- In line with his People's Charter of Needs blueprint on Health which is aimed at achieving quality Health Care Service Delivery through the State Teaching and General Hospitals, His Excellency, Right Honourable (Dr) Francis Nwifuru, Governor of Ebonyi State earlier today donated SUV Changan Jeeps to all the Medical Doctors working in the 13 General Hospitals in the State.
Handing over the vehicles to the Doctors, Governor Nwifuru represented by his Chief Press Secretary, Dr. Monday Uzor, urged the Doctors to ensure they use the vehicles for their purposes in order to improve Healthcare delivery to the People.
On-behalf of the Doctors, Dr. Okata Nwali assured the Governor that they would work hard to revive the Health Care sector of the State and bring them to the level desired by him.

What happen to Innoson SUVs??? As long the money was not spent to grow the economy of southeast, its a waste of opportunity. We still haven't learn yet. Sending dollars to South Korea is just plan stupidity of a black man.

With all due respect to him, Gov Nwifuru has embarked on a wrong-headed income redistribution policy that is bound to create and exacerbate inequality rather than reduce poverty in his state. Within a short span of time Ebonyi resources are being diverted to already well off sections of the community: civil servants, medical doctors, traditional rulers etc. who are getting more while everyone else de chop konkiri.
Meanwhile there is no viable mass transit system accessible to the masses, no bus stops in Abakaliki etc. If the SUVs are sourced from a local manufacturer like Innoson, one could defend it on the basis of the multiplier and accelerator effect on other sectors, but no. Every public policy of this sort ought to be subjected to rigorous impact assessment at least.
That said, I wish him well.

Meaning what exactly? You think its ok to collect taxes from kpiri-kpiri petty traders, peasant farmers, keke/okada riders etc. who have no access to basic services and use the same to buy free SUVs for those already better off? And everyone should just applaud or what? One could even argue that given the finitude of resources and in the context of extreme poverty, those gifts directly harm patients and those doctors should reject the gift to uphold their Hippocratic Oath not to do any harm. Ok?

Whatever. It is still unethical to divert scarce resources from patient care to buying free SUVs for doctors. What about the cleaners, or do you think that even the best surgeon in the hospital can operate without the cleaners? The governor himself will understand that critic of this policy mean well for him.

The governor is trying his best but let him try provide 18 seater buses too for taking those nurses and other staff from home to the hospitals for work

If he can achieve all these in this his one year in office. Next will be less stressful for him
