    ABOUT ANDY SAUNDERS:
    Andy Saunders, a British author and science writer, is renowned for his expertise in NASA digital restoration, particularly of iconic space exploration images. From Appley Bridge, England, and a graduate of Loughborough University, Saunders' work has been featured in prominent global media outlets such as BBC News, New York Times, and The Guardian. Notably, he produced the first clear image of Neil Armstrong on the Moon for Apollo 11's 50th anniversary and uncovered significant details about historic space missions, including Apollo 13 and Liberty Bell 7. In 2023, he received the prestigious Royal Photographic Society international Award For Scientific Imaging and his book, ‘Apollo Remastered’ has won multiple awards. His work is currently (June 2024) on display at the Lightroom in London in the exhibition ‘Moonwalkers: A Journey with Tom Hanks’.

    Presenting a new work by Andy Saunders, ‘Charlie Saluting Panorama’. This newly remastered work was created specifically for the Stall Three Studio Spring Collection, ‘Space Exploration: Past, Present, and Future’. By artistically stitching two separate frames of the original film, it provides us with a compelling portrait of Apollo 16 Lunar Module Pilot, Charlie Duke, along with the Lunar Module spacecraft that delivered Duke and Commander, John Young to the Descartes Highlands in April 1972.

    Ha! He left out the part where John Young interjected “You guys don’t salute in the Air Force do ya?” Or near enough.
    This is the guy, for those who don’t know, talked NASA nutritionist into including Grits in outer space. Then, he could badger his crewmates “Hey, you gonna eat those Grits?” Ha!
