I’m sure you have addressed this before but I’m wondering why you prefer a regular paint brush over a water brush?

I have moved away from a water brush, because I want to be able to control how much water is on my brush. Granted for this technique it doesn't matter as much, although the water brushes I own don't hold as much water on the bristles as this no. 3 round brush does.
