You can add plenty of power to a tbi with a 700r4. I had a 92 extended cab step side Z71 with a throttle body spacer, cold air intake, small cam and a two stage b&m shift kit on it with an external trans cooler. Fastest obs 4x4 I had. It would slide sideways when it shifted in 2nd gear used to scare me to drive it in the rain babying it beside cars cause it would still slide sideways a lil babying the throttle. You wrong about not being able to add power to a 88 to 92 obs Chevy truck.
I love my OBS, I have a 94 with the 4L60 that has started leaking tranny fluid. But about 5 deals of stop leak and a quart or atf additives made her mint. Got her with 106 on the odometer and she now has 124 on her now so not too bad. My dash actually is mint and my rear main seal is mint so rock on. Will say I love the look of the old interior so much better than the 95 to 98. Would love to see a fuel economy test on your old girl, think I get 15 with my best ever being 18.

if you buy a obs always set aside money for oil a new fuel pump and more oil oh and did i say oil always have a extra gallon of oil in the bed it saved me from being stranded once but outher then that they will take on just about anything just make sure you have moeny for fuel and oil😂

Funny thing is, if you replace the fenders nobody would be able to tell you they don't match 😂 About the reliability of these trucks, I can't think of anything I'd rather have. You saw how much sludge I pulled out of the top of the motor on mine. That was a gift from the previous owner, meaning its been driven at least the past 4 years and 10k miles with that in there. Blows my mind that it still runs. Its never left me stranded anywhere but my own driveway when the alternator locked up, which was a half hour fix. These are probably the easiest "classic" vehicle to daily.

Be lucky you can actually buy replacement dashes for your year models. The 95-99 owners are screwed. Still trying to figure out that solution when I restore this my 2dr

I just got a ‘92 K1500, absolutely love the thing. I live in northern Michigan so 4wd is a must but god damn the paint is rough. It’s a western truck so no rust but it’s pretty sun faded on the passenger side and part of the roof. Also what do you recommend for a lift or level/lift combo and how big of tires you can run and still have it be a reliable daily
Yessir. Cowl hood is on the list of things that will happen never😂. Eventually. When I have the money to repaint my whole truck and get the cab corners patched

Knocking on wood my fuel pump is fine😂. And mine really doesn’t leak THAT much oil either. Maybe too it off every month or so. But man it DRINKS gas
