Don't know how I ended up here but here is my 2 cents on this! I moved to North America as a youngman and speak English fluently as well as Spanish and Portuguese - picked up from neighborhoods in Atlanta where I was raised. Needless to say, I speak Luganda fluently as I should. So when I see jokers such as this woman pretending to have forgotten how to speak Luganda fluently and thinking that is enlightened, I say shame on you because there's no honor in that at all my sister. Please fellow immigrants don't pick up such silly slave mentalities - it makes us all look dumb. Take for instance the beautiful young lady - current Miss Uganda UK - Jan Mukiibi, born and raised in the UK and speaks fluent Luganda Or Eva Longoria - 7th generation Mexican American who committed to learning Spanish as an adult and now speaks it fluently and so many other people whose being born in the diaspora does not make them shun their culture. The funny thing is this woman speaks English with an accent you struggle to understand what she is saying and I would bet if she speaks Italian, it is with an accent too. What a sad way to live with no sense of belonging!!! You don't just loose something learned especially in your formative years. It's like riding a bike, or playing soccer etc...These days I go years without speaking Spanish, but every time we travel to Latin America, it all comes back to me so well that natives think I sound Colombian which makes sense - because I learned Spanish from Ecuadorians. People stay true to yourself and gratefully be proud of who you are no matter what.
