Its a little sad to see DKWill lose the matchup to Chunky and Nairo being an established solo DK veteran, but it almost feels like a ceremonial "passing of the torch" in some kind of way. He did his part in the DK meta and will forever be a hall of famer for ultimate/smash4, but players like Chunky and Hikaru are simply taking the character to new heights. It was so entertaining to see the footstool combos Chunky has been labbing get put into practice. Send me your friend code if you're ever looking for a DK punching bag to practice on. I'm a solo main in elite smash but definitely nowhere close to your level of gameplay!
I know that Will’s fine playing the long game, and trying to unlock the full potential of the character in each matchup before really playing to take sets. He goes for more confirms and style kills instead of forcing and maintaining advantage the way most people play. It makes him less threatening rn but if you add it in later then you have all the muscle memory to get crazy reversals and free stocks from matchup knowledge. Good observation.
Chunky Kong is the undisputed DK in the meta now. He makes being competitively viable in the US with DK look plausible and I'm here for it
