My new single “Automaton” is about trying to reclaim one’s humanity and identity in a world that often demands they be sacrificed. A cold and mechanical mid tempo club track that evolves into an explosion of guitars and energetic screams, “Automaton” is a celebration of the human condition. Once again, guitars have been provided by Swedish virtuoso Sebastian Svalland (PAIN, Letters from the Colony, LINDEMANN) which breathe soul into an otherwise lifeless machine. Produced and mixed by none other than Rhys Fulber (Frontline Assembly, Delerium, Conjure One, Fear Factory).

FIrst listen: It feels like this could have come off either Close To Human or A Violent Emotion. It's definitely got that early era feel to it. Awesome that you recaptured that. That bassline is awesome, it thumps and it drives plus that guitar solo was sick.

I love how you implement guitars more and more in your newer songs! Especially because you do it very nuanced, never too much but with the right dose and at the right time, when it adds something
I was very hesitant about including guitars in my music because so many electronic bands don't do it with the kind of style and finesse that is required. So many of them just throw some chugga chugga riffs over a finished track and expect it to work. Guitars are very nuanced instruments and take a lot of space in a mix. You need the right player and the right production to pull it off. So far, I feel lucky to have been able to do it! But I've had a lot of help from people way more talented than I am! Rhys, Jinxx, Sebastian etc...

This is such an underrated song! When my hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome or dysautonomia try to make my life miserable, I blast this to help keep my mind focused on what is going right. If I’m feeling like my chronic illness is winning, Automaton reminds me that I can slide into a different perspective. Sometimes just sliding is all I need to power through the pain or the fainting spell. 💜🤘🏻🖤

Of all things, when this was first announced, my mind instinctivly went to this being a cover of the song from the last KMFDM album. With the sound of this, I was apparently only 90% wrong.
