In 1985, I skipped school with my friend Tony. He had a brand new copy of "Perfect Strangers" in the cassette deck of his AMC Hornet. We drove around all day smoking weed and drinking Wild Irish Rose....Every time I hear this it takes me back. Yeah we got busted but I got a great memory. Long time ago. I haven't seen my buddy in 23 years. If you see this Tony, pass the bottle!!....
A few years ago I got to see DP for free. I wouldn't have bothered, but Dream Theater was on the ticket and Steve Morse was on guitar. I never thought much about DP. They just always seemed like something high schoolers listened to when getting stoned. WOW WAS I AMAZED!!! It may have been the best show I ever saw! No props or theatrics, just a couple of guys walking on stage and laying it down the way it should be laid down. This was the REAL DEAL. 100% substance. 0% gimmick.
This album is one of the all time best. It is great from start to finish. Not responsible is an awesome tune!!! as well as this one. Blackmore's guitar playing is top honor on this album.
This might be the best song ever written. Deep Purple is one of those bands that has lived a thousand rock n roll life times long before the internet came along - heck - even long before MTV came along. This video was made during a reunion 20 years before the idea of a reunion became a tired cliche
You're right, it's no bad thing, but I've loved Purple and Zep since 1970 and this is no rip off!! Great to see comments from fans of real music. Peace to you all X
Yes 25 years..!! My Renault 5, my right foot in the car's carpet, a smelly cigarette, and this song as louder as possible to cover the noise of the engine....Great moments..:-)
What a powerful song. Perfect Strangers was one of the top 10 concerts I ever saw. Great memories of the college experience. Thanks for posting this. Now I gotta go dust off my CD and put it on.
im 17 and ive been listening to this stuff since i was pretty much born, this never gets old, and the newer stuff sucks lol, im glad you guisy have good taste
I read an interview with Ritchie, when asked if the Blackmore's Night audience ever request his old stuff, he says he will play a crowd favorite or two. He says his favorite songs from the old days (both Rainbow and DP) were "Gates Of Babylon," "Child In Time" and this one, "Perfect Strangers." I would throw in "Burn," "Highway Star" and "Stargazer"!
On January 18, 1985 they kicked off there U.S. tour in a little bitty west Texas town known as Odessa. Which was a suprise considering you have L.A. , New York Dallas , and many other large cities to kick off a major US tour none the less we were honored to host them on there first US tour in 10 years and I remember like it was yesterday Ian saying that what a great place to start there North American tour. GO MOJO
Thats awesome, they shot this video in or around Stow Vermont.Thats where they recorded this album also.I just wish they would get Blackmore back and do one more tour with him.
I think Perfect Strangers is much better than like for example Smoke on the Water. Everybody should hear this song, absolutely awesome! I recommend to look out a good cover of this, artist is Ari Koivunen. He sings this actually pretty good, even the guy him self is young and arrogant finnish Idols-winner.
Don't all shout at me, 'cause I'm a massive DP fan, but whenever I hear this it makes me think that they all sat round listening to Physical Graffitti and said "Sod it, let's do our own Kashmir" Which isn't a bad thing.....
pornobrillen forever B-) deep purple was one of the first modern bands i came across (i'm 21) .. now i'm addicted to speed metal and they sound rather soft ^^ but still great
You're right come to think of it Gillan was never a good vocalist. Coverdale was the best Purple ever had. BTW, I don't listen to Britney and Miley or any of that teen bubblegum garbage.

This song is a masterpiece of the genre of hard rock. Gillan's vocal interpretation is perfection.

Saw this tour in Philly - summer of '85.
it was LOUD and stellar.
The best Deep Purple line-up without a doubt!!!
You're right, it's no bad thing, but I've loved Purple and Zep since 1970 and this is no rip off!! Great to see comments from fans of real music. Peace to you all X
absolutely - always an all-star line-up and class-A material. If you like rock but don't like them you either have no taste or are not listening.
I am TOTALLY addicted to this song! I HAVE to listen to it every night, sometimes more than once! I like this lineup of DP. Amazing song! Great post!
Yes 25 years..!! My Renault 5, my right foot in the car's carpet, a smelly cigarette, and this song as louder as possible to cover the noise of the engine....Great moments..:-)
Ultraperfect song, you can hear it again and again... a classic song from this genius
What a powerful song. Perfect Strangers was one of the top 10 concerts I ever saw.

Have for long been in my opinion the best song in the world.
Its hard to say but i think its one of the best i´ve heard.

This was and is the band of all time

#1 SONG OF ALL TIME!
THAT'S A REAL TOP ROCK SONG!
Our tears are lost in falling rain
Without Blackmore and his guitar, DP never would have never made it.

I agree one more album too.
i like them regardless of who is in it, as long as ian gillan is singing
I totalyy agree they don't put out music like this anymore. Sorry to say.
Great story bro.
Had once 2 maxi, still got tube amps.
own design from 1986 , they still run....
This is what a rock song is supposed to be like, not the crap that gets put out these days.
Perfect Quality thank you so much for posting that! 5/5 mate!
wow, can't believe this was 25 years ago! I'm older than fucking dirt but this song still roxxxxxxx!

trop bon, merci pour la qualité
wow omg
perfeita, alguem vai em são paulo na sexta?
I Think all these British bands beat our American bands with their music and lyrics. So Shakesperian...
kingz...
Stowe, Vermont is where this video was recorded, and this song too I think

cold spirits of ice.

Which isn't a bad thing.....
About a gang who did there fotball in the pub,
Queens Park Rangers , something like that...
"do yuo remember my face..a perfect stranger..
Ian Gillan and Ian Paice 2 Ians;)
COLD BEER
DP's best song. but they have a ton more of great songs.
pornobrillen forever B-) deep purple was one of the first modern bands i came across (i'm 21) .. now i'm addicted to speed metal and they sound rather soft ^^ but still great
Don't get me wrong.I'm their biggest fan,its just that the only real video of the song in CZcams is not 100% genuine.
This song reminds of Led Zeppelin's Kashmir, but only in certain parts
This song does NOT get the credit it should for being the absolutely kick ass anthem it is!
Kashmir outtake.
Exactly. Without Blackmore... what is the point.
was that ian gillan with the awesome header!
1:18 !!
Where was that video shot? It looks like Canterbury, UK.
& What about jon lord? & ian paice ????
all 3 where the original forming members in M1 -THE 1ST LINE UP & GAVE THE GROUP IT'S UNIUQE COLOUR!
maybe it's just me but I actually think Ian Gillan is hot in this video. Maybe because he's smiling
WHO'S HOUSE WAS TIS RECORDED AT?
But this song is exclusive to John Lord and ian Gillian perfect strangers in my feel
Beware - and where was Ritchie Blackmore in Dream Theater?
you got that right
Dream Theater does a good cover of this one
but the singer here kick LeBrie ass!
ma! wheres the meatloaf?!?!??!!
c0ld beer
Hi Marina
It sounds so good, but the lyrics, in my opinion have to be about something evil cause it sounds so sabbathical....
All of you are right, but who put that purple crap in the beginning of the video instead of the wonderful animation with the logo...
Deep Purple was over when Blackmore left in the 90s. Sorry but that is a fact. Blackmore was DP, although Morse is good... he will never be DP.
BUT NOBOBY COMES CLOSE TO IAN
There are many great rock bands but all of them are inferior to Deep Purple.
For me, DP was always the True Definition of Rock (not only Hard Rock).
It's ironic that Gillan has lost his voice. Wasn't really a good vocalist to begin with.
Don't try to be funny...you're just no good at it. Leave it to comedians that know what they are doing. OK
You're right come to think of it Gillan was never a good vocalist. Coverdale was the best Purple ever had.
BTW, I don't listen to Britney and Miley or any of that teen bubblegum garbage.
