曲が良い。自分的にはオズの魔法使いで主人公が家に戻るシーンで流れていたのが最も印象的。この曲の歌詞については原曲(英語)の方が好きかな。でも日本語版の方もとても良く訳されているし、名曲には変わりない。

日本語版詩は、文語調で格調高いのですが、どうしても男性による望郷の感があります。英語版は詩は平易て大変庶民的な表現です。それ故親しみ易く女性かたの望郷の歌にも合います。幸せは富でなく、細やかながらも助け合い支え合いがあった家族愛にある事を感じさせます。

I just watched the excellent 1955 film the Burmese Harp and I was wondering what the soldiers were singing. The Japanese lyrics are even more powerful in the simplicity of their emotion. Thank you for making this video.

Is there a Japanese song named "Miyako no sora" that you can find somewhere and post it up for us to hear? I only know this song thru the novel "Harp of Burma" (Michio Takeyama) and I can't hardly imagine why this song has moved so many in Japan.

Thank you so much for your kind comment! As for the song, its original title seems to be "Miyako no sora ni kochi fukite," and it was a dormitory song of a secondary educational institute. I found only two videos of the song on CZcams: czcams.com/video/vXsUWvCsJnY/video.html and czcams.com/video/0Uh4KGFjSn4/video.html. It was made during the time of war between Japan and Russia, and the lyrics were encouraging Japanese people to win it (and Japan won). So I think the song sounded so courageous to Japanese soldiers during the war era. But the song is almost forgotten now, and I heard it for the first time, too. I hope this information is helpful for you!
Thank you for introducing this Russian song to me! Yes, it is an interesting coincidence that the two songs sound similar in some way.... Thanks to Slavianka, I remember an episode in the story "Harp of Burma": During WWII, a troop of Japanese soldiers battling in Burma was surrounded by English soldiers. The Japanese, ready to die, started to sing "Hanyu no yado" thinking of their home country, and then English soldiers also began to sing "Home, Sweet Home" together. Then they stopped battling and the Japanese troop surrendered. I love this episode, even if it may be fiction.
I read the novel "Harp of Burma", yet didn't have the opportunity to watch the movie. And yes, the novel also described how moved the British (and their colonial subordinates) was when they heard Hanyu no yado, and began to sing this song in their English version. As for Slavianka's originating time (1912), which was long after Russia lost the war to Japan, I truly think the Russian has done what they always do best: copying other people ideas and modify those into their own need to make people think it was the Russian who first made those "inventions". Be it ever so humble, there's no place like home! I've come to like the word 'humble' after listening this song. I had had an image about it poor/dirty/stingy/bad image before, but now I'd feel bright the word 'humble' due to the image being clean/calm confidence.
