Bastrop County SpaceX Starlink Facility update (& a trip to Buc-ee's)

- Here is a quick update video showing you the nearly finished construction of the Bastrop County Starlink Facility. There are over 90 open job postings for this 521,000 sq. ft. Texas facility. The facility will focus on manufacturing Starlink receivers.
I also decided to supercharge my Tesla at the nearby Buc-ee's which is a Texas tradition. If you've never experienced the mega gas station, here is an idea of what it feels like to be whisked away by the smell of brisket and tempted to buy buc-ees attire.

The Starlink factory looked quite different from the last time you were there. That first trip was cool though. It was like a safari. You wading through the underbrush, with mosquitoes and snakes, all while wearing sandals. Quite entertaining, I must say.
It was! I was surprised to see that all that area that I had walked and waded through had been cut down, cleared out, and paved as part of the new site. It looks a LOT different- I can only hope someday Elon will give Ellie in Space an exclusive interview at their newest Starlink location.
We've seen Starbase, we've seen Giga Texas, let's get some Starlink action!

Buc-ee's in Temple has 50 Tesla chargers. They have a lot of stalls in their restrooms too!

minor quibble on launch windows. There is one instant where you can launch for the most efficient transfer orbit, and technically, that assumes that you can apply your full delta-v in that instant.
As you move away from that instant, and since you can't apply your delta-v instantly, it takes more power to make the interception. How wide your allowed launch window is therefor depends on how much more delta-v you have than the minimum you need, the more extra power, the wider the window
Apparently you can get your Texas active there too! 🤣
It's almost impossible to not have total respect for Elon Musk he truly is a marvel!

From the its a small world department, I was at that same Buc-ee's at about noon today, in the even smaller world department, I was parked in front of the Tesla chargers, in one of those (empty) parking spaces shown in the headlights on this video.

If you are ever able to stop at Buc-ee's take time to do so. Not only do they have electric charging stations for over 100 gas pumps !
They have been voted the cleanest rest rooms in the US. I love those hot roast beef sandwiches with home made potato chips.
We have a Buc ee’s here in Warner Robins Georgia and it’s like a beaver in heat. About 10 Tesla charger stations . 😊 Also the wall of beef jerky’s too.

Ellie, welcome to Texas! Might I suggest giving up on adopting a Texas drawl? Rather, just add “y’all” and “fixin’ to” to your vocabulary and call it a day.
With so few native Texans, you are in the majority as a “naturalized” Texan! And if people ask if you are a native Texan, just respond, “No, but I got here as quick as I could!”
Buc-ees is the epitome of everything is bigger in Texas. You really should include a bathroom video pointed at the floor and count out loud the number of bathroom stalls and sinks and then shoot a video inside the stall.
What is crazy is the true “competitive advantage” over the competition is the clean bathrooms! Not just clean, immaculate! Both the men and women’s have dedicated attendants keeping the place immaculate.
In response to the question by the Brit, the prices are not really “inexpensive”. But if you just think of the cost of items including a “sparkling clean bathroom” fee, it a great deal!
FYI, a typical men’s room has like 30 urinals, 20 toilets, and 30 sinks! And all 80 of them will be immaculate!
We stopped at Buc-ee's around 3AM once, it is huge and the best. But too early to get the Texas Brisket sandwich, heck. 0:28

For the self drive test of the Tesla. My guess is, it won't start unless you scan. Also it'll only go so far distance and/or so long time wise, Then the driver will get messages saying to go back. If they continue away from the place of origin, it will stop. Or possibly even return on it's own.

Ellie you seem very nice, and I enjoy your coverage of Tesla, EV technology, SpaceX, other areospace companies/technologies.
However there is this disturbing almost god like admiration some people have for Elon Musk that is disturbing. In their eyes Elon can do no wrong and what he says is basically scripture.
They loose their minds over anyone or thing they perceive as a possible threat to Elon's success. Mostly anything affecting SpaceX.
I understand wanting to see the Starship fly again, but the hate/nonsense coming from some people over the delay is delusional at times.
I actually love what SpaceX is trying to achieve. Its awesome.
Unfortunately Elon isn't worthy of the admiration he gets.
