GREAT video. Just booked a 35-day cruise to the South Pacific on the Koningsdam. Your video provided more detail with respect to the Verandah stateroom than I have seen so thank you!
Awww 🥰 thank you! And wow! What an amazing voyage! Have a fantastic time!
I’m in a veranda room on The Koningsdam leaving in April (2024) I can’t wait! We go from San Diego to Mexico to Hawaii back to Vancouver. Thanks for showing me my room lol sad no tub though
Haha, a hot tub would be amazing for exploring Alaska for sure. Have a great sailings
Nice to show the room as lived in as opposed to the pristine condition. Gives some good reference points for how one would use the room in the real world.
That's the thinking behind it. When we are fortunate to travel onboard with the ship, we usually wait until the last day to film so we can get a real feel for what works and what doesn't. First impressions are great, but what seems like an issue at first (The night light in this case), after you get used to how it works, turns into a great feature.
Congratulations! You are the fir of many uTube cabin tours that knew what the bar was in the closer! A TIE RACK ! Way to go,
Haha, and funnily enough I never wear a tie, but I appreciate the effort for those who do wear ties, same as the leg shaving bar… can’t say I’ve personally found a use for that, but it’s great For those who do use it. Thanks for commenting.

Great cabin tour, thanks
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it.
Thanks for the info! Would you have any specific room suggestions in terms of which side of the ship or which floor? I noticed you have to pay less for the higher up floors too, so not sure what that's about.
Hey, so many cruises like to be in Midship and in a middle deck, number will vary based on the size of the ship, but that because for those who suffer motion sickness, you are less likely to feel it in the centre of the ship, than if you are higher up and forward and aft. So ships price the cabins that way out, in general at least.
You also have cabin grades based on room type, so inside, into Oceanview, then balcony, then some lines have mini suites/family suites, which tend to be larger balcony rooms just called something different, then into suite class, which can be vastly different across each cruise line.
The big things to factor in is how you personally like to cruise, i like to connect with the destination where we are sailing, so i always try to sail Oceanview or up, but we have customers who see the room as a place to sleep and nothing more so are happy with an inside.
People tend to try to avoid decks above and below ship facilities as there can be extra noise due to how much foot traffic those spaces get, and the same for avoiding the elevators for the same reason.
Modern ships have better soundproofing, so these are becoming less of an issue, but its still something to think about. A good cruise travel agent can help you find the right space on a ship for your preferences.
Are the cabin walls and your front door magnetic? I was told that I should buy magnetic hooks
We didn't test it on this ship as we don't take magnetic hooks with us, but my understanding is all ships have magnetic doors and walls for safety, so you should be ok.
