  • ASM HydraSynth here I create a pad sound from scratch. I explore the polytouch keybed as well as the Mutants, Filters and FX. This is a workflow video to give you an idea of how it feels to sound design on this synth. follow @Flux302 on instagram for more.

      Yes! I love vintage synths, ROMpler VSTs, and emulations as I do mostly retro-style synthwave music. But Hydrasynth is a gamechanger. It's so inspiring to sit and play with. At $799 for the rack, it's a very good price for what it does and how sturdy it is. I'm blown away by it.

    Never heard of this new company or synth until I somehow stumbled across it last week online. I listened to a few videos, and got the desktop version today! This thing is solid construction, has a beautiful aesthetic, and the capabilities are super deep. I love the lights around the knobs and the feel and layout of it. It's like Serum, but even more inspiring, and in hardware form. It's like what every synth in the past 10 years should've been! I look forward to ASM's future products, and hope this company does well. Super happy with this thing!!

      It would be deserved, assuming it gets noticed and picks up in popularity. As much as I love Korg, Roland, Novation, etc...their products have been a bit boring recently. ASM gave us something new and fresh. 🤩

    It is all about UI (User Interface).
    I understand that some people keep repeating that anything digital could potentially be crated by a VST. Agreed. But programming the VST would probably not be an easy task.
    This synth is the most intuitive and deep UI I have ever seen. And as with every good UI, once you see it, it does not seem special. But it is ;)

    19:40 Say this patch was a short pluck type, could you then assign this reverb freeze to the sustain pedal? Thinking of simulating more polyphony than 16 notes (a glissando over the whole keyboard would be an extreme example).

      RantSanta & the Radical Radishes you mean user created waveforms (all the wavetables are user created as they are a sequence of up to 8 waves with 10 points of morph between each wave) no there is no user waveform import at this time.

    Hydra vs matrix brute pound for pound who wins, I know it’s apples and oranges but what is the better synth?

    • @Fluxwithit
      @Fluxwithit  Před 4 lety +4

      corridor444 that’s a really hard question because they are both super fun to create patches on. I’ve grappled with this thought as well because I was fortunate to work on both projects. If I could only keep one... which would it be ? Probably they hydrasynth because it has more depth synthesis wise. Matrixbrute has that very “alive” vco sound and I love its sound. But the hydrasynth just goes so deep and yet is still immediately programmable. That being said.... I’m not giving my matrixbrute up for anything.

  • @amsterdamob

    so besides the obvious differences/advantages (performance ability, keyboard, etc.) what makes this better than a good vst? maybe it's a dumb question, but im seriously considering shelling out the cash for this bad boy. Does this sound better than a $200-$500 softsynth?

    • @Fluxwithit
