I migrated a few days ago from Ubuntu 22.04 to Arch Linux GUI XFCE; and I followed all the steps in your video to customize it. And I learned a lot in the process. There were some difficulties with some outdated packages, but I was able to work around successfully. I chose not to use Conky and Comice-Control-Center. I loved Pamac, which helped me in the end to eliminate all the orphaned packages. Thank you for your dedication in this video tutorial. It was very helpful for me.
Absolutely amazing! I'll be reinstalling soon and thought about giving Xfce a try.
Hi,
There's a mistake in this video > at around 22:17 when you install & configure ULauncher. After you configure it, you go to System Settings>Session Startup>Autostart but instead of adding the ULauncher to the list, you replay the previous video section when you added PLANK and then opened various apps like Terminal, File Manager & Calculator & added them to the Plank dock. In other words, this video doesn't show you adding ULauncher or its execute command to the Autostart menu. You added Plank twice and ULauncher not at all.
Thanks for best Linux Scoop!
You're welcome!
I've been looking for something like this quite a while.
the best youtuber when it comes to theming linux desktop environments
Thank you for your detailed instructions. I combined this with the Qogir look you showed in your other video, and I am very happy. Everything worked for me except for the Comice Control Center. As the control center is not necessary, I decided to just not implement it and move on.
cool, but what about memory and cpu usage before and after customization?
Awesome! Great video!
Thank You! Now I know for what purpose XFCE DE is needed! I use Elementary OS and LinuxMint, but your video is very interesting!
Can do whatever you want with it. And it's lightweight. Arch-Users love it.
@@_karla._ i use lxde with arch. But I don't have a whisker menu and cannot change the size of desktop icons.
@@rishirajsaikia1323 Yeah, imo XFCE is better in most cases. lxde is also not really supported anymore. I would suggest you switch to xfce or maybe lxqt.
The fact that they are using arch gives me happiness.
Tysm Man! My Linux now looks like MacOS.
is the global menu working for you? which distro and xfce version you are on?
I LOVE this!!!! I first started my Linux journey a year and a half ago by loading up Linux Mint Cinnamon desktop. After going through a bunch of different distro hops, I thought I was settled on Gnome. What I love most about your setup is those top menu items on the left side as well as the app menu icon in the plank bar that shows up something similar to Gnome's app menu. This is truly the best of both worlds and the answer to my prayers, and very importantly getting the right aesthetics without all the bloatware and inefficiencies of the gnome platform. Battery life is better on xfce ✅
***UPDATE: I have mint XFCE 21.3 and I am getting errors in the initial set of running the pacman command. I'm a linux pro in the making, please help. Thank you so much!!!***
Mint is an Ubuntu fork which is based on Debian. It doesn't have *pacman,* only *apt*
I love this!!🧡🧡🧡
Many thanks. A small update or correction - just before the `pamac build vala-panel-appmenu-common-git vala-panel-appmenu-registrar-git vala-panel-appmenu-xfce-git ` it seems you need to do `sudo pacman -S gobject-introspection` because it fails with the following msg - `ERROR: Dependency "budgie-1.0" not found, tried pkgconfig`
Thanks man

YOU CRACK BRO
Please more GNOME and XFCE Customization.
Hello, I am a debian user (Ubuntu specifically), and the rofi menu doesn't look like it does in the video, infact it looks quite ugly.
oh my how long did it take you to edit this
almost perfect. if you could just get maximised windows to "join" the top bar rather than sit underneath like in your customise Firefox bit. oh and the menus need to be searchable too! it does look great though ;-)
1 year late but you can use:
The windowck plugin for jouning title bar and panel when maximizing
And mate hud for searchable global menus
thank you very much thanks to this video I managed to have a fast and performing Linux system completely equal to Mac os, This however took more time to understand and manually change the configuration of the Rufi program because it had bugs I had to change the default system icons and put those of Mac os and modify the rufi configuration file to adapt it to the screen. anyway thank you again for the tutorial
Hey, could you please tell me how you did it? I think I have the same issue you had ... but I don't know how to fix it
@@ashlpc1757 It's been a long time since I did this, but I tried to randomly change the config values and it worked but not so well. anyway I give you some advice, it is better if you install a distribution with kde or gnome and then customize it
@@fabioscardi1086 Okay thanks !
@@ashlpc1757 If you're still struggling, in the launcher.sh file it states this was tested on rofi version 1.6.0, if you downgrade rofi to that version it works.
Looks like there are 2 file managers? the gnome looking file manager looks a lot better, also, this looks like a lot of work? Is there a script we can run to just have it do all this?
If you don't have pamac, you can also use trizen, or yay, just use -S instead of build.
I am using Linux Mint XFCE and I dont have neither of them is it possible to use apt?
Guess I'll try this, but without Conky and Light Version (I think) looks better. Great Video... hope none of this (Packages) is outdated?
hi, Isn't there something similar to Yet Another Magic Lamp? for the effect of minimizing?
Hi sir thank you so much for your efforts can you please make a video about customize fedora 34 and gnome 40 ?
It seems that the section of configuring XFCE panel, the Pling website is no longer valid to get the xpple menu. Is there another source to get it from?
Thank you.
What are the terminal commands for apt to install on Debian 11 Bullseye. You just left the Pamac commands for Arch Linux and Manjaro.
Nice, thanks! Can you do a video about Lubuntu/lxqt customizations?
cool,nice,awesome
When I try to run rofi launcher I'm getting an error: "Validating the theme failed: the variable 'border' in `window { border-color: var(border);}` failed to resolve.
".
Hi, great video ! However, I cant get the Panel icons to look the same as you, how did you change them? What icon pack did you use?
I have the same question. Did you manage to solve it?
Looks like I should switch to Xfce
hey does any one know what we should use instead of build command in kali linux? Please reply if you do know
Please tell your personal customization and linux distro you use
Thanks!
Welcome!
I'm on ubuntu which is debian based...so which command should I use to build the vala-panel ?
I have the same question brother I'm very sad
For your next video, can you make KDE look like Windows 11?
wow ty x gide
I have a problem with hofi, it's open but the icons and everything is not showing appropriated
Were you able to fix it? I'm having the same issue right now.
same...
Thanks
Help me buddy, when use the command for build app-menu using pamac and says it: segmentation fault. How I can resolve it????
Hey! I have a problem with Conky, the files aren't in download folder. Can you help me, please?
How to install vala appmenu on xfce linux mint?

Can i make kde look like Windows11?
will it reduce the performance ?
how do i get pamac, the vala-appmenu installation wont work without it.
Can I use it in Linux mint xfce?
can you make video for xfce customization to look like voyager linux, xerolinux and enso linux alongwith plank and conky
I'm stuck when using pamac. I have debian, and when trying to install pamac I get an unable to locate package error
What could be the problem?
sudo apt install gtk-murrine-sassc
I can't find the package.
Linux Mint 21.2 Xfce 4.18.1
try using the command sudo apt install -S gtk-engine-murrine sassc
hei would be awesome if you make a video to customize like win 11.
BTW tq for a heart on this comment🤣🤣
how to install vala app menu on ubuntu 20.04 or mint 20.1
bro , after i install webkit2 and logout/restart , it show black screen . how to fix it
In the starting, your top panel had a blur effect..I thought I would get to know how to add a blur effect to the top panel..but unfortunately I'm feeling I've wasted my 40 mins :'(
Please tell me how to add a blur effect to the top panel in XFCE
Plz help us to customise kde plasma to monterey mac os 12
Any themes with blur upcoming? Please:)
can someone help me in installing pamac in debian or give any alternative to that?
for linux mint how install in terminal? apt-get?
i switched to kde because i was fed up with XFCE looks. it seems in able hands, anything is possible.
I once installed Debian Xfce in my flash drive, riced it and carried to school.
Some of my friends still can't get over its looks. It wasn't as beautiful as in THIS video, neither it was Mac-like, but it was simple yet good.
Bro I like the look and I'm currently using it can you give me a way to make the rofi launcher applications to open with only single click please
how do I install SassC?
budgie-1.0 dependency not found error during vala-panel-appmenu-xfce-git please help
Thanks for the video, can you make how to make xfce look like elementary OS's Pantheon? And, are you Indonesian? Just asking
I'm on a debian based distro and global menu not working for anything except the desktop
cual es el nombre de la carpeta que se creo para copiar xpple menu no se lee bien
Anyone tried this setup already with MX Linux?
I can't install Comice-Control-Center in Linux Mint XFCE, could you help me?
I downloaded the files directly from github and installed them, but when I run them, the Comice-Control-Center screen does not appear.
Con tus videos, hiciste que deseche Gnome y lo tenga en duda a KDE :-)
x2 una pregunta si usa xfce es posible q no me funcione algunos programas que usaba con kde?
Bro pls do it specifically on mint xfce, appreciate it brother.
The steps would be fairly similar, try using 'apt search' to see if your repository has the same packages
.
what's height of top panel ??
Didnt this work for kali Linux xface?
Error: Failed to prepare transaction: target not found: vala-panel-appmenu-xfce-git
How can I solve this error???
How much ram does it use?
How to change icons size in rofi?
Can I apply this in linux mint Xfce?
pls make video on i3wm desktop customize
that applet @ 1:06 - what is it?
I think they have given up reviewing the latest distro release.
MAKE MORE GNOME CUSTOMIZATIONS, PLEASE
Anyone has tried installing LightDM-Webkit2-Greeter on Xubuntu?
Please fix code in launchpad.rasi file.
Unfortunately I can't see the options you've chosen for the terminal, you typed so fast the number didn't appear.
I slowed the video play back down to 25% to 50% to catch everything. Being that this video came out in 2022, I'm not sure if everything available is still available. Lots to learn in this video indeed.
Youcan shear thes vm backups file place
how you get to install that rofi theme
Hey this is awesome man, i've looking this fot long time but, can you make "Kali Linux" Cuztomization like this please !!!
i tried hardly by following this video, but i couldn't
Rofi has updated to version 1.7.0, file rasi seems outdated so can you update it with the new version of rofi?
Aah...so this was the issue. I was wondering why rofi didn't work...kind of a compressed window opened with all icons squashed. None of the items are interactive... Please drop a word if you can get rofi to work...or any other way to see all installed apps in a window like how Gnome shows..Will use whisker menu till then.
top você e 10.
I like your builds but i needed something different like not a mac os style?
I think we need to do something about windows 11. i.e., making xfce to look like windows 11. If any one interested, please make a video on it.
dont make me puke
Sir In my pop os your theme isnot showing! 🥺

@@tonystark3399 Why not Tony? Also Terminator was super cool but you had to make Iron Man 😉

What about RAM usage after all customizations?
Read the neofetch... It says it there 1min in... If it wasn't for the ugly info panel on the right it could probably be a lot faster
