This trap is a bit finicky in some areas. I found 2 level 150 brontos in the same area and used this trap to trap both, the first one was super easy and didn't escape. The second one was really difficult as it kept attacking the ramps and when I did get it in it managed to escape. So i made the pillars 1 extra pillar high and got it in again but this time it didn't escape. I believe this is a bit trial and error and depends on how flat the ground is but overall it's still effective.
extend the 3 tallest pillars to make them taller if you're working on uneven ground. if there's even the slightest of non-flatness within the trap, it'll escape
Sigh. Built the trap, told my wife "I don't see how this is going to work", then accidentally pulled the DIPLO that was in front ot the bronto I was after. Diplo got out - I didn't know it wasn't a bronto until I was taming it. All very embarrassing really. So I crushed up a bit more narco powder and I'm off to try again with the real bronto this time. I love the simplicity and portability of this trap.
Update: For what it's worth, bronto tame went great. Now he has a house on his back with a smithy and a cooler wandering the redwoods like a Carrier surrounded by his Battle Fleet of Sabertooths, Raptors, Carnos and Rexes - and support vessels kept super close: Lystro, and Oviraptor to catch those bronto eggs.
Tested. The desigm works in ASE even in 2024. Although I strongly recommend to extend not only the 3 tallest, but all of them to ensure bronto won't escape. Try to put 2 or 3 pillars more on top of the largest pillars and, when it is in the trap, 2 or 3 more on top of the stone ceiling
Works but not as intended I couldn't get the bronto in it but I did get it knocked out by getting it stuck on it then just circling st remember if you can't get it in it still works
It would be better to raise the pillar one more step. After some patch, it sometimes happens that three pillars are not enough. I'm sorry that it didn't work as expected.

I added one pillar to each tower and ACCIDENTALLY trapped a spino. Edit: I actually tamed it.
The trap didn’t work for completely stoping it but it did slow it down and made it easier to take
