I'd actually have to agree with this, or else when are police ever going to be held accountable, they almost never are, and there is plenty of abuse of power by police all over this country. As they say, bullies like to become cops for their power trip, but everyone knows a bully is a coward to the core! Edit: But to the men and women in blue who are good guys, they are amazing!

      Should be, yes.
But the Supreme Court said that police are immune to lawsuits and criminal charges as a result of cowardice. Scalia’s opinion made it pretty clear that police do not have any obligation to save you, or anyone else. They have no obligation to save lives, stop crime, or even prevent crime. Their sole obligation is to investigate crime after the fact.

I agree w/one of the dads here. Those officers who failed to act to save lives should NEVER be able to resign or get fired from their job there and go somewhere else in America and be employed as a police officer again, especially the chief. It was disgusting to watch one of the officers be more interested in using hand sanitizer and the other checking his phone than going in to save innocent children's lives standing there for 77 MINUTES while children are slaughtered. Most were wearing bulletproof vests and there were more than 10 of them, and they can't take down one 18 year old shooter? All these officers need to be put on a DO NOT HIRE national list for police departments to never work again. They knew the responsibilities of the job to protect and serve, and they failed horribly.

@@j.j.9123 Try understanding how doors work. So the lock of the door was functioning however the strike plate was not. The policy of the school is the doors are locked from the outside during school hours. Thus, all doors were locked.
The door the shooter walked through was open at the time. If you watch the interview with the little girl who saw it, she stated the teacher was going to close the door and the shooter stop her closing it and shot her.
The shooter closed the door thus the door is closed, locked but not secure.
This means in simple terms, when you turn the handle because the door is locked it will not turn. However, since the door is not secure when you pull at the handle the door will open.
You can't tell on CCTV if the police tried the door as the CCTV does not show the door as there is an open area in front of the doors because they swing outwards.
The DPS director was not really able to explain in detail in the senate hearing if the strike plate was completely broken or semi functioning. Means, sometimes the door may secure and other times may not. Maybe it just needs a bit of a shake to lock however. It was not clear what the case was.
So it is most likely police did try the door and found the handle would not turn because the door was locked, but possible they did not try to pull on the door handle. Or perhaps the door had secured in this case even with a damaged strike plate. We don't know at this time although it is possible.

This world is and has always been so dangerous to live in. Although very important and necessary for a child's development and future, the sad fact is that school is one of the most dangerous places to send your child to. You got fights, bullying, that dangerous commute for children in many cases, and then the ever so terrifying school shootings that are becoming ever so common. Seeing your child off to school is starting to feel like seeing them off to the Military. It's like "Hope to see you again!"

Nah suburbs are safe no shootings, no stabbings, just friendly people living life. Kids walk to school, can play outside without fear thats not normal at all. If anyone is in your community causing trouble eliminate them.

As far as school shootings go, those happen even in the Universities unfortunately. Oh, and by the way, many of us have done are dirtiest works in the Suburbs and returned back to the hood to sleep and get ready for the next day's work in the Suburbs. It makes no difference when the video was released. Why is the media taking such a strang angle at this. I want the full video released, including ALL audio. It's time to play the audio outside our representatives houses. The blood has been spilt and it's on them. Listen to the children scream and tell me it's not about guns.

Shame on this interviewer for asking the questions he did. Don't tell me those are appropriate questions. When people say the world is going crazy, I believe it. From the video being released with audio, to questions that are meant to expose people's pain, to law enforcement officers standing around for over an hour while children are murdered.

It's a shame how these so called officers seemed to be lost as to what to do, it looks like a circus with them coming and going and carrying guns as if to act courageous for what, they didn't do justice at all. They appeared lost in such a straight hallway coming and going as if to appear that they were lost and had no direction. Holding positions and forming a shield with each other as if they were ready to attack yet no action taken. If only one had taken matters into their own hands and gone in and subdued the shooter, that's all it would have taken. But to have so many law enforcement in that hallway and not take action immediately is not justifiable, these men need to be held accountable. Prayers to the families for having to endure everything.

A hallway is what's know as a "Fatal Funnel." There is no where to go and take cover if needed. A large group going down the hallway is a bad tactic. Four people is far more reasonable. The LEO's were disorganized, appear to be untrained, look more like they were getting ready to play a paintball game, and too many bunched up in the same location.
Both ends of the hall should have been covered. The windows should have been used. The LEO's should have had a coordinated response but lacked leadership and it appears that no one person on scene was looked to as a leader who could organize them. It's a poor display by the LEO's in both their training and their moral compass.

In the beginning I assumed witness statements must have been off due to the stress involved for those parents...
"Police were doing nothing" ect. It's just devastating and unfathomable to come to know now that the reports were accurate. Even after the fact and being over a thousand miles away watching the cctv footage is absolutely enraging.
I can't even begin to imagine the experience these parents had.

The video was terribly difficult to watch all the way through. To watch the lack a of any sense of urgency on the part of every officer there was horrifying. I can't imagine being a parent and seeing this footage play out. And it has to be worse being blindsided with it. That said, the release of the video does do a lot for transparency, which has been sorely lacking in this case.

Speaking of public (saftey) servants in general many of them only wear the uniform for self gratification and not to serve and protect. The video speaks the truth of public servants uniformed cowards who bully and freeze in fear when truly needed.
