- Episode 61: ‘Days in the Caucasus’ and ‘Parisian Days,’ part one and part two of Banine’s autobiography, are a vivid portrayal of the author’s tumultuous life, first in Azerbaijan, and then in Paris, before, during, and in the aftermath of the Russian Revolution. Part one is a masterpiece, but part two pales in comparison, leading me to wonder how a writer of Banine’s caliber might have been better curated by the publisher Pushkin Press.
