It is much easier to understand the different between CAN and CAN'T in British English than in American English.

about CAN and CAN'T. In the last word the T sound is very slight but it is still available to hear even between next D in the word DO. So I mean we still can hear the hissing ending of the T sound. Probably some students need practice to hear this difference until they learn it automatically recognise. But the second tip about the A vowel sound in these two variations is much useful because of the exaggerated difference.
Words WALK and WORK are especially be able to confuse in British English and less in American English. And I always give the examples WALK WORK WORK for my students as most confusing words in British English because they often pronounce them almost the same.
