Guess he ruled out Queens, Kings or Aces as they would have 4bet pre-flop, but P10, P8, P6 could also be played like that.

I find Airball’s chip movement so questionable. On the last hand vs Mariano he makes multiple forward motion and chip placements that could easily insinuate a call. IMO he’s obviously trying to gather information by the way he’s moving his chips.
These guys play with eachother all the time.. this isnt a 2-3 game with a random at your local casino.

The river bet by Nik was atrocious and then tanking for that long to call is even worse. I sometimes think why people play with him but then the answer is obvious.
This is actually such a nasty spot to be in if your Nik. Obviously Mariono had quads but if your Nik you just have to click call especially with a spade which eliminates A-j/K-JS combos. Mariano is certainly capable of doing this with A-q/A-k with the ace of spades. The raise on the river is so fucking polar its nuts. Sometimes you just have to pay them off

The great thing about this situation is that you can experiment with things, like after niks river bet what would be the absolute least that mariano could raise?, i'm kinda new to poker and wonder if something looked like a pure value bet would work as a bluff? of course he doesn't have to bluff , but if he did have to would a clear value bet work?

Mariano's the type of player who would put you on an overpair and turn a pair into a bluff on the river - the problem is when he calls flop AND turn when Nik is betting into 2 players on both streets, he just doesn't have enough of those hands in his range imo. Like he probably just folds 67 on the turn, might also fold most of his 8x because it's just not a very good spot with a player behind him.
Great 2 hands shown -- first shows a hand where mariano has discipline and can make the right call. And the next is the contrast with Nik who never can read the board or come up with the right story.
I would ran into 79 of spades with quads at a casino with a bad beat jackpot qualifier of quad fives or better.

The math is the same for everyone in the long run. Has it occured to anyone that they focus more on some players because of ratings?
