    Welcome to another mod video! Here you will see my step by step process of how to create an entirely different looking watch by using a good value Chinese homage watch from Pagani Design as a base to work from. The Pagani Design PD-1651 is a good watch, especially as you can get them for less than £60 sometimes! A Seiko NH35, sapphire crystal, 100m water resist and decent fit and finish. It does have a few flaws though, and that’s why modding is so rewarding. By changing a few items that one might feel are lacking slightly, it can be taken to the next level.
    The dial and hands were from Namoki:
    www.namokimods...
    The bezel insert is from DLW mods:
    www.dlwwatches...
    If you like the strap I have used, it’s a special vulcanised rubber that fits this case shape perfectly. If you are interested in buying one, get in touch so I can see if demand dictates a bigger order from my supplier. These straps are meant for a premium Swiss watch! I would charge £29.99 for the strap.
    I buy most of by tools from Amazon, tools used:
    Case back removal tool, small plastic bag, Bergeon Rodico, pin board pin, air puffer, small screwdrivers, Bergeon carbon tweezers, movement holder cushion/pad, jet lighter, isopropyl alcohol (or nail varnish remover), cotton buds (q-tips), spring bar removal tool (I sell these), craft mat, finger cots, hypo cement (if bezel has no supplied 3M ring), hand presser, dial protector.
    If you love the look of this watch in standard form, I have an affiliate link below. If you buy this watch using that link it costs you no more, but I get a small commission. Also, If you don’t quite have the money yet and want to save it for when you do, pop it in your basket and my cookies (link tracking) attached to your watch still remain active for 30 days!

    Making your own watch is hugely satisfying. Anything with a Seiko NH35 movement is easy to work on and you have an enormous array of potential parts to swap in. Excellent job Dan!
    Edit: Brake CLeaner is also an excellent way to dissolve glue. Lidl have it in occasionally at about 2.50 for a 500ml spray. Finest glue remover I've ever used.

    Nice job Dan, it looks great. I’m glad that the dial at least has the “N” under the 12:00 triangle as I think a sterile dial makes it look like it was a cheap £5.00 Sunday market watch.

    I just tightened my sloppy 1651 bezel! How to: look at 14:37 remove the insert and you can see the bezel retainer between the crystal and bezel, this can be poked out and the bezel will just pop off. Be careful not to lose the click-pin-mechanism which is located 5'oclock on the case!! Now bend the retainer slighty at the angles and re-assemble, happy clicky-rotation! :)

    Now that's a complete transformation. I like the grey explorer style dial, it has fresh look to it. Only the bezel insert, I would have chosen something else with some kind of markings on it. It looks a little odd to my eye with just the lume pip.

      Hi Alexander, I was thinking maybe a brushed stainless steel 12hr bezel and it would've been perfection. But that said it's definitely a great looking piece. The man's got talent. 🤔👍

  • @3rdstone1
    @3rdstone1 Před 3 lety +1

    Great job, final product looks excellent. I already liked the first bezel, and thought just changing the hands would've made the watch looking different and cool with the blue sunburst dial.
    This however gave it that kinda explorer look you mentioned, and looks great with stealth bezel and kinda light grey dial. I watch as many modding vids as I can, before I dare to do my own SKX modding project I've had lying for a while. I'm getting part by part first, and I need a few more tools.
    It will also have a somewhat explorer look with a polished non-movable "slanted" bezel and big 3-6-9 numeral pattern. Anyways, keep up the good work, looking forward to more modding videos!

  • @watchreviews4k
    @watchreviews4k Před 3 lety +1

    @watch me with watches, have you ever tried removing the bezel spring wire and tightening the angles to improve the bezel action, or reduce the back play? Pagani Design seem to have gradually improved the bezel action on their PD-1661; but some still have back play. Apparently this can be reduced by tightening the spring wires angles. The bezel uses a pin under it, rather than a ball bearing to make the clicks. The tension of wire holds the bezel on to the case, and also provides friction when turning it. It's a shame Pagani Design don't just make the spring wire angles tighter in the factory for tighter bezel action with less back play. Regards.

  • @hollywoodheiner6028
    @hollywoodheiner6028 Před 2 lety

    Just a warning for you guys: I bought the exact same watch for a mod project and thought it is a good idea to remove the whole bezel to improve the bezel action. Mine was kind of wobbly so I thought: What can go wrong... Guess what, now I'm not able to get it back on the watch. There is a spring which holds the bezel in place. A cheap very thin metal spring which I tried to bend just a tiny bit to get more pressure and better bezel action. But there is no way to get the spring back in place like it was before, although I therefore even removed the bezel inlay. The spring is just too thin and cheap that it moves out of place after some spins with the bezel, so I can say: I just messed it up. So my advice for you guys: If you buy a Pagani and you´re not satisfied with the bezel action, just send it back and hope for a better one next time. But don`t ever try to remove it...

    Wow you almost made that look easy Dan! Couple of questions if you don't mind. How long can you leave a wound movement hacked for? How do you remove a crown/stem from a monocoque case? Looks a whole lot better after your upgrade, effectively a "one off" will we see your designs sold at Off The Cuff?

    • @watchmewithwatches
      @watchmewithwatches  Před 2 lety

      Hey there! Good questions, I think you have me stumped, I don't know how long is a good idea to leave a watch in the "hacked" position. Part of me thinks it's not a good idea, as the main spring never gets chance to "relax". Removing the crown from a monocoque is also a tricky one as I have never done one! I am trying to visualize how the crow cold be released when its usually released from the underside of the movement. I will need to do some research!

    Great donor case.... Great high-lume hands Great dial from those geniuses at Nomaki...... but the Bezel should have been matt in texture. The bezel's high reflective properties pushes it into the viewer's face. It takes far too much attention away from the excellent and deserving dial and the terrific hands. My philosophy has always been this: the DIAL is the main show and everything else is in support of the Dial.
    Oh well. Great effort. Thanks.

      It will fit. Need the sloped bezel insert to work right. Which one are you looking to get?

      I did some digging around and found an identical one on a site called strapcodedotcom with a reference of FKM rubber strap. It would look good on my basic PAGANI DESIGN PD-1651,too.
