      Me after reading your comment: "wait... I can put commercials DURING the video?!?!?"
      Just kidding ;) hehe
      My videos do have ads before them, but I would find ads very distracting in the middle if I were watching it trying to learn about the structure of a juggling practice, so I chose not to do that on this one! Thanks for noticing :) And you're right, I'm definitely able to do that because of Patreon! Thanks Otters!

    Its a pleasure to see a full juggling practice of you. There is some real juggling! This is what works for me: I do a lot more small breaks between the attempts. E. g. I let my arms and brain rest (think nothing, take a sip of water, shake my arms without balls) for 10-20 seconds between longer runs of 7 balls or 5 ball siteswaps. More smaller breaks keeps the focus and quality of the attempts. Then I would move the balance exercise from the end to the very beginning, it will help finding your body center and posture for the session. Learn balancing a club and juggling up to 5 balls, I promise, this will boost your juggling skill. And maybe it helps to throw the 7s higher in 744 for 5 clubs. Good luck and keep on!

    I wonder if anyone can do it, or if it requires a big chunk of raw talent. I'm assuming the latter. Not just anyone can become a good pianist, for example, no matter how hard they might work. You've got a special gift for this Taylor, in addition to your work ethic. It's a pleasure to watch!

    • @TaylorTries
      @TaylorTries  Před 4 lety +5

      I think anyone can become a really good juggler with time and deliberate practice. I firmly believe that. I don’t think I’m a particularly “talented” juggler, there are many others who outshine me in almost every “talent” way. I have put a LOT of time into it, and I try to intentionally practice smart techniques for learning. My coordination may be slightly higher than the average person, but even that I think is developed over time, not necessarily an inherent talent. :)

    Beautiful! And only hard tricks at that. Would you say that 3b training becomes obsolete after a certain threshold, to the point where you're better off just spending that time on more difficult stuff?

    • @TaylorTries
      @TaylorTries  Před 4 lety +4

      I think it depends on the type of 3 ball training :) I tend to personally focus on higher numbers when I “train”, but I still practice learning new 3 ball tricks at home during the day! For me, I treat training like an exercise and tend to do the most physically exerting tricks I am working on. But at home I still work on tricks that require more creativity and less muscle/endurance, and I’d say that’s when the 3 ball stuff usually comes out for me. But I know many great jugglers who put just as much time into pushing their 3 ball training and learning difficult complicated tricks!

    • @TaylorTries

      Thanks! No I’ve never had a juggling trainer or anything, but I do attend a lot of workshops at conventions and festivals throughout the year. So even though I’ve never had a consistent coach, I’ve learned a lot from friends and mentors over the past 15 years that I keep with me :)

    I have the henrys pirouettes and have never tried

    And great video!

    • @TaylorTries
      @TaylorTries  Před 4 lety

      I asked Henry’s this at EJC, and they said the unwrapped handles were pretty much the only difference! The loops have unwrapped handles, the pirouettes have wrapped handles. I use the unwrapped handle Henry’s because I find them slightly lighter and easier on my hands :)

    What do you think about practicing sitting down so you don't have to reach down constantly?

    • @TaylorTries
      @TaylorTries  Před 4 lety +2

      I practice sitting down sometimes! Usually when I want to really dial in a trick. Sitting down is significantly harder because you can’t use your hips as much and your arms can’t go down as far. For most of the tricks I practice in this video it’d be really difficult and not worth it to practice sitting down. But I do it sometimes, like with 5 ball Mills Mess for example I practice sitting down a lot so that when I do it standing it’s much easier :)

    • @TaylorTries

      Stretch beforehand! I stretch before and after every training session. Especially stretch your hamstrings, wrists, shoulders and neck!

    • @newlyborncorn
      @newlyborncorn Před 4 lety

      Another great tip is to learn to do a kick up. It demands less time and energy once you become proficient and it also looks pretty cool. I'm guessing Taylor might have done that, had she not been wearing shoes.

    • @TaylorTries
      @TaylorTries  Před 4 lety +2

      I do kickups throughout the video ;) And yes learning kickups are a good way to save energy when picking up props! But I do find that kickups also utilize your hamstrings and still require good stretching.
