That's not a good look when trying to attract talent in the future. Players talk similar to us. If your friend warned you not to work somewhere cause management is bad and/or the pay is low, you may consider not working there.
Wrong. He is in the last year of his rookie contract plus Purdy’s contract is coming up for renewal next year and the Niners will most certainly use the tag on Purdy next year. How do they still have control over Aiyuk for 2 years?

@@MrMoore88 yeah he can be tagged but remember they can only Tag one player per season. Problem is that Purdy is coming up for a Contract Renewal next season which means they will not be able to tag both Aiyuk and Purdy at the same time, plus they still have Bosa’s upcoming contract to worry about. If the Niners do not lock up Aiyuk this season, they will have a huge decision to make at the end of this season between franchise tagging either Purdy or Aiyuk because you only get one franchise tag and which will give definitely Aiyuk the leverage after this season. If Niners are not careful, they can lose Aiyuk next season for either mere peanuts or for nothing at all just like the Trent Williams situation with Washington a few years back.

Also, 49ers have at least addressed life without Aiyuk by drafting WRs this off-season.
Aiyuk is vetting caught up in the off-season "WR Contracts" headlines and feels like he needs to get his TODAY no matter what organization.

Non guaranteed contracts get cut all the time. Especially big contracts with non guaranteed contracts; that's usually why you see players take paycuts to atay.
