  • For those in public ministry, especially musicians in the church, social media can be a convenient way to let others know what we've been doing. But when does the desire to communicate ways we've been serving become more about us than Jesus? In this episode, Bob and David explore that topic and suggest ways we can use social media wisely and in a God-glorifying way.

As a guy who has led worship and now sings on the praise team your insight has been awesome. Also your catalog of songs is a tremendous blessing. That you got your obedience and adherence to Gods commands and not falling into the trap of worldliness.

In being part of the music worship team do you ever feel guilty of your concentration on performance accuracy rather than concentration on Christ Jesus Who is the Subject and Center of the task at hand? I struggle with this as part of a worship team.

One of my favorite encouragements in this matter was something like this: "Play only as complicated as you can without hindering your ability to focus on and worship God".
In tandem with my other favorite tip as an electric guitarist: "Your job as an EG is to help support the congregation to sing"..
I try not to go so beyond my skill level that I stop focusing on God. As well as to not become a distraction to the congregation. You may have a virtuoso on your team that can still worship while playing at an advanced level, but that doesn't always go without being a distraction. You should instead use your skill and judgement to find a way to best-support the song.
This is the balance I keep in mind when I play with my team 🙂

I was scrolling and I only had to read the title. I read it in shock and horror, but it's Bible prophecy becoming true and factual right before our eyes.

Delete your social media. Problem solved.
