- Everything you need to know about ventilator waveforms and common problems like air trapping, breath stacking / double triggering, air leak, and a brief overview of pressure-volume and flow-volume loops. Should be more than enough for a basic understanding of how to interpret these in the ICU!

i am a biomedical engineer and i work with ventilators all day.. i learned ventilators by looking at the graphs and loops by myself.. this was really a good video..
RT in a teaching facility here. Spent hours going over this with new residents every year. This is so short and informative; Iâm going to direct them to this lecture. Thanks!
Hi Dr. Liu,
We have been watching your videos for quite some time and are amazed at how knowledgeable you are. My mother is on a ventilator for life support, and I would like to ask if you offer paid consultations to check if her ventilator is set up correctly. I can send you a video of her machine, which you might be able to review and interpret its findings. We urgently need an expert opinion like yours. I hope you receive this message and consider our request.
Thank you so much!
for air trapping permissive hypercapnia could be considered as well, we could reduce Vt/rate and allow for some hypercapnia in place of risking lung injury
Thank you for that info! :)
Excellent! Very nicely done in the Time!
You are a great teacher. Thank you
Amazing video thank you !!
very good explantions. .many thanks
great lecture! thank you!
More than excellent
Excellent presentation
Thank you
1st time to watch Respiratory Therapist from Philippines.
Thank you !
Excellent explanation
Soooooooo good đđœ
Thank you so much
†loved this video
Thnx
Yo thank you this was really good
Wow. We as ICU nurses only learn in the floor and sometimes it doesnât stick. Thank you. Iâll put it in my pulmonary folder and practice. Do you have video on setting up biosphere for pulmonary edema versus copd?
Omg thank you soooo much!!!!!
He doesnt stop!!
With the great uploads :))
Cuz heâs the best
Nice, Thanks :D
ICU PA here. Love your videos! Was wondering if you could make a video on chart review tips? I do a lot of admissions that require pretty extensive chart reviews for pertinent data/prior medical history and was wondering if you may have any insight on how to go about this process optimally?
That's definitely a tough subject to cover but I agree it would be a very important and useful one! I'll see if I can make a video tackling this subject sometime in the near future :)
Will you please make avideo on triggering & cycling abnormalities? Do you have any recommended books or materials to learn about MV asynchronies?
Excellent video, great explanation!
I was wondering what books/material you suggest for a new IM resident.
The only EKG book you'll ever need (amazing), Marino's ICU book (though I still haven't even finished it lol) - UpToDate EVERYTHING and read about everything you see on there!
I noticed the pressure waveform changes depending on the mode (PC/AC), does the flow and volume waveform remain the same regardless of mode? Thank You for the video!!
They likely would change since there are some slight differences in how quickly the breath is being delivered!! Not 100% sure though on what specifics would look different
Great explanation! I find it cool to be able to identify what is wrong with the patient based on loops and scalers!
Any book recommendations for wave form?
Very informative.....we want these kinda videos.....not directly copying from text and explaining whole theory and finally end of the video u have nothing....to take away...
