@dude look at her butt H90 delirious it's not dumb, and I see no problem with it. English isn't my mother tongue but the distinction between "If" and "When" completely makes sense to me, and it's surprising and weird to me that some people from the west seems to have a hard time making sense of it.

Oh man, every time I see Electrumite I'm reminded of that one video of Jerome trying to explain why they banned her since they didn't want Pendulum decks to become more and more soup like, all the while a Dragon Link player was vomiting his entire monster line up on the field for the whole world to see.
The irony was so thick, you could use a sledgehammer to break through it.

This also applies to fusion cards that use materials from the deck, apparently. Clearly Future Fusion, Brilliant Fusion and to a lesser extent Neos Fusion, Red Eyes Fusion and Fusion Destiny thanks to Anaconda, those STILL haven't been enough to stop Konami from printing yet another broken one, and probably the strongest of the bunch ever since Future Fusion in Branded Fusion.
@@joanaguayoplanell4912 well tbf that’s more of a Verte being too op problem. If these spells couldn’t use mats from the deck or some alternate way then they’d be heavily handicapped since Fusion is already the worse extra deck type mechanically
@@streetgamer3452 many decks prefer to hard-draw those cards. Even REF in certain decks that can work around the summon limit like Subterror and Eldlitch.
Branded Fusion can't even be used by Anaconda.

21:01 I think you mean if they changed its materials to “Metalfoes” monsters, because “Heavymetalfoes” just refers to the link monsters. If it required 2 “Heavymetalfoes” monsters, it’d be pretty much impossible to bring it out because the only other one is Amalgam whose arrows point left and right.

In the OCG
Astrograph and many other pendulum magician cards are limited. Even obscure cards like Harmonizing Magician.
OCG meta is control focused not combo.
Which is why Max C and Skill Drain are allowed at 3.
Sky Striker mobilize Engage is Semi Limited in the OCG
First of all : NON of the endymion cards are restricted in the ocg
Second of all: engage is at 2 yes but they have only 1 kagari
They also have starving vemon at three which can copy electrumite's effect , which allows you to use her effect again

Really the major problem of Summon Sorceress is that it's generic to summon and summons generically. (In fact if we're going to be realistic that's the problem with a lot of extra deck monsters and the ideal fix to the entire game would be making it so they all require at least one specific monster, type, attribute, or archetype).
Instead of the banishing, limiting it's summon and effect to Spellcasters would be a fairly big blow and it would boost a few decks that would greatly appreciate it rather than just being another generic insert.
If there needed to be another effect, locking you into only being able to special summon Spellcasters for the rest of the turn (or even during the turn you used that effect at all) would be a huge limit that would also not entirely shut down the decks that need the help.
If she summoned only spellcasters she would basically be just another Selene
@@marco4317 not really, selene special summons from gy whereas sorceress summons from deck which is busted. And selene requires counter removal to activate.
Konami, please just unban Electrumite, it's far less broken than some Link 2s which are at 3 like Isolde or Halq. *cries*
Isolde should have a limitation in her materials to being "2+ Noble Knight or Infernoble Knight monsters", because she is WAY too strong as a warrior generic support

@@user-ashborn16 It's worth remembering the context that at the time she was released she (and a bunch of the LVP1 Links) were intended to be generic type/mechanic supporting links to mitigate the restrictions in MR4. The effects were supposed to be related to the archetypes they're a part of (Isolde sending equips, Halq doing things on your opponent's turn for example) but generic enough that they still functioned as type support.
Honestly I think Isolde is fine right now. Yes, summoning potentially any warrior from the deck has incredible potential, but due to the sheer number of garnets you have to run to get anything of a decent level, it had better win you the game there and then. With the key pieces of warrior combo decks banned, Isolde isn't really an issue. Though if we ever get a powerful low level warrior it could be trouble.
I’ll trade Verte Anaconda onto the ban list to get Electrumite off the list - Verte’s probably gonna be put there soon, might as well try and get something off in exchange

Tbh, the reason I was confused with pendulum summon because it feels like it is generating so much board advantage for two cards
I still find it kinda weird that Pendulums go to the extra deck instead of the graveyard. I've gotten more familiar with how modern summoning mechanics work, but Pendulums going to the extra deck still feels like it's being different "just because", rather than having an intuitive reason as to why.
The reason why is so you can Pendulum summon them back after they've destroyed. It really feels like Konami just had a whole bunch of ideas for summoning mechanics that they just decided to cram into Pendulums in all honesty. It really feels like I discover something new with Pendulums every time I read about them.
@@theandroid5282 Pendulums are a weird mishmash of the original monsters that could be played as spells in the anime (when they translated some manga spells as monsters) and permanent reviving cards. Sprinkle in extradeck shenanigans and mass summoning based on levels.
Small wonder that most pendulum decks aren't fun.
They tend to work best for me when either they only have 1 effect or when they all have 1 simple shared effect, pendulum or monster, and the other effect something else.
@@davidtowers1863 try solfachords, they are tons of fun and rather simple! But you won't top any ycs with em 😅 you probably wouldn't top any ycs with any pend deck for that matter, so there's that.
there’s actually a pretty good reason for that and it’s the same reason why limiting how many pend monsters can be summoned from the extra deck has heavily nerfed the mechanic, you go -2 to even start the combo to begin with so being able to cycle the pend monsters u put into the spell/trap zones into the extra deck and then being able to pend summon them made it viable
I started watching your videos as pretty much a genwunner with old yugioh DM knowledge and a faint idea of the GX-era stuff. Used you and duel links to catch up to the modern era
If they made Number 95, banish cards instead, then that could really up my Gren Maju deck. I am already using 107, C107, for effects and beatstick, 4500 is hard to beat over.
Thunder Dragons would probably abuse that, too.
Neat, I've been wanting a Top 10 cards that are good because of their cost, and didn't realize Denglong and Number 95 would also count. Even Electrumite could be counted since destroying Pendulum scales is often a benefit.
All Electrumite needs is to be at 1 imo, really hope it comes back
Konami unbanning Heavymetalfoes would mean that they would have to admit they don't hate Pendulums, so I doubt it'll happen
The meta has evolved to the point where there are threats far greater than pendulums.

I've noticed on alot of top 10s or banned cards, Herald of the Arc Light is usually mentioned along side a card with easy special summons for why they are so good. What would happen if Arc Light was banned? does a "top 10 cards that would change Combos if banned" be an interesting top 10 to work with?
Yes but it would be a mess to organize such a complex video.
You first need to choose a card (Herald of the arc light? So be it) then you need to think of every combo that uses it
On the top of my head:
Nekroz kaleidoscope send Herald for Unicore then search whatever you need
Denglong negate then summon Herald
Gishki hand loop summon Zaborg then dump the fuck out of your extra

Unlikely. Herald of the Arc Light supports both Synchros and Rituals most especially. It's not a hard card to out by any means.
A lot of the cards are problematic without arc light anyways. The advantage you get from linkross is enough to force an interruption which is the unhealthy part.

Imperial Order might be the 1st errata'd card to be unbanned and then banned again because floodgates are more or less not fun.
I am currently a duel links only player who watches these videos because I am curious about the tcg and also because I want to learn about future cards and mechanics that may make it into duel links (Also your videos are great). The pendulum tutorial was helpful to me and probably to others like me, especially since u make Duel links videos too.
Also I have a DL-TCG crossover video idea:
Top ten cards banned in the TCG that are unlimited in Duel Links.
Because of the lower power level of DL you might think at first glance that there wouldn’t be any cards that qualify for this list but there are actually a good number for various reasons.
Here is the list of all of the ones that I know of in no particular order:
-Ancient Fairy Dragon
-Block Dragon
-Glow-Up Bulb
-Jet Synchron
-Blackwing Steam The Cloak
-Eclipse Wyvern
-Orcust Harp Horror
-Samsara Lotus
-Smoke Grenade of the thief
It might make sense to also include a few cards that are only limited in the TCG like
-Infernity Archfiend
-Miscellaneousaurous
-Gem Knight Master diamond
-Into the void
If he doesn’t make the video or people are curious, below is a list of explanations for why the banned cards aren’t banned in DL.
-Ancient Fairy Dragon: Not as many broken field spells to abuse, although starting with a field spell skill u can get an easy search of a necrovalley which is probably the most practical. For floaters we are basically limited to the FA ones, and FA isn’t meta at the moment.
-Block Dragon: Same reason it wasn’t banned in the TCG till recently. Rock sux, though not nearly as much historically in DL. Block dragon decks were pretty strong when we still had grass. Speaking of which if you made this list a year and a half ago ‘that grass looks greener‘ would be number one easily.
-The Halqifibrax Brigade (Glow-Up Bulb, Jet Synchron, Blackwing Steam the Cloak) these are not banned because no Halqifibrax. We don’t have destrudo but if we did it would get banned lol. Steam the cloak probably deserves a special mention in the video for being abusable with other links.
-Eclipse Wyvern: less OP dragons and less graveyard dragons. Though they did give us Levianeer for some god forsaken reason, and that is almost always what you search with Eclipse Wyvern. If that gets banned in the TCG it will be added to the list.
-Orcust Harp Horror: No Dingirsu and like half of the rest of the archetype. Best use in DL is with Desperado Barrel Dragon
-Samsara Lotus: No consistent FTK yet. Probably the best we have right now is to use flare metal dragon and summon Slifer to opponents field to repeatedly destroy samsara and activate Flare Metal’s Effect.
-Wind-Up Carrier Zenmaity: No hunter so no hand destruction. I think we are probably also missing some other wind ups but that is the big one. This card did facilitate a one card Fortune Lady Every play (a synchro that is difficult to summon in DL outside of certain decks) that was part of getting a skill nerfed but that is about it.
-smoke grenade of the thief: no infernobles basically, was decent in the early days when storm + wild tornado was a very common removal option.
This is already the longest comment ever so Here is a quick rundown of the limited cards.
-Infernity Archfiend: Missing support/Extra deck options
-Miscellaneousaurous: way less dino support.
-Gem Knight MD: limiting lapis was enough to rein in ftk in DL.
-Into the void: less graveyard effects, harder to meet hand size requirement with 4 card starting hand.

Apparently, someone at Konami's office has stated that Electrumite makes every pendulum archetype play the same, hence why they don't want to unban it.

More likely that Astrograph Sorcerer could return tbh. But i think Pend will get Skullcrobat Joker back first.
They should ban Nightingale, limit SK Dragon Starving Venom and Astrograph Sorcerer. That would help pendulum so much and since SK SV only copies to the end phase - without a FTK/OTK possibility it would be just a "powerful" extender that Pendulum needs a lot. If you leave it on the field , it would just be a 2800 Beatstick with piercing on your opponents turn.
And now after her ban , every pendulum deck right now is just needle fiber selene turbo

Electrumite is one of the card that should just be archetype specific if they don’t want people to play it outside the archetype in everything. When would Konami learn to put restriction on cards so they can’t be used widely outside their purpose, make this material only Metalfoe monsters, Union carrier can only equip Union monster….

I was just waiting for Dark Matter Dragon because it lets me talk about this broken combo you could pull off with it.
It involved Amorphage Goliath and Arkbrave Dragon. Now it’s been a while since I’ve used Arkbrave, so I don’t remember it’s full effect. I do, however, remember Goliath’s effect.
Basically, what you would do is set up to summon Dark Matter, use its mill effect and send any three dragon cards including Amorphage Goliath to the graveyard. You would then special summon Goliath using Arkbrave’s effect, which would lock your opponent out of summoning from their extra deck indefinitely.
This affected you too, but since you had Dark Matter out, it didn’t matter. Unless your opponent got rid of Goliath, they could not use their extra deck unless they used Amorphage’s. This one combo basically crippled their entire strategy.

Wait so that how pendulum work, I thought how pendulum work is watching triff making 69 negate through any handtraps.
summon sorceress can also have the restriction that instead of 2+ monsters of the same type except tokens to be 3 non-link monsters of the same type except tokens. Besides to only use yang zing as materials, denglong could also send yang zings to gy instead of any wyrm. for dark matter it can also have the restriction that it can only be special summoned once each turn the alternate way and the dragon it mills will be only photon or galaxy monsters. With electrumite i would also say those changes.

I know a lot has been said about how great and informative these videos are, but I'll have to commend the choice of background music. I don't know what music database DL uses for his videos, but I can't stress enough what an enjoyable experience watching his videos is and a big part of that is due to his choice of music. He must've been great at making presentations back in college.
I vote that we refer to verte anaconda, electrumite, halquifibrax, and the bujin link collectively as the “dimension links” since they are effectively generic support for their summoning type and have the same summoning requirements as the mechanic

Would you consider after this series is done doing the same thing, but for limited cards? I think it could be pretty interesting seeing that middle line where the cards are super good, but not quite completely broken and hearing about why that is.

I loved the yang zing arctype when I played. Was literally the deck I had the most fun with. I was running it with metalfols which was surprisingly consistent.

Dark Matter needs restriction on only sending dragon "Galaxy" "Photon" as well as only once per turn with limit to one copy. The attacking twice is good but Galaxy already has prime that can shoot up to crazy levels of damage and others that do a lot too like possibly Tachyon attacking twice or Ciphers stealing monsters and the Cipher that did the stealing still being able to attack directly.

There are some cards that people predict could be taken off in the near future. Duellogs for the most part has covered cards that we think will remain banned and so fulfills it’s spot as a banned card. It would be a bit awkward going over a card that was banned only for it to get unbanned a few weeks later. It doesn’t invalidate its power, it just looks less credible.
@@someonline Not invalidating any of your points overall but I thought I would offer a little known tidbit of advice to consider. The words it's and its are one of, if not the only exception to the possessive contraction methodology. When you want to say something is possessed by 'it', you would say 'its', instead of the usual rule of the apostrophe before the 's'. 'It's' like this is the contraction for 'it is', so while I'm well aware it's an easy mistake to make for anyone familiar with the usual possessive strategy, I thought it would be beneficial for folks to be made aware of that. Again, not invalidating your message, It just would make it look more credible to incorporate.
Before you ask, no I'm not an English teacher, which is why my paragraph wall probably looks pretty sloppy. I may in fact be a bit of a jerk, though.

they've must've changed how pendulums work when they added the link monster zone because before then you could just summon em all ery time.
After everything they did to finish off pendullum the least they could do is allow electruumite back.

Even with ur suggested restrictions, the ftk used originally with Summon Sorc would still work, the one with gellenduo and red eyes flare.
Also didn't see it til this video, but Endymion and Astro standing in the same pose, even the hand. Electrumite makes pendulum decks break even
Even with your erata for Summon sorceress, it would be an easy 1 monster link 5 with halquifibrax.
And even if halquifibrax is banned, having a way to turn any link 3 into a link 4 with no cost would be broken.
Yet another video provong to me that all "When" effect cards should be errata'd to "If" and if that would make some cards overpowered, then the banlist can be used.
I'd love to see a video showing how powerful some "When" cards would become if they got an errata to their effect to replace "When" with an "If."
Thanks for the Pendulum Summon tutorial. I don't play Yu-Gi-Oh since Xyz and I also don't get anything about Link Summon.
So basically 90% of the banned monsters could be fixed by being non generic. I think of would solve in general most problems if they would stop printing strong generic cards and concentrate more on individual archetypes with specific strong cards.

Pendulum got heavily nerfed is kinda an understatement, consider the fact that the entire link monster and master rule 4 is aimed just to hit pendulum mechanic
More so every mechanic. Not just pendulum. Sucks that Master Rule 5 didn’t change crap for pendulums.
Denglong also let you go into VFD/TKC super easy in dinos as well
Yea, Summon Sorceress was out for a year IF you got the Jump promo which was only available in NA and hard to get.
The rest of us plebs only got to play around with the card for about 5 months as the regular release was in december 2018.

You could probably fix Denglong by just locking it to only wyrm monsters, as so it could be used with Swordsoul and tenyi
I understand why number 95 was banned, but I miss using it along side cipher dragon. Opponent has Infinity, I can take control of it off of cipher dragon, summon dark matter, then use it to mill out Ancients, Arkbrave, and divine dragon lord felgrand. I honestly hope this card comes off the list one day via errata or even power creep
After the explanation of how pendulum summoning works I still have absolutely no idea how it works.
If you have a pendulum monster in each pendulum zone (left and right spell/trap zones, ones with the pretty red and blue diamonds), you can summon five monsters from your hand. This also works with pendulum monsters from the extra deck, but with master rule 4 restrictions.
Explaining every errata (that wasn’t just a wording change) necrovalley can probably just have it’s own episode

funny you mention no-one using the new mechanic when it debuts regarding the first round of synchro and xyz monsters since goyo came out, busted in half in the 2nd 5ds set and, after everyone had ignored pendulums to focus on shaddolls, qliphorts came along in the 2nd arc-v set and were similarly busted in half
since Summon sorceress negates effect of summoned monsters, you could summon monsters with negative effects.
I still missed Summon Sorceress in my Silent Magician deck.

Well yes Dark Matter Dragon got banned when we got the Guardragons, but thats because they made Gandora FTK more consistent - in which Number 95 played a key role. So the FTK is the reason it got actually banned.
The fix of not activating the cards it sends that turn wouldnt work, because the worst thing Number 95 can setup is the Amorphage Lock and Arkbrave Dragon would activate its effect in the opponents standby phase to special summon Amorphage Goliath. I wonder how much of a problem that would be these days.
