- Oh, the journey of me and my saree! It all began a whopping 29 years ago when I tied the knot and suddenly found myself surrounded by these 6 yards of fabric.
Back then, I despised sarees so much that I wanted to chop them up into bits and pieces! Can you believe it?
But fast forward to today, and oh boy, how things have changed! Now, sarees are my absolute favorite. I can’t stand the thought of anyone cutting up this elegant fabric to create different styles. It’s like a love story that blossomed against all odds!
In the early days, I had a couple of stitched sarees that were a breeze to drape. But now, I’m all about that traditional, classic drape. No shortcuts with stitched sarees for me, thank you very much!
If you watch the video, you’ll see the evolution of my saree draping skills over the years. It’s a mix of humor, emotions, and a whole lot of love for this beautiful piece of clothing. Who would’ve thought that something I once detested would become such a cherished part of my life? Life sure has a funny way of surprising us!….

I'm wowed by the quick way you drape your sarees ever so elegantly... It's been 11 years for me since I've been wearing sarees to work on a regular basis but I'm still not there!!
At times, my sarees fall so well and at times, the pleats are sooo troublesome 😢😢

But we somehow make do with our limited knowledge and skills in draping the whole 6+ yards of length!!

That is an honest video...we all dread wearing sarees because draping is cumbersome....but there is hope and persistent effort makes it perfect. Don't give up on the saree ladies....this is our heritage and we need to encourage our weavers and master craftsman. Thank you Dolly for being a good motivator and ambassador of the everlasting national costume ...the saree.

Dolly ji aap to dono hi tarike mai achchhi lag rahi hai.lekin kya aapko pata hai ki ki abhi bhi is tarah bahut log saree pahante hai
Aap hamesa lower pleats ache details se batati hai which helps us a lot but aau we details me palu b bana na batayege to hame bahar help hoga. Mostly silk rough saree uski palu bana na is so difficult
Hii Dolly mam, Truely relate to this.. and still after 14-15 yrs I am doing the same. I am a professor and need to wear saree on usual basis. But it takes me a lot of time and makes me anxious. I do exactly this. I usually wear cotton, or Georgette, or shiffon type sarees. Can u please share link of a good complete video of yours for me to teach achhe se k jaldi se saree pehnana kaise seekhun.
