Your daughter is precious. So helpful. Love to see her working with Dad. Great memories being made. I did with my Dad and loved helping and doing things with him up till he passed away 2 years ago. I miss that special time with Dad.
That is so sweet! Thank you so much for sharing that! :)
When she placed the piece of firewood sideways on the top, I expected you to distract her for a second "Hey look, a unicorn!"
My little girl just moved to Florida she was my helper time go's fast so you love that kid .
I am humbled at the simplicity of this. Glad I found this vid, it is just what I needed.
I’m glad it was helpful! Thanks! 😆
The daughter Is why I stayed. Adorable with a lesson. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks! 😄
Great job and have pretty much the same. As a 70 year old Grandpa I just about teared up to see your Daughter helping and Supervising the Build.
"This firewood rack looks like a fantastic solution for keeping firewood organized and easily accessible! I love how simple and straightforward the design is, making it perfect for DIY enthusiasts of all skill levels. Plus, the use of basic materials and minimal tools means it's budget-friendly and can be assembled in no time. This would be a great addition to any backyard or outdoor space, especially for those who enjoy cozying up by the fire during the colder months. Thanks for sharing this easy-to-follow tutorial!"
Thanks so much! I’m glad to hear it.
My husband and I needed a solution for firewood storage and we found several options but yours seemed easy enough for even us two old people to make and way less expensive. We have a lot of wood to buck up so we built two just like you've shown here and they're working out great! 👍😁❣️
So happy to hear that! Thanks for letting me know. I’m happy my video could help! :)
Works great if your fire wood is all the same size! Great idea!
Your ingenuity is only surpassed by your parenting skills. Your idea and the suggestions be others make a lot of sense.
I can attest to the importance of empowering your daughter and giving her great positive feedback. My father-in-law did the same. He also told her she could do anything she wanted. She took him to heart. She's a nurse practitioner and a nurse midwife. She ended up going back to school to get her PhD and is now a tenured professor and director of a nursing school. I'm forever indebted to my father-in-law for his love and encouragement of his daughter.
Thanks! 😁 That’s amazing! Thanks so much for the encouragement!
Thank you for this mate...I saw this video a couple of years ago and have been waiting to build it. I like the temporary nature of this design as it should be easy enough to take apart if and when i move house..I made a couple of small modifications by adding some struts to support the felt roofing but this is such a simple and quick build...Many thanks again
I love it! It was easy and simple yet elegant. Your video length was perfect and your helper precious. Great example dad!
who the hell cares about elegant when it comes to stacking firewood??? You must be rich city folk....
@@bultacowally no I'm a rancher who lived in a wall tent for 3 years while I built my own cabin. Simplicity and efficiency are things of beauty to me. You don't have to be rich or city folk to enjoy the finer things in life.
So glad you took the time to demonstrate this, was at a loss as to how to store in our small yard. Love this!!
Kudos for the help.Never stop a little one from helping. You are making lifelong memories
You are a good father letting your daughter learn while helping 😊.
You are so kind, Thank you! She really loves working with me on projects so I try to soak that up for as long as it lasts :)
Just made this today after doing lots of research on different diy ideas. Absolutely love it. Thank you!!
Thanks so much!! 😀 Glad to hear it!
We're old! We had wood delivered recently and the man stacked it so terribly, it fell the next, and we had a MESS to pick :(. Your plan is ideal for us! And, it's easy peasy for two old people to build and enjoy! Thank you for taking the time to film and explain clearly. :) ♥♥♥
I'm so glad the video was helpful! My father in law also built one of these after he saw mine and he really likes it so far. :)
So simple! I have been wondering about what solution im going to have to stackup my wood for several weeks now till the next year.
Finally seems like have found a solution! Simple, easy and cheap.
What is nice about this design is that it is easy to alter if you use more wood or stack higher or have longer pieces...all you have to do is alter the lengths of the wood and add a few more cinder blocks - very practical and simple!
I just bought materials and built this exact structure in one day. I wish I could show you guys! But now I need to be able to hold more wood! Thanks guy!
Thanks! 😀 So happy to hear it!
Well done. Clever thought. And so cheap. This is very sufficient. And when the kids are helping, It halves the needed time. Thanks for the upload. Greetings Dirk Belgium.
Great video. Love how your daughter is helping. She is adorable.
Thank you so much! it's so fun working with her :)
Really like the idea thanks for the video. Instead of stapling the tar paper on top, I saw another video where a guy would just put a couple pieces of split wood on top to hold his covering down.
Thanks so much! 😃 that’s actually what I ended to doing through out the winter when I was slowly using the wood and covering it back up to keep dry.
Your a great Dad!! The most important job you have!!
Your lil helper did a great job!
love your little helper. You are truly blessed.
Thanks so much! 😁
Good job on the wood rack! It always helps to have a good apprentice!
Thanks! Yes it does :)
Glad this showed up on my feed this morning. We have been using the old kennel area where the previous owners kept their dog (mine was a large couch potato, not outdoorsy unless i was out there with him 😂) so we left up 2 sides of the kennel fencing, put in plastic slats on them (for the neighbors sake), repurposed a bunch of HD beams and laid them on top of the paver made floor and stacked 1/2 a maple tree and covered the top with a tarp.
Not as nice looking but its doing its job. When we use it up for the winter we may tweak the system. I like the visual appeal of your setup much better but we have to work with what we have to be functional first. Definitely keeping this design in mind if we change anything up.
Great and simple build , on the ends if you want you can fill the holes with fast set quikrete. Also a wonderful helper you have.
Nice job and great little helper 😊 here in Finland we make long stacks too with no piles at the end.
For start we stack every layer across so the stack stands itself and same thing to the other end. Now you can stack rest of the firewood in between 😊😊😊
LOVE the little helper and her wheel barrow... such a cutie!
Thanks so much! 😁
Just built this. Super easy and works great. Thanks for the video 🍻
Great idea! I lover your cute little helper. She's got a great work ethic!
Thank you! 😄
What a great helper she's doing all the work 👏
Yeah, haha. Thanks! 😄
Your little helper (daughter?) is adorable. Nice to see her learning and being active. Stay safe.
Excellent! Thanks for sharing. Your little girl is adorable!
Thanks so much!! 😀
Straight forward and to the point. Thanks!
Thanks! 😁
I’ve seen similar designs to this like you mentioned, but I like the bracing you do at the bottom of yours. One things I’ve been wrestling with is, putting spacing between the racks. Last year, I just threw down pallets and stacked a couple rows across. But I feel like there wasn’t good enough light exposure or air movement to the inward facing parts of the rows. I like the compact look of two rows, but I want to make sure it’s dried out well before tossing in my burner.
Thanks! I did think about spreading them apart a bit to help with the drying but the ground I was building this on wasn't very stable and on a bit of a hill, so I was worried that they could tip over. Two rows together added more stability but less air flow.
Thanks!
OMG!! I miss having a lil helper! So cute. Gonna build this later today
Absolutely great video... I will be using this style next season!! Thanks for sharing...
Really like this, much easier and cheaper than a full blown wood shed. There is another style very similar to this I had seen before and actually built 6 of at my last house, instead of a 2x4 base on top of the blocks it used 2 landscape timbers, I like the way you did it alot better cause the base is screwed together and is much less likely to move around as your getting the first 2 layers of wood on it unlike the landscape timbers.
Thanks so much! 😁
That is a very good idea. Thanks for the video. That is an awesome little helper you have there. Cute little kid. Reminds me of our granddaughter.
Thanks so much! 😄
Best wood rack I have ever used. Was planning on building something more permanent but these racks are so flexible, I no longer see the point.
That’s awesome! Thanks! 😁
Great idea! It is very helpful to me. I use your idea for my firewood storage. Thanks!
So happy to hear it! Thanks so much! 😁
Omg this is genius 👏👏👏. Great helping hand you got too 🤗
Made it with 12' 2X4s and it works and looks great. Wood is up off the ground..........Thank you for the idea.
Glad it helped! Nice work!!
looks great and super easy construction! Ma have to use this!
Thank you! 😄
Seen a couple of these … gonna make one for myself…. Great helper too!!
Thanks! Good luck with your build!
I am going to use this idea. Thank you!! I had an ash tree taken down because it was sick and dying. I need a quick and easy place to store firewood until we can use it in our new firepit. ❤ Thanks 😊
Thanks! I'm glad I could help!
Good job, boy
Your daughter is so helpful and nice 😊
Hello from France 🇫🇷
Hello! And thanks! 😄
Your little cutie helping is something amazing 💖🧚
Thanks so much! 😁
Thanks for this tutorial! I just made this and it worked great and looks good at the back of our yard. Thumbs up!
So glad to hear it! Thanks 😄
Love this so much! Especially your helper!
So glad! Thank you! 😁
You have the best helper sir
Best construction ever! Thank you!💯
Thanks! I appreciate it! 😁
Loved to watch it. Reminded me when my kids were small and "helping" out when handling the fire wood. 😀.
Greetings from Sweden 🇸🇪.
Thanks so much! 😁 I appreciate it!

84.00 and an hour and it was done. Thank You for Idea and the Video. I have a cord and a half on the exact rack you designed..
Excellent! Thanks ☺️
The cutest video, your little helper stole the show.😊
😊 thank you
Nice, thanks from France
Excellent idea !
Great video. Will use this as inspiration for my own project 😀 Thanks!
Awesome helper there
I'm using very similar racks. Two seasons now with these racks in my covered wood shed on concrete slab floor. Very stable, conveniently modular, very happy. An issue I had this winter with my new additional racks outside for extra "back stock" wood laid in for a couple years out is tipping. One of the 5 racks even fell over. The issue turned out to be unrelated to the racks themselves. On some of the late winter warmer days, with above freezing temps and some sunshine, the side of the racks that got the most sun had thawing of the soil under the cement blocks. But the backside stayed shaded by the firewood, so the ground on that side stayed frozen. So the blocks sunk into the soil just a little bit on the warm side. That little bit magnified the lean as it went up the 4ft height, creating some sketchy leaning racks. My plan this spring is to knock the remaining racks down, re-level and really tamp the soil down hard. Then I''ll put down three 16" square cement pavers as broad foundations for the cinder blocks. I think the narrow edges of the blocks just didn't have enough surface area, and dug into that melting soil. Will take a year to see if my plan works. LOL
Thanks for the tips! 😁
Just found this video. It’s the perfect solution for us. Thank you!
So glad to hear it! Thanks! :)
@@SimonSaysDIY Built 4 of them and have them filled. Couldn’t be happier! Thanks again!
Hi, its a great quick Idea. Thx.
Cutting your rounds to the right length is key for this setup. Thanks!
Yes it is. If it is too short it will fall through the bottom rack and if too long it will throw off the stack behind it.
Thanks! :)
100% the correct way.the air under the rack is the most important point.👍👍😄😄🇩🇪
Thanks so much! 😁
Awesome, I'm going to try this, thanks, much appreciated!
Glad to hear it! Good luck 😄
Thank you. Its great idea.
You are most welcome!
Great idea simple works
Thanks! 😄
I love this design, I have had a similar setup for 3 year at this point. You really only need to lay the 2 2x4s down in the middle, and put the supports on the outside of them. 1 cinderblock per side and 1 in the middle for support has held a 10' run 5' high without any issues. Love the setup!
Nothing wrong with over building
@@josephsaia5527 nope. Except the extra cost 😂
I do the same for mine.. the boxed runners do look nice.. but two stable down the middle works just fine.
I'm having a hard time visualizing what you're saying. Don't the 2x4's sag if they are laying flat?
@@busterbcookI put a cinder block on each side and a third in the middle to prevent any sagging
I love it, great idea. Thanks for sharing
You are so welcome!
Thanks mate. Works for me in Australia.
Good to hear! Thanks! 😁
Awesome thank you
Good idea!
Great idea. I will try it.
A great little helper you have..!
Thanks!! 😊
Worked great - just put it up. Thanks!
Great to hear! Thanks so much! :)
I like how simple it is, What I have learned about stacking is adding more uprights in the middle helps make room for new wood to fill what space you emptied. Keeps the new stuff separated from more seasoned wood.
That’s a good idea. Like 4 or 6 sections instead of two huge sections. Thanks.
How would you modify this design to create those uprights? Like adding upright 2x4's everywhere in between where there are holes in the cinder blocks?
@@aoe2geek that would work. What will happen is the ends in the dirt will rot so if you can add something to the end grain to keep it from wicking water your uprights will last longer. I built 4x4x4 foot crates and all my uprights are going bad as the end grain is in contact with the ground. My loss can be your gain.
@@markw2266 yes, that's a great point. I've also seen guys put a capblock under the cinderblock as a barrier. So the 2x4 sits on that instead of the ground. It seemed like a good idea. I really love the idea of making the platform of 2x4's at the bottom versus just laying a landscape timber or something down there. Great idea. Thanks for sharing!
Dip ends in Flexseal or similar, use/treat w boiled linseed oil or spray several coats o' flex seal, etc
Great little helper ❤️
Thanks! 😄
Cool idea!! Thank you!
Thanks! 😄
Been using a similar setup to this for years. The one thing that I do is using treated lumber for the end pieces. We have termite issues around here and they'll find those boards that contact the ground.
Yeah, same here. The termites are bad here so I made sure I used pressure treated 2x4s.
Thanks! 😁
Sometimes the simplest solution is the best; this looks like a great, simple idea. Esp. like the way the 2x4s sit in the concrete blocks at just the right to stay in place.
Love this Video!! Great parenting and job 🙌🙌🙌 greetings from Austria
Thank you! 😄 I really appreciate it!
Excellent!
Many thanks!
Nice job! i’ve been burning wood since 1990 the dryer the wood the better it burns keep it off the ground good job!
Thanks! 😁
looks great and will work
Thanks!! 😁
👏 thanks for sharing👍
No problem 👍 thanks!
Awesome idea!!
Thanks! 😄
Excellent. Thank you
Thanks so much! :)
Everyone is making the same racks with angled ends. A simple 2" space block will make those ends straight up for a better rack where you can continue another rack next to it and save two pieces of lumber.
Good tip! When I put two next to each other, I combine them and remove the boards in the middle and make one long rack. But making the end board stand straight up would look really nice 👍🏻
This is great!!!
Thanks!! 😁
What a great helper………..👏
Yeah she’s pretty great! Thanks! 😁
Nice job.
This was really helpful.
So glad to hear it! Thanks! 😁
Great video bro. Thank you
Thanks! I appreciate it! 😁
Congrats on having a very mature intelligent helpful little trainee.
Presumptuous, aren't we? Not enough evidence to come to that conclusion.
Just messin' witcha...
Thank you. I need a wood shed but still not sure where to put one long-term. This is a good option.
Thanks! I appreciate it! 😁
