Going into this test the ABs were on a winning streak of 17 straight test wins since 1965. But all eras come to an end and the Boks were too good for the ABs in this game. When Sid Going replaced Laidlaw in the 2nd half his running game nearly turned it around. Sadly Sid Going didn't play again until the 4th test when the ABs couldn't win the series by then.
The all black coach was as thick as a short plank, he just went for open running rugby all of the time, over trained the team (one of the forwards said he needed to play more rugby, to get fit for vodanvich’s trainings) chopped and changed the test team to much, and was outfoxed by craven, who simply selected a team of hard hitting tacklers, plus McCormick was out of form, his goal kicking in this series was useless, And both teams were about to be thrashed by the Lions in 1971 and 1974, and lose at home to England in 1972 and 1973, from this point forward neither the springboks or all blacks could claim to be the best team in the world, year in year out.
Are you forgetting the British Lions of 1971 and 1974, plus the demo tour to the UK in 1969, when the Springboks could not win a test, from 1971 onwards, either the All Blacks or Springboks could claim to be the the top team in the world year in or year out, then the Aussies rapidly improved from about 1980.

Nice seeing the old games !
How could you not play Super Sid, unbelievable.
In the 2nd and 3rd tests Earl Kirton made it clear he did not want to play outside Sid Going.
The only way you could see tests from SA prior to 1976 was via film flew in from SA and had to wait until the week after the test was played
