- This is a little video I put together for everyone back home just to get an idea of what a day (or two) can look like on the ship, hope you enjoy!
*Update 3 years later! Originally I made this video just for all of my friends and family, but seeing now that it has reached nearly 15,000 views I will expand on it a bit more.
I served in the Galley during our time in Conakry, Guinea. Kate served as an outpatient nurse. Both of us had quit our jobs and served for 2 months onboard the ship. We used it as kind of a stepping stone to our next adventure, which was getting married and doing travel nursing in the states!
Mercyships was a great experience and so glad we did it.

Is there a gym to keep fit? Also does everyone share a room? If you’re a surgeon/physician do you get your own room?
On the Africa Mercy there is a small weights room, and a tiny cardio room. Most Crew go for a run ashore, or set up their own CrossFit on the dock! The new ship, the Global Mercy, will have a larger gym for the Crew

So sorry for the delayed response! I had made this video for people back home and only just realized that it now has 15,000 views haha. I worked in the galley, mostly doing prep work and cleanup. Lots of washing fruit, vegetables, and then cutting them for all the crew to have for lunch and dinner!
@@neroark91 aha I see! Did you know any of the deck crew? I'm a seafarer currently and I have thought about doing what I can for the mercy ships bit I don't know to much of the actual life of the seafarers onboard mercy
