The longest tunnel u crossed was Tike tunnel (little over 4kms and second longest). Kharbude tunnel is on the other side of Ratnagiri (Longest tunnel in India till the Rohtang and Pirpanjal tunnels came up). The bridge u covered just before the tike tunnel is Panval Nadi viaduct (tallest bridge in India till the under construction chenab bridge came up).

Issue with travelator is the ramp length . With escalator ramp can b steeper. Travelator we need longer setup for same height. If we have the space , then fine else escalator only solution

And btw entire KR trains are slow during monsoon months (July 1 to oct 31) due to speed restrictions. Between Nov and June, even passenger trains are operated at higher speeds. This is possible because of uniform gradient for most part of the KR!! Try duronto or Rajdhani in non monsoon months. It is what fans call "ultimate verithanam".
The Monsoon Train Time starts from 1St of June to 31St of October but the stretch only between Mangalore to Mumbai because of very heavy rain and not applicable to Mangalore to Kerala region as the monsoon is not so prone in Kerala compare to Konkan region.....

it is only between Mangalore to Mumbai in non Monsoon time. Even Madgoan fast passanger covers 430 km from Mangalore to Verna in just 7hours..

I many times travelled in Matsyagantha express(very old train) starts from Mangalore Central upto Karwar and some times Madgoan (destination is Mumbai)...but what a speed can't imagine those times...only less than 6 hours I can reach Goa covering distance of 430 km. Timing (14.20 to 20.00) in non Monsoon time ....
the same train starts 12.30 from Mangalore in Monsoon time reach Goa 20.30 (8 hours)
As well others fast trains are Netravathi express goes to Mumbai, Mangala express goes to New Delhi ...and many more Kerala bound trains to northern India...only Mangalore junction has more slaging time for all trains minimum 10 minutes halts are there in Mangalore junction

No, in this region train fare is cheap ....at the initial start up of Konkan railway I paid only 55 rupees from Mangalore to Madgoan covering 430km in just 7 hours stoped at all stations as it is fast passanger
Now it is 110 rupees after 23 years in the same train....if you want reservation seat in the same fast passanger train the fare is 180 rupees from Mangalore to Verna (Goa)
Konkan railway is not private body ...it is separate railway section but comes under central government.... having good infrastructure of railway station, staffs and the people using this railway line are really wonderful

@transitbites A Study was carried out 5 years ago, saying if a section is not 100% electrified, then if the total distance to destination is close to 400 to 500 kms, then only Diesel locos shall be used. If the section is 100% electrified, then use Electric Locos, WAP 4 or WAP7 throughout the entire section..
IR thinks, to stop a train for extended period for a loco change except in case of loco reversal, its not worth using Electric loco only if its used for a short duration.
