1 minute, 5 minute, 30 minute turret would be pretty fun
1 minute would be little more than a spud gun with a button, and with 30 minutes you might have enough time to make a vehicle for it

So it is just a hovering platform with a heavy pendulum in the middle. So by tilting this pendulum you move mass center and whole thing moves
Having a pendulum hovercraft, or just anything flying for that matter, wouldnt realy work how you want it to

I think you should try a multiplayer self-evolution race for hovercraft, in which people get 5 minutes per round to add to their build or a copy of the build of the winner (if they give up their own build), but they can choose to exchange one point for one more minute on each round's building part, the last place getting 0 points and all other placesget one point more than the place after them (so second-last place would get one point, third-last would get two points, and so on). They would be allowed to change the connections and configuration of the configurable blocks (controllers, steering, etc.) during the race, but they have to return to the previous checkpoint.

Now that I know how to actually do them. Hovercrafts are one of my favorite things to build. I went through about 30 prototypes and models before I got some semblance of stability and control. Now I'm building survival ready versions. Complete with spud guns, fuel tanks and storage chests. The smallest one has 2 thrusters which angle for directional movement.

I'd like to see you try out rock crawlers / hill climbing vehicles in the next speed build. The suspension design is tough to do quickly if you want a stable platform with loads of traction. SHould be a fun progression!

same i made a 2 person battleship with a back elevator with one problem every two minutes it would flip/crash
You could have added strafe to it quite easily, although with the off center strafe/steer thrust it might be a bit rough

Planes 5 minutes, 10 minutes and 30 minutes multiplayer Monday would be cool.
You got to do a helicopter in true Scrap Mechanic fashion. And to make it a little more interesting, it should have a specific purpose so that it cannot be just a thruster fixed on a seat. A cargo copter for fruit crates would be a good one.

MPM Idea: do this challenge for races. Do three races with each vehicle of your choice being made in the 1 minute, 5 minutes, and 30 minutes, build time
1 minute, 5 minute, and 30 minute builds for a VTOL in Scrap Mechanic would be quite the challenge since planes are wonky to begin with in this game.
1 minute - Survival mode
5 minutes - Challenge mode
30 minutes - Creative mode
Ayo I think you can use this concept on Multiplayer Monday. Like a race and each on checkpoint during the race you must change into another vehicle. But instead of 1, 5, 30 mins. do a 1, 5, 10 vehicles.

fun fact: in trailmakers, making that first hovercraft work very good is actually very easy, i literally did it myself, because there is basically no delay for logic in it, unlike scrap mechanic, which has a 25ms delay on everything logic related, due to the 60fps.
does increasing fps to more than 60, like 120, makes the logic faster?

Technically hover crafts float on a cushion of air which allows them to go up on land which is why they are called hover crafts

Speed build toilet launcher. I'm curious if the extra time in the later stage can actually make the toilet launcher more effective.
One of the thrusters were not the same power than the others in both 1 and 5 min crafts, which is why you were strafing.
You and the boys need to do this as a challenge, where you make vehicles to complete the in-game challenges in the challenge mode.
You should do one of these types of videos with something like a walker, could be cool
If you put,on each corner, three thrusters each with a low power, then set each one to have a sensor with a different distance, then it can throttle the tilt. It might even stabilise more smoothly.
Something like 3,4,5 for the distance on the sensors

Yeah, YDIB (you draw I build) is a bit better than the speed build mainly because the builds are pretty Goofy wacky

So you have the buoyancy thrusters backwards, cause having independent thrusters causes a lot of strafing and other things. If you pair the left thruster with the right then you can escape that but because each is independent it's just going to cause you to scoot sideways when you don't want to.
Can you sometimes make a LEGITIMATE IRL hovercraft in Scrap Mechanic?
Maybe building a train in 1 minute, 5 minutes, 30 minutes?
I have an idea for multi player Monday similar to the challenge of using spud guns to destroy cardboard floors but instead of cardboard floors a top tier wood trunk bits bridge so you can only use hammers to make the others fall.
You should do this with a boat maybe? And definitely some sorta tank build that can destroy set targets.

I have found out that spending time with trial and error is not very efficient. I feel much better spending my time with plan and perfection.
Both the initial crafts had asymmetrical power settings on the hover thrusters. They may have worked with the settings fixed.

One thing that i feel makes scrap mechanic hovercraft difficult is non adjustable engines from like a sensor or something for the uneven ground so the front thrusters have more power or less power compared to the back one depending on where it's uneven at and I'd if this would actually work but in my mind it makes sense ykwim

The first one is better then the one I spent 3 hours on.
Got a challenge for you, how about fliers with as few thrusters as possible, with a caveat, no glitch welding. Use of other "glitches" is fine but glitch welding is out.
I've managed to make a stable flier with just 3 thrusters, link below, and this was specifically for survival mode. I would say you can go ahead and look at them but I will say that if you pull out the connect tool you might ruin the experience of discovery for yourself. Although, if all you want is to succeed and you don't care about discovery feel free to look at it through the connect tool.
The reason I put "glitches" is because I use the suspension glitch for steering in each dimension. However if you are technical enough you might be able to do it by changing the vectoring of the thrusters, I attempted this and struggled a bit with it so I abandoned the pursuit.
Now there might be a way to do this with just 2 thrusters as well however the flier will likely be much slower then the one's I designed, and as I mentioned they are for survival so speed was important for getting out of dangerous situations.
Enjoy the challenge, I did when I first took it on. I know a lot of people struggle utilizing the suspension "glitch", the reason for the quotes is they've made no attempt to patch it so it might as well be a feature. Hopefully the designs I have can help people grasp how subtle angles are the key to control.

Should have made two thrusters per stabilizer side.
Made both of them activate at different heights and have a set for normal stabilization so it barely effects the craft but have a stronger version that only goes off when it gets really close to the ground so that you can have variable adjustment in the thrusters while have a flat feeling when it settles
Do a quickbuild like this but for Instruments of Destruction.
Try big space ships with 10 minutes, 30 minutes and 1 hour
I’m pretty sure you can link forward thrusters directly to the seat so you can just press W to go forward

Who would like to see an offroad hovercraft?
I've never really understood these challenges. I get the limitation of time but that's not the only variable. As you progress having more time, is obvious. However, less obviously, the inherent evolution of your hovercraft.

When you do the next challenge do the fine tuneing after you make it so for the 1 minute just make the craft then once time is up fine tune and pant is

The side thrusters on the 5 minutes one have different power levels I'm pretty sure
I wonder why the one that took about 6 times the time of the second one works so much better
