days.
two years late to the party but I finally did it. Got my hands on the re-issued Spidey earlier this year and finally got the time to do this modification. Watched your video at least 20 times ever since you uploaded it. Can't begin to express my gratitude for making this video. Keep doing a great job!

If you are willing to put some work in it can be a really nice figure but even if you aren't it's still really good.

I heard something about Diamond Select not being able to get lots of articulation into their figures because of some legal reasons, not 100% sure on that tho
I don't know, man, this doesn't make sense
That more about points of articulation. Rather than range of motion. I think it was back in the day, they had to have less than a marvel legends of that same character. now a days they seem to have close to the same amount of points (this guys basically just missing butterfly joints and boot cuts)
Ramz that only has to do with how many points of articulation they can have now how far the cut into the sculpt

You did a great job. I used this as a guideline for modifying the M Select Superior Spider-Man. It's not built the same, but it is better and yeah, it's a great mod.
Did it actually help doing on that MS Superior Spider-Man? The body looks too basic for modification

OMG. This is awesome. I’m terrified to do this to mine. Realistically how hard was it? Did you use the Dremel?
It's pretty easy if you take your time and relax. I was able to do it with just an x-acto knife. A Dremel would just be quicker

Great Spidey mods! It amazes me how just trimming a little bit of plastic improves the articulation so much? You gotta wonder, don't they have someone during the process saying "How bout we go ahead and carve a little more?", lol. Especially when its parts that are separate pieces anyway. Makes a world of difference.

Wow! You made some serious alterations to this figure that worked out for the best. Congrats! I am waiting for Mafex's version to this PS4 Spiderman suit! Why Mafex? Their figures fit in nicely with Marvel Legends especially their Spiderman figures!

I did this mod to my figure today, and it worked perfectly. Though I used a hairdryer to disassemble the figure, still I’m glad that I can get my figure into crouching poses.

I love how clean your cuts are. On his neck, sure you can see the cut from the back, but I’d argue it looks like a Marvel Legends hinge joint almost so it doesn’t look too out of place on a figure

Just finished working on the articulation for this Spider-Man and I must say it really improved it by 50 percent. Only suggestion is if someone is doing this they should do subtle cuts and test it out to make sure they are not leaving big noticeable gaps when it’s all said and done.
This video has finally convinced me to order this figure! I'm hoping he looks amazing next to my 2020 Monster Venom!

Thanks! I do have the Rhino but I am not sure if there is anyway to improve what's going on there.
I found a video of somebody making a few improvements in the head and legs but still needs more in the torso and is a shame because is a great looking figure. You can pretty much get the same look with a table, some purple posterboard, a couple lights and some creativity/experimentation. Not sure what his exact set-up is tho. It really is a nice clean look, I've done something very similar for photographing my figures
Marvel select should hire you for articulation check and modify
McFarlane figures have the same problem, a little trimming and you can get so much more torso articulation.

Yeah the house of m spidey is nice but that buck doesn't allow as much posing as I would like on a Spidey figure. It's definitely tough to get that one to crouch.

I just got mine and it's awesome, I will try to do this but I'm only 14. Also the blue seems bright but that's how it looks during the day in the game. Though at night in the game it's darker.
How long do you reccommend you leave the figure in the hot water for?

i know alot of stuff like this get the hell nit-picked out of it during the licensing process.
Whereas a lot of the creators that actually make the figures want to give to the fans what they want, but the licensing has such wording in it that literally straddles them and keeps them from being able to do what would sell the figure. ???

Welp, it's kind satisfying to see this, 4-5 yeats ago, i've got the TASM2 Diamond Select, when I see his images, I was so excited to buy it, and expected some very great articulation, Ok, here, I have to say I still loving this figure, I have so great memories with him in hard times, but I was dissapointed with the articulation, the head doesn't move up and down, the torso doesn't move up and down, the arms has just one joint, but I loved the details, so... Yeah, Diamond Select has figures of quality, and this PS4 Spider-Man has the most accurate anatomy and design to the game, it would be dissapointing if this figure has weak articulation. (Wich he has).
