The Lansing HS Legacy Singers performed for the Kanas Board of Education and Commissioner of Education Randy Watson and the Kansas State Department of Education in honor of the 70th anniversary of the Brown vs Board of Education decision!
We later toured our capitol to celebrate these students who led with discernment, passion, and hope all year! While on the tour, they performed the Star-Spangled Banner in the rotunda!
The Legacy Singers started the year with a daunting project, preparation for a KMEA convention performance, in front of them and met all obstacles with a relentless pursuit of excellence and ambition, galvanizing them into an extended family. They have been a model of excellence in music and excellence in education as we all learned from each other on our journey.
I am thankful to have been able to work for and learn from this group of students who truly exemplify the meaning of legacy and living out their ensemble name. Through this, we are enriched and embraced the opportunity of sharing that with others as well. - Brian J. White
