3-stitch I-CORD BIND-OFF in the Round without a JOG/JOGLESS

  • How to knit: I-CORD bind off on the Round with a completely jogless connection in a circle, using a tapestry needle.
    I-cord bind off for neck trim, sleeves, cuffs, top down sweaters knitted in the round, toe up socks, top down hats etc. Easy process. Knitting for beginners. Continental knitting.
    Matches well 3-stitch i-cord cast-on: • I-CORD CAST-ON in the ...
    In the video: aran cotton yarn - changed from 4.5 mm (US7) used for the stockinette stitch to 4 mm (US6) for the i-cord, fingering/sock yarn - changed from 3.5 mm (US 4) to 3.25 mm (US 3).
    SSK can be done faster, of course, (like we do decreases - slip, slip, insert the left needle from left to right opposite to the right needle, knit a stitch), but with cotton, for me, the way shown in the video produced neater stitches.
    Happy knitting!

    Thank you for this fantastic tutorial! I love that you repeat the steps over again so that we have time to absorb them and that you work at a pace that we can work the stitches along with you. Your technique gives a perfect result. The only sad thing is that now I want to go and collect all of the garments I've bound off with jog-y icords over the years so that I can fix them! 🤪🥰❤

    I am going to create my own cowl, and want to cast on and bind off with an icord stitch. Do you recommend going down one needle size for the cast on and bind off process? Your videos are excellent tutorials.

    • @irinarevo
      @irinarevo  Před rokem +1

      Thank you! Yes, I would first make a guess for the c/o needle size based on my stitches hight/width ratio (using the gauge for that) and would definitely do a swatch, especially for c/o.

    When connecting in circle, which stitch is the first horizontal stitch? Is it the last stitch we just created? I am a little lost here at the very end~! Thank you in advance!

    • @irinarevo
      @irinarevo  Před rokem +1

      Hello! There are 3 "first" horizontal stitches - the ones that were made at the very beginning to avoid a slope. You connect the three last stitches of the I-cord with those three first stitches.

    If I want to use this method in a cowl to begin with a provisional cast-on work the project and bind-off with this method then undo the provisional cast-on and do the bind-off, how much yarn do you think I have to reserve at the begining of the cowl for this bind-off? If my number of stitches is "x" the number of stiches involved in the bind off is x+3+3+3.(3sts in the beg of the bind off, 3sts in the end of the bind off and 3 sts for grafting). So my length of yarn will be (x+9)×y? Wher "y" is the length of yarn for 1 stich. Phiu! Such a long question! 😁😁😁

    • @irinarevo
      @irinarevo  Před 3 lety +1

      Great timing and a great and a very practical question! I haven’t frogged the sample swatch yet. I unraveled the I-cord back to the beginning of the row. Here is the result: for 40 cm/16 in of the length of the row I used 520 cm/204 in of the yarn tail (including approximately 20 cm/8 in for grafting/needle/extra room). 520cm - 20cm =500cm, 500:40=12.5 This means 12.5 lengths of the row plus 20 cm extra. So I would reserve this much yarn at the beginning of the cowl to use later for binding off. Let me know if it made sense. A very long answer! :)

    • @lauraandreescu5952
      @lauraandreescu5952 Před 3 lety +1
