    12:05 am. Me : how septink tank work.

  • @patricksmith5640
    @patricksmith5640 Před 6 lety +224

    First, Septic tanks never have a downspout on the inlet side, that would cause the inlet to plug up. Second the hole in the divider is always at the midpoint depth wise in the tank so some of the solids sink to the bottom of the tank an other float on top. The hole in the midpoint of the tank divider helps insure that the majority of the solids remain in the first chamber. The downspout on the outlet should always be at the midway to the bottom of the tank so water with the least amount of particulates is drawn out of the tank. Particulate matter going out into the drain-field is what plugs it up an causes the field to fail. Its normal to have 2"-8" solids floating an the same settled on the bottom of the tank, the tank does NOT need pumped an cleaned. Humans have more germs an bacteria in our bodies than any other animal on the planet. The bacteria make the tank work. Never connect your water softener to your septic tank, because the salt from it kills the bacteria in the tank. I've been installing an repairing septic systems for over 4 decades, yup always working with the shyty end of the stick.

      The problem with these systems is that many chemicals going through the toilet like cleaners. This kills the bacteria in the septic tank and the process is not going well. All chemicals go to the plants !!! Including the hormones from the birth control pill and any other medications that come from the human body. So your Plants are poluted !!!

  • @redsoil5
    @redsoil5 Před 9 lety +99

    First, waste water from toilet bowl with feces goes down to the septic tank. Then it goes to the 1st chamber which is called digestive chamber(where most of the feces or toilet paper deposited, sludge), then it goes to the 2nd chamber which is called leaching chamber. (Should be filled by sand at the bottom then gravel at the top for screening some feces or paper which escape from the first chamber). All water that goes out of the tank are fairly clear but not treated or potable.Water then goes to the leaching field. Some feared that ground water can be contaminated with this untreated water( especially if the septic tank is wrongly designed). Leaching field should also be spread with sand & gravel then water from leaching field can now go to the vegetation or grass plantings. Note that the elevation of septic tank should be at highest point than the leaching field or vegetation as oppose to this video. Water or liquid seek its' own elevation (simple physics).

    If you redesign the passage between the tanks by installing a 4"x12"pipe 45 degree angled from the first tank to the second tank and leveled higher than the drain field hole.This way the black water will drain to the gray tank. The black water will work better and the waste will be biodegrade naturally.
    Black water is the toilet waste should go to the first tank and the gray water( sink ,shower) will go to the second tank. I built a septic tank like this and for 40 yrs I have not need maintenance.

    This is mis-named. It's actually about how a septic field works. A septic field has a septic tank but liquids from the tank can be dispersed under a wide area called the "field". On it's own, a septic tank needs to be pumped out once a month on average depending on how many people are in the house, and how big the tank is. In a septic field system, the septic tank concentrates solid waste and needs to be pumped out about once a year. Quite a difference.

    • @patricksmith5640
      @patricksmith5640 Před rokem +1

      Tanks only need pumped depending on how many are using the waste system, but generally say 4 people per a house hold tank will only need pumped 5 or more years. I have seen tanks that never been pumped in 25 years work just fine, because the bacteria eat up the solids in the tank
