      That's it exactly. Apparently premier league's top 6 had NCL in mind when these rules were brought in. Nothing to do profit or sustainability, everything to do with maintaining the status quo.

      @@ofoftheof That shows in the fact it hasn't moved in 11 years since coming out. Started at £105m and is still £105m. Premier league hasn't heard of inflation. Yup, fixed for the septic 6.

    PSR is fucking bullshit. It's supposed to help with clubs bringing their prospects through not selling them. That being said £30M for Minteh who hasn't even kicked a ball for us and £35M for Anderson who was probably our 5th choice midfielder is an absolute steal

      We shouldn't have to sell our future stars. They both were likely to be in the first team for a number of years - it won't be a steal if we have to pay more than their fees in the future for first team players in their positions. I'm sure that neither player really wanted to leave - especially Elliot.

    Clear that these rules are there to protect the cartel clubs from others muscling in on their turf. The idea of a football pyramid is those at the bottom have a hope to get to the top of the tree, clearly that door has been shut and it's a clear restriction of trade. Clubs operate as businesses. Why should the top 6 get any greater advantages than the rest of any other teams within the Leagues.
    By giving the top 6 an advantage.
    it then becomes a cartel and a restriction of trade to any of the other clubs to aspire to become the best they can, this system should change and become more transparent.
    We're the clubs put up a bond to guarantee the clubs will never go into bankruptcy and can afford to buy better plays and compete for the top spots in the world of football.

    @keith and other North East journalists.
    For me, the biggest question mark of the whole saga -- why were we FORCED to sell two outstanding young talents?
    The only explanation i can accept as a fan is because the management team had lined up commercial deals that would have made up the deficit, but for one reason or another, those deals fell through.
    Because we were counting on those deals to keep us within the 105m threshold, without them, we fell into the red.
    What were those deals? (if any)
    Why did they fall through?
    I wish the investigative journalists of the North East would find that out for us.
    If that was not the reason for the deficit, then the alternative reason is that the management team just flat out miscalculated our finances, and that's very very poor for such a senior and seasoned team.

  • @hartshaped
    @hartshaped Před dnem +1

    Certainly worth some perspective as surprising as this is, that it isn’t unique to PSR and FFP, sooner or later top clubs offload young prospects
    All the top teams have done it over the years Liverpool, Arsenal, Man City, Man Utd and Chelsea have all sold young fringe players or players they’ve given a bit of a run in the first team… it’s how we ended up with Willock, it’s how Bournemouth got Solanke, it’s how Chelsea got Palmer, how Forest got Elanga and it’s how Palace got Guehi etc… but for every player that becomes a star elsewhere there’s a few other duds that they’ve managed to shift for decent money, like Liverpool selling Ibe
    To be fair that when all players are back there’s not actually much of a pathway for Anderson into the squad and to get into the squad it’s going to mean him elevating his game above a lot of serious talent.
    Minteh is a wait and see one but knowing how the club is run, it wouldn’t surprise me if there’s a reasonable buy back and a sell on percentage should he not want to come back and if that’s the case the club have the best of both worlds, he flops and Brighton have overpaid, he succeeds and we get him back with Prem proven experience or he goes elsewhere and we continue to financially benefit from him

    Assuming PSR stays in place (and I can see a backlash against it in its current form from lots of clubs), are Newcastle going to have to go through this palaver on every June 30 now, assuming they keep buying players competitively?
    So this time next year we might have to sell Miley and Pope, and two years down the line Alex Murphy and Burn or Botman?
    Maybe Forest had the right model all along?

      For me, this is the biggest question mark of the whole saga -- why were we FORCED to sell two outstanding young talents?
      The only explanation i can accept as a fan is because the management team had lined up commercial deals that would have made up the deficit, but for one reason or another, those deals fell through.
      Because we were counting on those deals to keep us within the 105m threshold, without them, we fell into the red.
      What were those deals? (if any)
      Why did they fall through?
      I wish the investigative journalists of the North East would find that out for us.
      If that was not the reason for the deficit, then the alternative reason is that the management team just flat out miscalculated our finances, and that's very very poor for such a senior and seasoned team.

    I'd rather lose Minteh and Anderson than any of our "blue chip" players. Isak, Gordon and Bruno are, in my opinion, world class and basically irreplaceable at the moment. Anderson has potential but Lewis Miley is way better and Minteh was always going to be a gamble. Also, people are forgetting about Sandro Tonali. He did more for us on his debut than Anderson did all season.

    Gutted to see both young lads leave the club. Both will go onto be good PL players. However, losing Gordon or Isak is an absolute no go imo. PSR is an absolute joke. It’s there to cater for a few club who want to lessen the competition for CL places and these clubs play the PL and Masters like a puppet on a string. Good luck to both lads. Especially Anderson. PSR was brought in to stop clubs going out of business….okay I accept that but how does that affect the likes of Newcastle , Aston Villa for example ?. Chelsea have found loop hole after loop hole , and three teams in the Cartel despite remaining in huge debt the rules appear to favour them whilst they only have pay back 4% of their debt a year.
    Radcliffe has said the Premiere league should look after the Cartel !. Which the Premiere league have done despite the fact they should be looking after all 20 of the clubs in the Prem league .
    The Premiere league control the FA and the Cartel own the Premiere league.

    • @BaronSpamedi
      @BaronSpamedi Před dnem

      Yeah. I'm sure when the PL voted in FFP/PSR, they thought it would be a strong measure to stop owners saddling clubs with unsustainable levels of debt. Unfortunately, the rules aren't fit for purpose. They stifle competition even for clubs with no debt and owners prepared to use their own money. They have simply led to clubs finding loopholes, and they actually inhibit the ability of clubs to sell players as they approach the deadline.
