We still can't believe our luck with the weather and the lack of hikers this day. Mount Barney is a gem, if you live within 3 hours of Mt Barney National Park, this hike to the peak is a must do!
Mount Barney is amazing, it isn't a freestanding peak but rather a massif (known as tge Mount Barney Massif). It can be viewed from most elevated and cleared locations as far north as Brisbane and beyond 2:29 Looking west towards the West Peak in the foreground and further out west behind that is the rest of the massif. Main Range can be seen to the north (left side in the video) 2:42 Looking southeastward. Mount Ernest is close to the front, shrouded in mist or clouds. Its spur extends westwards (right side in the video). Mount Lindesay with its distinctive two tiers of cliffs is behind Mount Ernest
Hi Justin, thanks for the feedback. There are enough markers for you find your way to the Old Hut Camp site near the summit. The scramble up the rocks from there gets tricky. There are markers but they are difficult to spot. Try looking for wear on the rocks from foot traffic and sighting the markers as you go. If you keep going up you'll summit! Coming down to the camp, we found it even more difficult to spot the markers on the rocks. An epic climb and day out. Take plenty of food and water.
nice video,I love the drone footage. Regarding the granite rock slab, just wedge your feet into the crack and pull yourself up and take a step to your left towards the tree. Most the time someone leaves a rope but I wouldn't trust the rope =).
Very cool mate thx
Thanks for the comment, cheers!.
Spectacular view.
Cool vid mate. Nice work by Jill & yourself.

Great footage. Any particularly difficult areas to navigate on the way up? Are there many orange markers?

Thanks for the comment. It's a shame we didn't know that beforehand. I probably wolud have attempted if my wife wasn't so uneasy.
