After watching Sidesurfer Cakes none of these impress me. I've been spoiled by her skill and talent. She did a self portrait cake and I honestly couldn't tell the difference between her and the cake side by side.

Cake 4 was most realistic, but with half of it being styrofoam, I couldn't justify the price they gave. For the price, and amount and quality of cake, #3 is best imo.

I actually asked for custom flowers on my wedding cake and despite them being sugar I was able to save them. Some people might want to save what they paid a lot of money to have sculpted.

As far as I'm concerned, Cake 3 showed the most technical skill and artistry because so much of it was constructed with edible materials. If the picture was provided digitally, a monitor or printer at each bakery could have affected the perception of the hair color. Also, missed opportunity to use red velvet cake.

@@emilianylander7689 it might’ve but it was probably because it was a humongous cake, not to mention it was ALL. CAKE. cake is really hard to work with sometimes so to get that level of structural security it was amazing, they just needed to work on coloring, and making the features more similar.

@@SarouneGougoune I understand how difficult it is to do in cake - and bruh - it looked bad. The color and face structure was off, Impressive techically but going off looks - it failed and only won points for looks because it was a 3D cake.
@@lunabelletheinsane it was bad but it did show the 2nd most effort in the case. Im not gonna lie, i would rather have an edible image one if that was how it looked but for the price, quantity wise as well as effort was covered, cake 2 seemed way too overprice for the amount of cake and the fact it was an edible image. From what i usually buy, edible image has never been that expensive but ot could be because of country difference.
I was really impressed with the amount of cake in the 3rd one but the fourth one definitely had the likeness down. It's a shame the fourth cake was made with lots of foam instead of something edible. That would've pushed it over the top.

I agree, but I LOVE the look of the fourth and she said the flavour was good. Plus it does have a giant cake so I forgive it, but there is better.
I was really upset that they paid that much money for that much cake and a Styrofoam cake. The fourth cake was amazing but half of it is a Styrofoam for that amount of money I would’ve be calling and asking for half of my money back because To me they just scammed her for money. Plus any baker knows, any true baker at that knows you do not use Styrofoam for cake

@@sammyohup I didn’t say the whole cake was Styrofoam I said cake and Styrofoam. As a baker they would use rice crispy treats and Modeling chocolate to sculpt the face and head and shoulders, not Styrofoam which is what this bakery did and charged her $800 for it. Why charge that much money for a cake that you can’t even eat half of it?
I know I’m SOOO late but I bet Natalie Sideserf could sculpt the most realistic cake of yourself you’d ever see , she even sculpted a cake of mr. beast and herself which looks like her own clone !

Seeing all these videos made me realize I feel very passionate about baking! Just randomly stumbled upon you in my recommended and I found a new hobby haha, i'm just very nervous about trying out new things. I hope i'll get the courage to start one day :)
The 4th cake looked the best out of all the cakes. But I was disappointed to find out that the only part of the cake that was edible was the base of the cake. I would not pay that much for a half of a cake that was square. The 3rd cake was the best design in my opinion because it was all cake, and the cake was delicious. However, if you could take the face from the 4th cake and put it on the 3rd cake then you have a winner. The whole video was really fun to watch.
Minute of silence for the way that third cake was brutally destroyed... I hope the baker who spent ages making it doesn't see this 👀

I've heard a lot of bakers actually get really happy when people eat their creations :) even if it was as detailed as the third one.
I mean the whole thing was cake, and sounds like a really delicious recipe as well! it was made to be enjoyed and I think the baker should take that as a compliment!

15:00 when she pulled “her hair” away from her head I could not help from laughing. That was unexpected and absolutely hilarious. I honestly though that was either going to be cake, or icing. I also thought that “her head” would have gone with it too. The fact that just “her hair” came away from the sculpture, was satisfying yet hilarious and kind of creepy if you think hard about it.

You would be surprised how much wedding cake is. Those cake prices are pretty on the nose for how many people now a days. But I am with ya, $30 usually.

The last cake was amazing! Until you revealed STYROFOAM! What? For that price, they should have used something edible.

I was disappointed too... bakers need to know if they are going to use styrofoam don't charge tons of money for it. I would pay the $700-$800 IF it was molding chocolate or rice crispies, but not for styrofoam. I would be calling and complain to the bakery for the cost. WELLKNOWN bakers would see this and be disappointed on the cost if they saw a cake like them and THIS was done. LOVED the last cake way better, but I wouldn't have paid $800 for it... maybe $500 - $600.

The first one actually did a really good and safe choice. While it's more common for people to have allergies from most things, a vanilla allergy is rather rare. So it was a safe and proper option if you didn't include a flavor request.

Maybe if it was going on a store shelf for just anyone to buy but it wasn't. Anyone with serious allergies would mention it because you NEVER know how the kitchen is set up and you should be taking those precautions due to cross contamination.

The 3rd cake was the most impressive imo. I mean for it to almost be all cake! That is amazing! I'm wondering if the 4th cake's bakery was using foam for your body so it would last longer during a party. I think it was kinda lazy but the hand painting makes up for it.
Need a collab of the last 2 bakers; real cake with some supports, but with the skilled painting (and color matching) of the last baker.
Cake three gave the most cake for the money so that’s my favorite. Although with cake four you might be able to save the structural piece for a long time and it looked the best, but still number 3 for me.

I was so disappointed that the last cake wasn't entirely edible. I mean for nearly $800 you're paying for FOOD. Maybe you should have specified 90% edible ingredients and only the necessary support system to keep it intact. I feel rice crispies or modeling chocolate would have worked out just as fine, and maybe even less work, than carving hard Styrofoam.
I’ve been watching cake videos my whole life, and I have NEVER seen anything inedible (besides straws, pipes, and dowels) used for structure in a cake. Truly shocking

The photo they gave the bakeries looks pretty blonde with dark roots so I’m not surprised on the hair colour of the first cakes. But the amount of skill and effort still varied greatly between each cake! I really want to eat a slice of that last one with the strawberries 😍
And the styrofoam will taste delicious with it too!

Ok so the last one looked exactly like you, and was pretty great, but for the price, I would want the entire thing to be made out of cake (or rice krispies at least), not styrofoam covered in fondant and buttercream. Weirdly, I think the more expensive the cakes went, the less impressive they were.

I’m sorry but the first cake is done so badly. You can tell they didn’t put much effort into it. That was an easy $175 for them, that’s sad. Even the cakes and icings..
Edit: same with the second cake, it was kinda falling apart, and that was $500. Yikes! I wouldn’t pay $20 for either..
