Still punching, kicking and busting contenders in 2021. What a legend!
Only in his early 30âs đ„”
@@shanesmokes6447 he is on mid 30s and he has a really big mileage, he lost to Connor in 2015 that's so much time in fighting and before that he had 8 to 10 tittle bouts probably, he is doing high level for over 10 years by now... That's impressive

Jose Aldo was su fun to watch , he is one of the main fighters to got me into watching mma when I was growing up .
and now he retired
Legendary run. Those WEC boys were no joke. Henderson, Pettis,Swanson, Wineland,Faber,Cruz. Meen I could go on. They produced a lot of great fights over there. I felt sorry for Cub he never got a chance to fight. I feel sorry for you if you didn't get to see WEC's run.

Young Aldo was a monster 15 years later he's still a monster.
Real deal!!đŁđŻđŻđȘ
Heâs been fighting top contenders his entire career, and is still to this day..Not a padded record like some fighters..
Cough cough Fedor cough cough
Khabib
@@christophervalverde3096 Fedor has defeated more UFC heavyweight champions than any other heavyweight in MMA history. Do research.
to this day!!!!
@StraightFactsYo He beat Big Nog twice and prime cro cop. Pride had thebetter fighters back then. The heavyweight champs in the ufc at the time were arlovski and sylvia whom Fedor destroyed anyways.
Like I said, hate all you want. You Zuffa zombies don't realize that he's beaten more ufc champions than anyone else and went undefeated for a decade as an undersized heavyweight.
Aldo's WEC run and UFC reign is the reason why he is the featherweight goat.
I know this is mostly underrated, but this video also reminded me how great of a commentator Frank Mir is. Wish he continued that instead of fighting.
Volk gonna take the throne of featherweight GOAT soon
@@mikehunt7586 this era Defo has the best roster of talents. So he won't need to defend it as much to become goat
@@mikehunt7586 Losing to max didn't really help his case tbh...
@@TheRugFace Thatâs funny because Volk is 2-0 against Max
@@mikehunt7586 not sure what you mean by soon.... Volk and Max got 2 title defence, Aldo has 9 defence and 2 reigns
I see his WEC fights and think "wow, he's really slowed down compared to then", and then I remember he's still very fast at 35. Sign of a GOAT contender is how he's made technical improvements to cover for his age and declining physical prime, agaisnt increasingly better competition, while also remaining on top.
Looks just as fast to me. Just the competition is better than ever and makes him not look superhuman
@@dylanredinger1766 Yes. And He is way more tecnical now too
Definitely got a bit of that old man energy tho
@@xydex99 heâs only 34 lol not that old heâs the same age as Jon Jones and heâs younger than guys like tony and cowboy and Usman
If there one fighter in mma that deserved an emmediate rematch after losing a fight it Aldo after the Mcgregor fight to show that the one punch landed was a fluke and would likely not happen again!
0:37 "steve mazagatti is gonna step in here"
Steve Mazagatti: "no i'm not"
Makes me miss old school WEC. Watching Aldo, Cruz, Faber, etc.
Man Aldo was an absolute assassin back then, he's slowed down now and pick more of his exchanges wisely but damn, he was knocking out dudes left and right
Aldo is a living legend!
Aldo built that division! Much respect, what a legend!
One fight (Mcgregor) does not define your whole career. To me heâs the GOAT featherweight
Wow, I was really impressed by how good WEC commentary was. It was way better than early UFC commentary with Rogan and Goldberg
GOAT and he is still killing the game
I mean honestly this guy was in another level. Forget about Connor, Holloway, Khabib. This guys was the real deal. A beast.
"Forget Connor holloway khabib...." Just delete a history of champs for one idiot.
Holy shit his WEC run was pure violence
The real goat..he fought high caliber fighters in their prime and defended the belt multiple times..a true champion defends the belt not just win it..
Aldo the featherweight goat!
You just don't get any better than prime WEC Jose Aldo. Dude is a legend and still smashing fools in the Bantamweight division while probably being the best featherweight ever to set foot in an octagon.
Jose Aldo Anderson Silva Demetrious Johnson : Pure Legends / MMA Pioneers
Aldo's my boy. Always loved watching him do work.
His run was legitimately the same as Khabibs was. If Aldo retired after fighting Mark Hominik (three title defenses)then he would have been just as dominant as Khabib had been. (Jose aldo would have been 19-1 but even then half of Khabibs wins are cans so there's that) Also if you don't count WEC then after his win over Chad Mendes the first time (Three ufc Title defenses) he would be 21-1 and still just as dominant as Khabib.
This isn't even counting after three title defenses if he retired after his seventh UFC Title defense Chad Mendes 2 then he would have been 25-1. Granted people would have said he ducked mcgregor but that's what people are saying about how Khabib ducked Charles Olivera.
The problem is you said "just as dominant" Like, literally Khabib never lost a round, or bled.... No PEDs, eye pokes, like Jones the POS. Let's be honest. Khabibs the best ever.
@@holeindanssock156 no
@@holeindanssock156 But by his third defense he was just as dominant. He was koing and beating every contender they threw at him and made it look easy.
@@holeindanssock156 yes fighting 5 of the top 10 lightweights and losing a round against mcgregor makes you the best ever
He must have broken a bones in Cubâs face because I donât think Iâve seen that from a fighter before. That was incredible to see.
Jose has fought nothing but killers idk how ppl still dont respect him hes easily the FW đ

Let just talk about how great Frank Mir is on commentary! He was great on the Mic for the WEC back then!!!!
Still the best leg kick P4P. Nobody in any division ever has been so consistent in sending fighters flying with a leg kick.
Man...seeing 2009...then seeing what he did a couple weeks ago. GOAT status is secured. the cherry on top would getting the strap. but it's not even necessary at this point. his legacy is cemented
I absolutely love Jose Aldo. Heâs my favorite fighter of all.
WEC was awesome growing up. So many wars. So many upsets. So many talented fighters that ended up having long successful careers.
I remember being 11 years old and always watching it when it was on. One of the craziest moments I saw was The first fight Mike brown had with urijah faber. it was such a huge deal at the time.
Brown came in and upset Faber who was the face of the company. The golden boy of WEC. The California Kid.
On top of that it proved not just to be an upset when Mike Brown ended up beating faber twice.
after the second Win over Uriah and second title defense it had then landed him on a 10 fight win streak.
Strong powerful wrestler with a big right hand. I Didnât know who was gonna stop him.
He was just a solid tough fighter. Strong as an OX.
Then this Brazilian dude José Aldo came in like a tidal wave and practically jogged his way to a championship fight.
After destroying everyone in front of him Aldo then went in there and made easy work of Mike Brown as you can see.
Props to Mike for winning the belt and defending it twice. Guy for sure had an unbelievable run.
Itâs just that at a young age I realized there is different levels to MMA. Jose was just on another tier.
Mike Brown for sure made a statement though. WEC champ with 2 wins over Faber. Guy was a stud.
All in all thoughâŠJoseâs run through WEC of pure Dominance was one of my favorite moments growing up while first getting into MMA.
The guy just seemed to have the complete package. He could do it all. Killer instinct and everything.
Just a young hungry fighter who was on some assassin shit in the cage. I couldnât even believe what I was watching.
No wonder he is now a hall of famer. One of the best to ever do it. One of my favorite fighters ever.
He'll yeah man! We'll said. Aldo is my favorite all time.
He was my favorite fighter during these times. Miss these days
Legendary, and one of my favourites đđ„
Still going strong and is in the top 5 in a new and improved division. What a fantastic fighter đ.
Newer fans don't know how much of an absolute buzzsaw WEC and early UFC Aldo was. The fact he has been able to reinvent himself is something to behold.
The way Aldo is still looking sharp even at 10lbs lighter, a whole decade later, is incredible. Hes still coming up against top competitors and showing them the levels to MMA. He might not be the GOAT but if you're doing a Mount Rushmore of MMA he has to be up there IMO
Crazy he's one fight away from another title fight too especially if he beats tj
The greatest fighter of all time.
Iâm glad I got to watch the ufc grow. From the strike force fighters to the wec fighters. It was crazy
Insane growth. I remember these days like it was yesterday. Back when you could practically name the whole roster. Unbelievable on how big itâs become. Been fun watching this whole time though.
New heads that came in during Mcgregor era missed out lol shit was just different. Felt like you were growing with the sport as a fan. Awesome.
Why does everyone sleep on this legendary fighter and greatest featherweight of all time
01:42 proof Aldo played a lot of football (soccer if you're wrong) as a kid
Brookins fought so many legends like dang lol
You know itâs a good day when UFC posts videos about Jose Aldoâs amazing run.
I absolutely MISS THE WEC!!!
He's in my top 5 goat. With GSP jones dj silva. Fighting for nearly 2 decades n is still fighting top competition.
Dude is the flash of the UFC
