  • Working dogs need fitness for days. They must be able to complete amazing feats of physical fitness but still perform their duties. The long well executed bite and the Polaris run are our favorites.
Please don't attempt these unless supervised by a professional who knows how to do perform these exercises in a safe manner, especially for the dog.

Hi 👋 from myself and Major the Maligator here in 🇬🇧. We are quite new to your channel and have subscribed. Major was bred in the British military program, trained but failed to make the grade , then he was given to a complete narcissistic abuser and that's the situation I found him in a year and a half ago, he was wild , chained , starved and beaten, also , obviously very frightened. With the will of Odin behind me I managed to get him out of that terrible situation and now have a model dog , he remembered all of his training and loves it . He's a big bit of dog and I'm 5 foot 7 female so if he ever wanted to hurt me bad he could but we have such respect for each other I know he wouldn't. We both have been diagnosed with PTSD so have each others backs and if one of us is having an anxious or stressed day we just chill and lounge . I'm the proudest mali owner, he's come so far , he suprises me and makes me proud every day. Can't fault him , love , respect, play , food and hugs is how we got here . Some people still think I'm nuts because of the way he was , but the way he is now is what they should pay attention to . I've never felt so safe as I do with Major by my side . Best breed ever . Thank you, we love your videos!.

Absolutely love the way you train, all the dogs look so happy and like they truly enjoy training! I wanted to ask, what's your opinion on e-collars and prong collars? I've seen a bunch of protection trainers basically claiming that you can't teach a dog protection and/or make them focused/fast. I've never seen you use any e-collars and prong collars and your dog's seem very focused and fast with their commands.

    • @littlestworkshop
      @littlestworkshop Před rokem +3

In the first podcast he explains that he uses an e-collar occasionally for training the "out" but only because he is doing it at a professional level and doesn't yet have another way to guarantee the out in real life situations. He does not use them to develop drive though. This he says comes down to breeding, a lot of people rely on these things because they are training unsuitable dogs. This is why he is saying in this video that they perform well and bite hard without having to be in a sort of crazy state, they just love it.

I would love to get your input on training the focus/target command! Arya is trained in basic/advanced obedience, heelwork, some tricks, and naturally correct other dogs for aggressive tendencie. She also remembers cues VERY quickly (within 2-3 tries) so training has to be careful or she is retain the wrong cue for up to a month and be very stubborn about changing it. She has been raised around my sugar and even spit out flies to see if they are okay 😂 but she is toy driven and would NEVER be taught to bite hard as she is service, not protection

Along with the cattle dog pictured, we have a nearly one y.o. male mal--our third sequentially since the early 90s. Very sweet male, but about 2 months ago the mal became uncomfortably (and maybe dangerously?) aggressive when seeing people and dogs on walks. People jogging by or riding bikes were the worst. I'm told the word is "reactive." Rather than go "full psycho Kristie Noem" and look for a nearby gravel pit, we boarded our mal for 4-weeks with a great trainer. The reactiveness is gone, leaving only his sweetness. You should hire my wife, who'd love to work with mals and you and would possibly give up practicing law at a high level to do so. Besides learning from your videos and enjoying them, we respect you as a trainer and as a person--especially how comfortable you are in your skin as well as your openness. You go! QUESTION: Should we neuter our male male; we won't show or breed him. My wife will take him to agility, but neutering is irrelevant for agility I assume (except maybe he can clear the horizontal bar more easily without dragging along his "plums").

i have a racetrack for doggos in my nearby woods as well and i do it much like you, i dont know what it is in miles but its around 6km lap, my older one used to go so fast i could not keep up with her in my car (its a dirt track, fields and wineyards mostly) and the biggest number she reached that time was 52 kmh which is quite nice for a 35 kg dog. Now she is older and i have another one now as well, when they focus on running they easily reach 30 km/h but by then you notice the age of the older one as she can barely push to 40 while the younger one easily reaches 40 kmh. When i see the younger one taking the lead i know my job is done and usually pick them up in the car then. Today im taking my younger one to see the snow for her first time, it should be very fun

Man the controll is crazy my cattle dog girl just chases the disc no bite work but I wish I could get her to be as consistent as this here.
She was in a shelter as a pup dunno why but she is a big scaredy dog temperament wise so it's been a lot of work.
She does a lot of things great and I feel I can have her off leash maybe half the time in most situations.
The problem is her nose and ears take her over and she goes off into another world I'm not in.
I've always thought her like a person who has really bad anxiety.
I put in the work and she is a great dog but maybe competitions for frisbee or her herding would be too much.
She loves to please but she gets so scared or overstimulated sometimes idk what to do it screws up training.
It's like basically training becomes ok just look at me and ignore that over there.
And I've made progress but I walked her tonight and I had to pick her up and carry cuz a dog barked and she got to scared to keep walking.
I'll always think she ended up at the shelter because someone new early on about these temperament problems.
Also she is an all white cattle dogbwhich isn't favorable I believe.
Best dog ever though because she's my pet and her personality is amazing.
She does not like strangers too much though once she knows you she is a lapgog.
These malinos remind me of her but twice the weight and an even more energy if that's possible.

    6,5y old Dogo argentino boy
and 1,5y old Dogo argentino girl.
With BS/GS girl upbringing and schooling were quite intuitive; I simply knew what and how. Argentino's are a bit more difficult... but after almost 7 years with them, I think I understand them.
My question is at what age do you start running with a bike or a car? All too often I see DA's owners who 'stress' their dogs from an early age in a way that I think can be disastrous for developing bones and joints.

i was doing really well using positive reinforcment as a first time dog owner.. i went and got help from a trainer who uses way more positive punishment and some corrections than ive ever done and im so uncomfortable with the methods and it feels like my dog and i arent the same after a few months of board and train.. i put in heavy hours socializing and training milo and i knew i was making great progress.. after 2 months and milo being 2 now.. its like i have to re teach him how to do things the way i liked way more and milo is 10x more distracted after the b&T vs before. i wanna know.. is it possible to regain what i had before? because being in pubic feels much much harder than ever before and his food drive is something i worked hard on improving and now it isnt as great as it was before. she taught zero obedience and focused on some core barking issues over that span vs improving the 100+ hours i put in over a year and a half.. it just feels like milo and i arent as strong in terms of bond as before. i used to exercise him and train every day heavy and she did not do that... i feel like i shot myself in the foot . im so discouraged

I have a three year old black lab mix just turned three. I rescued/adopted her from the pound last year. She is very smart and made me her bitch😱🤣🤪😂
I didn’t realize it until my family told me. All fun aside. Can my baby still be trained like your babies at her age?

Yo ! Why do you say "aus" and "Platz" but for "sit" you use "assi" ? Why are you mixing french and german?

He’s an absolute moron. Has no clue what he’s doing. Basically just abuses dogs for views.

@@modernmalinois thank you for replying I felt the same but not informed enough to say what you just did.. throwing the dogs around tugging them on leashes looks really cruel and somehow he's regarded as one of the best dog trainers. I don't get it.
