Selena is up there with the greats like Michael Jackson, Elvis, Bob Marley, Whitney Houston, Prince etc. One of a kind talents that we will never see or hear again.
Thats what I think so too. I feel like ever since Selena's passing Tejano music died with her. I haven't seen or heard of any Tejano artist since Selena who has reached her level of success .

Growing up in a Mexican household, I didn’t know much disco, but this medley was my introduction. One of my favorite performances of hers. RIP Selena 🫶🏼

She performed with such grace, we miss her so much. I was born 97, but was obviously not aware of her passing until I was about 8 years old when my mom finally told me she had been dead for 10 years at that point. Her music and legacy she left behind will be with us forever. 💜🕊
The fact that she can control her voice and sing almost flawlessly after shaking her ass off an hour straight is something so remarkable that few people who live today understand how good she was. Music should be awe inspiring and most modern music(that is widely published) does not meet the standards. It's a shame that the music industry is what it is today. I was raised listening to music made before i was born in 93, singers who were better live than studio albums.
I watched an interview of her after this performance and her voice was hoarse 🥺she really gave it her all. She was really ahead of her time and taken from us way too soon 😢
Selena was a genius, the girl was the embodiment of entertainment perfection of the highest order in every detail. Pure excellence.

This performance by Selena always puts me in the best happy positive mood! Disco Medley is my favorite performance from her! I have to listen to this very often, I just love it so much! 💝 and definitely her energy and love is amazing!
Has to go down as one of the best live medley ever preformed. Im a producer. This is an all time great. Lastly, one of the most under appreciated and underrated aspects of this performance and her music in general is that her band was amazing here and in general. So rare to see a band made up of 3 family members who make it this far together. They were trailblazers in regards to the control they had in keeping everyone together and getting the English album in their contract

As a young puertorican kid when this came out, Selena was actually the one who introduced me to these amazing songs, I didn't even realized they were covers until I got older and listened to more music in english 😅😂but I think it's interesting, how she could dominate all these different genres so spectacularly. Selena was really a complete artist in every sense of the word and she was only in her early 20's. She was so impressive. Thanks for the lovely reaction!

I been very acquainted to her music ever since I could remember & became a huge fan in my teen years & now that I’m 23, it’s mind boggling that this was a 23 year old literally making music on stage & not only that, she sounded great, better than in the studio, she looked amazing, had a captivating presence, & on top of that she was a humble beautiful soul. What 23 year old is doing that now? She was an artist you get once in a lifetime & it’s truly a shame what happened because she would’ve dominated the English market as well. All of it.

This always gives me chills knowing that this was her last concert. It kills me thinking about what happened to her and how young she was. What a beautiful person, inside and out, raw talent, kind hearted and beautiful soul that was unlawfully taken too soon. She was only 23. It just kills me! She was amazing. Look how happy and full of life she was! So sad.

She was born in Lake Jackson which is closer to Houston than it is to Corpus. So yeah in a way she was in her 2nd “hometown”

One thing I've always wondered: I read that Selena was born in Freeport Community Hospital, which is the next town over from Lake Jackson, so she was actually born in Freeport. I know her family was living in Lake Jackson at the time, but why does everyone say she was born there, if she was technically born in Freeport? I've never been able to figure that out. Anybody?

Same here. I've been a HUGE Selena fan for 22 years - even met her father, her sister, and her sister's husband - but never got the chance to meet her, or go to one of her shows. It's hard to imagine that there was ever a time when I didn't know about her, and I can't imagine my life without her music in it, which I listen to literally every day. Selena is, without question, one of a relatively small number of artists in musical history who are truly legendary.

When Selena sang about finding love, she could make you feel as though she was the happiest person on earth, and when she sang about losing love, she could make you feel as though her heart was breaking - just that "teardrop in her vocal cord", as it's been described. She was a master of song interpretation. Anyone can sing a song, but not everyone can do it in such a way as to make you feel as though they're actually going through what they're singing about, and nobody ever did, or ever will do it, better than Selena.

I'm an Italian - American from New York State who's been a HUGE Selena fan for 22 years, and even now, thinking about it makes me sad and angry at the same time - sad because it happened, and angry because it never SHOULD have happened. Selena deserved every good thing that ever came to her, and then some, but she did not deserve the senseless, cowardly thing that was done to her. Selena has been giving me life since back in the day when I was young and youthful. 😅 Back in the Spring of 94 a crush I had gifted me the Amor Prohibido tape. Yes, I said tape! He knew I loved Selena, but he also was a man and I was a young teen, and we couldn't because we shouldn't and we didn't, it was prohibited plus I didn't know if he was and if I was or wasn't whom I AM today. He knew though. It was his way of letting me know that he saw me, that he had felt me, and that he had heard me. We would stare into each other's eyes underneath the stars for what seemed like light years talking about anything and everything. Memories à la Barbara!
