Being that this is the version you heard first, I would guess that the original would seem rather quiet and passive to you now. But hearing the original gives you that much more appreciation for the power and emotion that David Draiman expresses in this version. TL;DR if you have to choose one, this is definitely the one to choose, but you should listen to the original if you have the opportunity

I still think that this is the most incredible version of this song. I remember the first time I heard it during lock down. Some of the videos were so compelling that it was scary. It still sounds that good today, I think it will live on as long as the world keeps on its current path into darkness

I love his powerful voice. When he starts hitting those deep metal-like notes, I think on my dad who passed away (he was a huge fan of Disturbed and this cover of the song), and it even makes me tear up.

This song has been my favorite since the original came out in 1964....(yes I'm old...lol) but THIS...THIS is how I always envisioned the lyrics SHOULD be sung and the music played. I don't want to take away from Simon & Garfunkel in any way...but the lyrics just evoke the sadness and reverence that Disturbed has honored it with....THIS IS A MASTERPIECE. Thank you, Disturbed. OMG I love DISTURBEDS version of the Sounds of Silence. I was only in primary school when this first came out. Since hearing this version, it's so powerful it brings me to tears each time. Really listening to the lyrics makes you stop and think about what is becoming of us when we aren't communicating with each other. I have this on my play list. So, yeah, a moderately old duck like me is listening to this in 2024, and beyond.
