Your dad has the same illness I have had my entire life. Overthinking, overplanning, and overbuilding. It is both a blessing and a curse.
after watching for less than 5 minutes I can say your father does not think like an average human he is an incredible thinker and hyper logical its good to see someone who actually understands that over building/over doing things when it comes to safety isn't foolishness its logical the man is a genius in his own right in my opinion
additionally, he has the very rare ability to teach. lots of people have knowledge. some have wisdom. rarely do you find someone with both and the ability to explain so that the person he is speaking with has understanding. very few people can teach. i learned a lot. your dad is an absolute treasure. ty so much for this video stocky baldman.
Thank you
@@StockyBaldman Is he going to start his own channel?
Every now and then you witness something that raises you’re awareness of what standards can and should be. This is that. Amazing shop sir, something more solid and well thought out I have never seen.
Truer words have never been spoken. 👍👍👍
At some point, the work spent being 'organized' and 'safe' becomes more work than the work. This shop seems more like a tool display museum than a place where work could actually happen. I would love to interview his helper/assistant/partner in a job or project, it must have been painful beyond words. When the guy you are going to work with for the day 'covers' his anvil with plastic, you know you will be in for a long day.
Well put
This is a craftsman who has walked the walked and knows the value of quality. I'm tired of the 25-35 year olds making tool box tour videos of every harbor freight tool know and none of them have any use on them. I would be honored to work with this professional and would have learned more in a day from him than years of watching you-tubers
It's called pride. You should give it a try sometime.
@@therealmillerman No thanks, that kind of 'pride' clashes with production and reasonability. But I suppose if you have nothing to do and all day to do it's OK. As for me, I put the pride ,quality and effort into the job , my anvil that I beat on with a hammer is OK and I can cope with it without a plastic cover and a wax job (good grief and holy shit).
The assistant almost always works harder then the other. In my family we've known this for years. I come from a family of carpenters/contractors so I know about all the running back and forth, get me this and that then putting everything away and cleaning everything. Wrapping the cords "correctly ". Hold this hold that. Up and down the ladder. I know one gets paid for their knowledge and experience but yeah the assistant pays his dues and is usually underpaid.
I come back to this video often. I always learn a new way to make my little single Bay shop more efficient each time. Thanks to your dad and his attention to detail.
We both really appreciate the comment!
Very well organized. Only thing I see missing is space to work.
What a shop. Whatever money earned in a lifetime would go on buying all that equipment.
Guy has 200 ft of bench space all covered in tools and no place to actually work.
@@derickburgad6996 As impressive as it is, it's more of a tool box than it is a shop. If you're thinking about working on something, take it outside. The shop itself, has not been built yet.
@@derickburgad6996 Sadly, many dozens of people like you don't remember the beginning of the video where it is stated that I just unloaded a service truck and am laying everything out for inventory.
@@derickburgad6996 The hobby is building the perfect shop and collecting tools and equipment, not working in the shop. Seen it many times.
I’d love to see a follow up when he gets all his tools stored away (tool chests, cabinets or whatever he uses) and see the shop in a general use state rather than your mode.
Great tour, your dads a character for sure 👍🏻
Awesome thanks
The death metal got me. Beautiful shop and respect for you and your equipment. A life of hard work has earned you a joyful retirement. Good on you sir
This is what I’ve been waiting for a long time for. An old timers tool shop tour, these are the best kinds. Thanks to both of you so much for this, you’re dad did a great job on this shop, very detailed
Glad you enjoyed it!
I’m building a homestead from scratch. Got all sorts of ideas from your dad. Thanks for the showcase
Hi Ben! Just talked to Art for the first time in 30 years. I had the great pleasure of working with him as an apprentice HD mechanic 40 plus years ago, back in the Grand Forks days. Art's skills where the "Gold Standard" even back then. I knew you as a new born. Thanks for sharing this video.
Oh wow, thanks for reaching out! I’ve definitely heard your name many times over the years. My dad has a lot of respect for you. Thanks for watching!
I love watching shop tours of people that have seemingly thought of everything that you need and can explain exactly how they did it in such detail. Very much appreciated sir.
Yeah he went the whole nine yards
as someone who’s just starting out in heavy duty mechanics, this is super cool! i love how meticulous your dad is about every little detail
This is how I operate. Everything clean and in its place and well-maintained. Your father is amazing!
👍👍👍
This is pure brilliance. Your father is amazingly logical. I greatly appreciate his pursuit of exceeding all expectations. Bravo🤙🏻
I hope to one day be like your dad I have been buying tools now for 3 years I’m 24 and it’s my dream to be in his shoes he seems like a great man and deserves everything he has hard work pays off loved the video! Love from New Mexico
I appreciate the kind words. Yes, he definitely did work for it. I’ve been to New Mexico a few times, lovely place.
Your mom is an angel for letting him build that shop and all the tools my god it is impressive to say the least, and then to know how to use them wow.
Yep, true
Truly the shop I wish I had. Fantastic thought went into over designing this place. I think the part I admire the most was the cabinet that unfolds into what seems to be an unlimited source of storage.
Yes that has always been one of my favourites as well. A lot of time went into that cabinet
Thanks alot for taking your time to share this with us. One of my dreams is to have my own workshop that is so well organised and equiped. I respect the old man and I hope he can do more videos to teach us "HOW TO".
Been driving by that shop for the last few years, thinking it was a pretty skookum building. Now I see I was right. Nice job Art 👍🏻
I am in awe of how your dad planned all this. As an engineer, I am often accused of overdoing things-your dad is the standard bearer in this regard!
Yes he is! His usual phase over the years was something along the lines of it being built properly if it can hold up a bulldozer. He doesn’t horse around
A big thank you to your dad. Definitely the type a man needed these days to share the wealth of knowledge and appreciation of building, wrenching and fabricating. Awesome shop and collection of quality tools! 👌
Thank you!
Dude. Your dad built a pro grade building an the shop is organized, loaded & spectacular . Showing some support, everyone hit like 👍
Thank you!!!
My english is not enough to say what I think about your father and his shop. You are a lucky man.
I appreciate it
Outstanding! I hope you’ve taken full advantage of the opportunity to learn from such a knowledge father. Cheers to you dad! 🍻
I do believe in a organized but yet functional shop to work on things. This shop has become the project and not just a work place. OCD is tough to control. Way over kill. Lol.
That chevy truck is unreal!!
Ya it is!
@@StockyBaldman would love a video of the details on that thing!
this is incredible. your Dad is someone who absolutely refuses to be unprepared, and I love it.
and as someone else who refuses to be apologetic about all the ridiculous Metal I listen to: hell yea.
💪💪💪
Inappropriately loud death metal! Rock on, brother!
👍👍👍
As a father, dad, and a grandfather, your pop is living the dream and is happy, you can hear the "PROUD" I. His voice, just a Beautiful and well thought out shop
GOD BLESS
Yep, so true
This is a beautiful and well organized shop. Well done
U can tell the amount of thought and care that went into every little corner of this store this is amazing
I built what I thought was my dream garage until I watched this video. Your dad's shop is now my new dream garage. I love tools!
Beyond what most of us can imagine perfection thank you.
Nice tool cage! Now he needs a shop with space to work on stuff, maybe some machine tools, a couple of lifts, etc...lol
Organized clutter that’s all stacked on top of each other. Most that never, rarely gets touched. Impressive Tool museum
@Hello How are you doing dear
Literally explains in the video that everything is out for inventory.
Hats off to your Dad, he really did it right. Amazing building and just quality craftsmanship and very safe which is important.
Yep, he sure did!
Thank you for the video! I would first like to say my absolute favorite part of the video was the moose drawing made for Grampa! A very close second favorite was listening to the pride in your Father's voice talking about his shop, not to mention his great sense of humor. I really liked the labeling of the circuits to which breaker supplied the juice. The cabinet with the tri-fold doors was great, I really liked that it was lighted. In the Navy we call that Battleship Gray color "Haze Gray". I can't say I would organize my hand tools the same way, but hey it's not my shop! I'm glad the organization works for you guys. Would be an honor to borrow any tool and of course the hammer and pry bar too.
Thanks for watching!
I love your dad. Good honest man with the whole world in his backyard.
Yep, you know it
Your Blessed to have a dad like you do i know i had one he passed away years ago enjoy the time you guys have together God bless Matt ky
Agreed
Just wow! I enjoyed every minute of this video and I wanted to say thank you to your Dad for the tour of his workshop and for sharing his time. Thanks to you for filming & posting it! Much respect to your Dad for his love & knowledge of quality tools, but more importantly his ability to properly use and care for them. I would love to see more content and I'll be subscribing to your channel now.
Thank you!
@Hello Eric how are you doing
Amazingly organized and detailed shop!! As a lifelong mechanic and general jack of all trades I have a big collection of tools and equipment but your Dad's origination of his collection is inspirational. Maybe one day I'll have the time to get my stuff in order.
It has definitely been a labour of love
Dad is spot-on about LEDs, they destroy our color acuity and cause other health, and vision issues. Color corrected fluorescents, as used in critical color environments, are expensive, but vastly superior. Good job on the video, I'd like to have a beer with Dad someday!
Not true.
@@ShainAndrews True if you read the American Medical Association's report about it, but then again, they also say boys can get pregnant ...
Excellent video - your dad is amazing
Ooh man I love the beginning of this video your pops is awesome my humble little shop 😎 awesomeness Man just awesome and smart reinforcement shop holy hell I'm borrowing his idea 💡 thank you
As a guy that can barely fix breakfast, your Father's shop is beyond mind-blowing. For fun, I would like to see a tour of your Mom's garden, I bet it is as amazing as his shop!! Thank You.
It actually is! Thanks for watching
This is not a shop, this is a tool storage room
yeah, all the work surfaces are covered in tools. He really needs a roller tool cabinet or 2 - a lot of that stuff would fit in a bunch of drawers and clear up a lot of work surface!
@@gorak9000 I think he put everything out for the video. The tools get stored elsewhere in the Shop.
He just retired from working on a service truck for a few decades. He happen to have them laid out when I was in town. Normally the benches are clear
He just retired from working on a service truck for the last 32 years so everything was on racks and magnets. I happen to be in town visiting while he was going through and organizing everything
@@StockyBaldman Well done and total respect for your Dad. A true craftsman and tradesman. Thanks for giving us a look at the home of an exceptional person. 👏👍🙏
I love the use of the sign post material for table and bench legs. Awesome idea!
Ya it works great
Dude, your pops is LIGIT!!! OCD and Spectrum Disorder is a good thing, when it’s funneled into building a home shop!
Just a wonderful video, thanks guys!
Thanks for watching!
I definitely learned a lot. He does a great job keeping his tools clean, organized, and in good repair.
Yes he takes that very seriously. Thanks for watching
Absolutely fantastic video. I would love to see what goes on in this shop.
Wish I had the time to keep my shop that nice!!! looks very nice and organize Geines I have a lot of Malaukee and Snap-On Tools my tool of choice!! Well done and put together!!
Thanks for watching! Yeah, keeping this place and the tools clean is a major passion of his
the clarity with which he speaks just has me mesmerised, i cannot look away.
Yes absolutely true
Loved every bit of this video
Stunning. What a treasure of knowledge your father. Oh yeah the shop and tools are incredible too! This is the kind of thing that built our civilization and that we should be promoting in our culture. To your father my hat is off to you sir and to you thank you for showing this. I am going to re watch it with my adult sons in the future.
👍👍👍
Your dad is the coolest of the cool! 😎
AWESOME collection of one of a kind, conventional and specialty tools! I really liked the custom anvil, the custom pipe rack, the custom music system and the Shop Tool Rules ("This is not a pry bar or a hammer!"). Thanks for sharing!
👍 Glad you like it!
What a legend your dad is!! He’s is one very intelligent man. Lovely well thought out workshop. I could definitely enjoy and a chat in there
👍👍👍 Yep, he’s a beauty!
Looks like top notch hardware store, absolutely wonderful.
What a blessing to have a Dad like yours. 👍👍
Yes sir!
Awesome 👍🏻👍🏻 thank you to both of you for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
Sweet layout, love the tours of the shops, good for ideas and see how people do it over the years
Glad you enjoyed it
My dad used to say you need the right tool to do the job right. Your dad said he used many of the tools only once or twice. At a certain point, enough is enough. He must have $300,000 worth of Canadian dollars invested.
Nice use of the holes in tube extrusion for tool organization, and drilling them out larger to accept rods for table extenders
Wow omg your dad is a true legend 🙌
Wow, amazing man.
I love your Dad, and I love his shop! What a great dream to live, eh?! Great Job!!!
👍👍👍
What a guy! And what a shop! I love the level of organization and just pure order! And the speakers blasting metal is just perfect!
I'm an all-round maker, doing traditional hand tool woodworking, electronics, leather work, sewing, whatever I fancy, so a great shop like that is just awesome, although I don't really use that many machines. But I can always appreciate the love and care-and enthusiasm-going into a shop like that.
Thanks for watching!
Your dad is the kind of person you dream about buying equipment from. No doubt this man takes well care of everything he owns.
Yes he is the ideal person to buy something from
Alot of nice never been used before tools! Atleast u are gonna inherent some nice new dated stuff 🤷♂️ Need some tool storage now to get back your benchs 👍👌
Amazing video hats off to you and your father I can only dream of a shop like his thank you
Thanks!
Anyone else besides me waiting on him to explain a the mechanics of a “Turbo Encabulator”🤣awesome video.
He probably could!
Impressive collection of tools, he had my interest when I seen all the mechanic hand tools wow. Certainly a man of knowledge and experience, all you need now is a nice toolbox to store them in. Hopefully we see some more content soon
👍👍👍
I feel like your dad is our dad now, he gave an amazing tour and so much good advice
👍👍👍
My Dad was much like yours. Dad was a MASTER MECHANIC and worked a his trade 65 years.
Yep I have some of his tools and my brotther has some also.
Sounds like another member of a rare breed
Hes the guy you would love to see pull up when your equipment is down. It's asham these guys are retiring because you will never replace him.
What a shop! Epic thanks for showing
Thanks for watching!
I've only ever seen that brand router table once.
Me I bought a Jessem lift and built my own table out of a fish tank stand someone put in the trash. And some comercial type display shilfs that are multiple layers plywood and pressed wood. 1.5" thick .
This is what I hope to be like in 30 years. He's thought long and hard about all of this. Everything is planned and has a purpose. It's beautiful.
Yep, it was a labour of love
Very nice.
Kinda feel let down though. He doesn't have a Sky Hook.
🤣😅🤣
@Hello Phil how are you doing

I love this Father - Son presentation.
Incredible shop and tool collection. He definitely subscribed to the buy once, cry once theory as evidenced by the quality of his tools.
What a awesome shop I'm in the process of building mine and I might steal some his ideas lol. Great video 👍
Thanks for watching!
Cant stop looking at that tool collection pleas can you make another Video about the heavy equipment repair tools your dad has such a beautifull tool collection
This looks like a life time worth of stuff, something to be proud of. Great video!

My best wishes for your shop, just think of the things you need nearby and the cords and hoses you don't wanna trip over, and it will all come to you.
Nice shop 👌 mate. I would love to hammer out a few project in this shop listening to a little Black Sabbath or Judas Priest. 🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟
😎😎😎
I am so amazed by this man's knowledge what he has and the tools and his able to use everything he knows what the weight is what the price is what where exactly everything is and what the tolerances are he is a walking machine unbelievable unbelievable thanks for doing this .I was so a enamored , At what I just watched amazing.

I think your dad would be a wonderful teacher and an asset to the CZcams community!
Yes I agree!
Absolutely love the setup. You’re dad became one of my hero’s as soon as he mentioned what he listen to on the stereo!
Awesome, thanks for watching!
Never thought about adding grab handles to my shelving. Genius! Thanks for the shop tour 👍

Your Dad should teach the grandchildren about his collection and how the tools are used. His generation carry so much knowledge. I wish him a long and happy retirement. Thank him for the tour- fascinating 🇬🇧👍👍
Yep, very true, thanks for watching!
Man your dad has an amazing collection, I would love to have. Such a joy to see his pride and contentment. I would enjoy future postings on him .😎🇳🇿
