Trains: 6 trains with 5 cars per train. Riders are arranged 2 across in 2 rows for a total of 20 riders per train.
Facts: The trains on the Top Thrill Dragster changed a few times during the first season. Presumably to create a lighter train, the Top Thrill Dragster had four car trains when it opened. By mid season, the fifth cars were put into service making the trains five cars long as planned.
Originally the dragster theme included an engine, tires and a fin occupying the last row of each car. These were removed and seats were installed in their place.
The front car has always only seated two riders due to the nose shape, so there are 18 riders per train, not 20 as listed above.
It's the tallest and fastest roller coaster I've been on and Cedar Point's tallest, fastest, and insane ride! I say it's better than Kingda Ka because of its elements and its signature voiceover at the beginning of the ride:
"Keep arms down, heads back, and hold on!"

“Because if it’s elements” my guy, kingda ka has more elements, it has an additional airtime hill, and there are like 2 on dragster, a top hat and a launch, kingda ka has those two, plus the hill, and kingda ka is taller and faster, however, ya I like dragster better because it only has a lap bar and not an OTS restraint

It's also smoother than Kingda Ka. Also, at least Dragster has lap bars. Anytime you wanna convert to lap bars Six Flags, let me know

I feel like cameras don’t really catch the thrill and how fast the ride truly is. Let me tell you when you ride this, you feel like your riding on a bullet. The ride itself feels like 5 seconds long.

Nothing else will ever match the absolute terror I felt pulling down that lap bar for the first time

My first time on it I got extream tunnel vision. Really fun. Had to ride it again to try to enjoy the brief view at the top.

I love roller coasters and I've been on most roller coasters at Cedar Point, but I felt fear looking at Top Thrill Dragster when I went to Cedar Point, I was like, "Maybe later... (NOPE!)"

for me in CA we have Xcelerator. Not as fast but higher acceleration rate. Top Thrill Dragster has 120 mph in 3.8s. That's 31.5789 mph increased every second. Xcelerator is 82 mph in 2.3s. That's 35.6521 mph increased every second.
When i was waiting in line this year, it broke down :c but ive rode it before and it was awesome
it broke down twice but they fixed it the second time in 5 minutes and let people on. so glad I didnt get out of line it was awesome!

This is the only rollercoaster that gets me anxious and after i ride it i feel pump like i want ride every rollercoaster in the world

so many things i have to say positive of cedar point, staff is mostly organized lines are efficient even with the amount of people they consume in the park, longest wait i had was one hour for steel vengeance, all rides max capacity trains running, dual boarding platforms on high capacity rides, all positives. as of top thrill dragster i would ride any day over king da ka i waited over 4 hours to ride kinda da ka due to ride breakdowns and only 45 minutes for dragster, dragster has lap bar restrains which is way much better feel than over the shoulder restraints on king da ka, just to quote, I am not trashing the other i just like this much better, overall i would highly recommend cedar fair parks any day over any six flags park in almost every category. there both good just this is better in my opinion , and just to note i didn't even have a fast lane band

It needs the RADAR back on the hill telling you that you're going 120mph+ . First year riding front seat, 123mph, up and over with stuff floating out of my shirt pocket. Got everything corraled, got back to start. Glassed were foggy, looked and found misquito plastered to them. That would have hurt.
This ride is broke down more than it runs. The locals at Cedar Point even said so. We drove 2 states just to ride Top Thrill Dragster, and alas, it was down. We saw a maintenance crew sitting down on the track until a supervisor walked up. We went to guest services and complained, we paid $300.00 for two Fast Lane passes, and 3 of the 5 feature rides weren't in operation because of maintenance issues and faults. Cedar Point refunded us $100.00 back to our card.

Ka is rougher to TTD,
OTSRs are not as good as Lap Bars,
Even the presentation.
I personally don't think either copied the other, the strata coaster was the only way to get to 400 feet at the time, and still is besides the poker coaster which I don't think will happen.

Ive done the front before. This is the best 20 seconds of any ride in the world. Even though it's so short, it's just the best! This coaster is getting older and will need to be redone eventually. It's not as smooth as it used to be. but i'm here to tell ya, don't sleep on this!

I was actually needing my big boy shorts to muster it up before getting on Top Thrill as much a coaster freak I am . Seeing the ride being launched is always a spectacle . At 2:05 , thats the moment “ entire life flash before my eyes “ and everything is a blur . Amazing legendary ride it is .

literally two years late here, but you just can’t freak yourself out! i nearly had a panic attack just waiting to be launched but it’s an amazing experience that’s totally worth it and the adrenaline rush is like nothing else
The mental game waiting part of the launch is the most nerve wrecking part of this ride . Breathe and just embrace and keep head back and arms down and you will feel a surreal feeling once it’s done . Always such a high and profound moment when you conquer a coaster you been dreading . Took me 5 visits before I got on the Dragster !

I've always asked myself, on these strata coasters, instead of having a hill at the top, can they make the track go upside down instead?
But what'all happen if it stops for a bit and rolls back? Imagine the amount of hangtime. And if it just stops at the top? That happened before on this ride. But it'll be cool.
+Spinkicker if it were to go upside-down then it would be less affected by wind, and also the car would be at a lesser height so it would make it over the top easily.
They make a smaller version of a strata coaster
An inverted top hat would be cool, but I don't see it happening anywhere near 400 feet high.
Storm Runner at Hersheypark is a smaller accelerator with 3 inversions - it has a top hat element similar to Dragster's, just not as tall

You will have too to keep it legal and safe, but you could sneak it on boards which isn't that hard.

No this ride is safe and we have a lap bar and seatbelt the only thing you should be worried about is a roll back but don't think a bout it to much

Are you stupid!? You have lap restraints that are locked and a seatbelt just in case the restraint unlocks
The restraints are tight plus there's a strap that goes on you under the lap bar. You'll be fine uless you weigh too much or too little.
I feel like Cedar Point could've done so much more with this ride instead of waste all that kinetic energy after the main hill.

With the lab bar on, it's normally impossible to leave the seat. A lot of rollercoasters double up and also have you wear a seatbelt under the lap bar so it's double impossible to leave the seat when you aren't meant to.
+Electifried So even though u only have a seat belt and a lap bar to keep ur bottom planted in the seat, both the drop and the ascend won't cause u to fly out.

You can see what I mean if you have a desk/table and a chair. Scoot the chair as close to the desk as possible while you're sitting in it and attempt to stand up and walk away without moving the chair. The table in this example is functioning the same way the lapbar does in keeping you seated.

Yes, no way to fall out. If people could fall out, they would fall out and then their families would sue and Cedar Point would close. There is no falling out.
