They’re releasing a G.T. Cut Academy this year as well. Seems to be a lower cost version.
Got mine a few days ago excited to play in them
It’s been amusing seeing the reaction to Zoomx in basketball. It completely changed the running shoe industry overnight when it came out. It’s the highest energy return ever in a consumer midsole. It’s not as resilient as air zoom but it will give back way more energy.
When he says that there wasn't any bounce back (energy return), I almost stopped the video. Hard to trust any of his reviews at this point. Especially with a few people who have played in it and reviewed it that I trust more.
Well yes and no. Zoom x is used in long distance running and not sprinting. Sprinting better represents the force put into the ground when you jump and they use zoom air for top sprinting spikes. So I wouldn’t be surprised if these weren’t as bouncy as other shoes
I’d still prefer zoom air
@@joshhutton9534I think he needs to really break the shoe in and emphasize heel strikes to break in the strobel board. It’ll be hard to believe he won’t feel the zoomx after that.
@joshhutton9534 correct me if I'm wrong but reviewers aren't allowed to make definitive reviews until the product has been out for a bit which is why this is a 'first impressions' video. I'm sure once he does the full performance review he'll talk about the energy return
Maaaaan IDK what this review was thinking but this is the BEST shoe I've ever put on for basketball! It feels like a running shoe in basketball shoe form on foot! Do y'all selves a favor and go try it on, and then make your decision!
I usually live these reviews however I have to strongly disagree with this one as I bought mine last night then went and played in them... They are phenomenal! I will be 50 in June and have replaced both hips going on 7 years now and these are hands down the BEST shoes I've ever laced up, and that's coming from the WOWAC11's sunrise color way, and the KD14's before that that were my go to shoes but were just a bit too bouncy/squishy whereas these are perfect!
Definitely an upgrade from the 2 regardless of any downsides

How does the cushion feel compared to the PG 6?
3 has the best looks imo but that 2 piece rubber outsole killed it for me. That is prone to early outsole seps specially on the heel part. They didn't need to cut it separate but did it anyway👎 A few games outdoor and that heel outsole would be history not for long
190 is crazy for this shoe. Zoom x is great but when you cage it like that it makes the cushion pointless. Should’ve done a mesh strobel like you mentioned, or found a way to do a drop in zoom x midsole kind of similar how li ning does drop in boom.
So way of Wade still the best hoop shoe. I do like the look of the gtcut3 though

There are too many nice choices for hoop shoes at the moment. Nike, Adidas, NB, Puma and the Chinese brands. Everyone has lifted their game.

No actual zoom for $190, yikes. If possible, a review of the GT Cut Academy would be nice. Curious if it's a legit budget option, or absolute shit like the flytraps were (since it seems flytrap-like).
Zoom x more expensive than soon hence the price but not necessarily better for the hard cuts and jumps of basketball, but we’ll see

I'm 5'5" and ABSOLUTELY LOVE these shoes after one trip to the gym! Our court is notoriously dusty and these performed like a combo of my KD14's traction withOUT all that crazy off balance bounciness and my WOW AC 11's for the energy return keeping my muscles and joints protected and fresh rather than stiff sore and weak afterwards!
The court feel is wickedly comfortable with fast heel to toe transition as well as lateral stability and movements were a 10/10...
Can't wait to go back tonight! They're the most fun shoe out of the box I've ever bought, they SERIOUSLY feel like what I've been waiting for for the longest which is a Nike runners shoe with basketball court qualities!

Traction is ridiculously on point! Go try them on and ask to take them off the carpet like I did and then when you but then bc they fell crazy comfortable and fun take them to a dusty rec center court like I did mine last night for 2+hours playing in them and then come back and leave a comment... I am gonna be 50 this year and have had both hips replaced... These ARE legit!

Funny you don't like the cut 2. I live in Beijing, and it has to be the most popular shoe to play in over here. You see them everywhere, and people love them. Personally though I am looking for a more maximal shoe. I'm still playing in the OG GT Jump. I skipped the 2. Give me a Jump 3!

with the gt cut 2s they're an awesome shoe you just gotta break them in for like a month. the break in time is ridiculous but its worth it in my opinion
I’ve been telling people this but for the money it shouldn’t take that long. It literally took like 3 weeks of playing 2-3 days a week for mine to break in. The cushioning of the 2 is way better than these, I wish people wouldn’t have complained about the cushioning of the 2. Like why would you be mad they’re giving you full stacked cushioning for the price?
@jrdatrackstar seems like everybody wants to feel the floor but have great cushion, which is impossible in my opinion..
@@GeoJ1830 True, but in my experience that little extra bit of speed you gain really isn’t worth bad knees, back, etc. It’s good we have choices to match all our preferences, but seems like all Nike had to do was lower the thickness just a bit of the React midsole/insole of the 2 and call it a day. That would’ve fixed the initial heel slippage and still given close to the same cushioning they were intending.

I was the same way till I bought them and tried them for a few weeks. I like them now. I got them in that greater than ever colorway
They take a very long time to break in and most people are not waiting for that, especially for the price.
There’s just better shoes for cheaper or the same price is all.
@@jrdatrackstarthey don’t take long to break in unless you earring them casually. They break in faster playing outdoors compared to indoors.
@@javierlandaverde4108 Maybe it was the colorway I have, because mine has a thicker tongue than the other versions that have the nylon tongue. I had the first OG colorway first and sent them back because the tongue kept sliding around. Then I tried them again and got the Leche Blue colorway (with the icy blue outsole and green and yellow hits) and they played way better.
For me it took like 2-3 weeks for the insole to bottom out a little, and that was playing 2-3 days a week. Maybe they changed them in the last few months?

@@80fame24 For sure but if it’s thin and can’t be felt then it seems like a Hyperdunk 2017 situation all over again, where they go running tech -> basketball and it sucks. I’m fine with them charging for the tech but if it feels worse (cushioning wise) than the previous version then why charge more?
KD16, though they feel great, should cost the same price as the Zion 2 since they have nearly the same specs (minus the Phylon vs Cushlon). There is no way the KD16 should be $160 at retail, $140 tops.

Drop in shoes are usually just lighter. They suck if you need support under your foot because you can’t add a protective insole/insert
I’ve only rolled my ankle months playing in the GT Cuts 2.

When you say stand up do you mean tech for price... Or durability? I am bc I have the WOW AC 11's and they are horrible on dusty courts, and they stretched out on me making them hard as hell to fit withOUT putting an insole in em.
@@anthonypierce8711I was referring to Sammy’s review of the All City 12s and the tech he highlighted. But I have the AC 11 v2s and love them! I have to wear custom insoles and they have a solid black outsole (not translucent). Never had traction issues and my main court is dusty AF. 🗑️
I guess that just shows why we all check out multiple reviews; we can’t rely on consistency at any price point. 😒
