- Hiya everyone! Welcome to "Two Weeks of Tuesdays"! This is the belated 4th video related to the Tuesday Taylor doll by Ideal and in this one we are unboxing not one but TWO vintage celebrity dolls by Tristar Toys: Marilyn Monroe from The Seven Year Itch and Elizabeth Taylor from Butterfield 8. We will also be taking a look at dolls from How to Marry a Millionaire and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.

You finally got around to these!!!! 😉 I would often look at these in your Dolly room and ask about them. Interesting to know that they have the Tuesday Taylor bodies, and of the history of the company, which explains how they ended up with the Tuesday Taylor molds. Yes! They do look scary! Almost drag-queen-ish! Liz DOES look like Frank-N-Furter!!! LOL 🤪Love Elizabeth Taylor's Butterfield 8 Little Black Dress! (I'm stealing that for my vintage gals! 😜) Funny that they made a doll about that character as she was kinda tawdry... (OMG!!!!! Look at those bazoongas!!! LOL 😜) I love the opening scene of that movie where she gets insulted by the guy whom she slept with leaving her $250 and she angrily scrawls 'No Sale' with her lipstick on a mirror! Though I guess Bild Lilli was also a 'good time girl' so that makes sense! LOL Oooohhh yesss!!!! More shoe options for Tuesday!!!! 😛 (The Cher shoes fit Tuesday's tootsies, too.... and they came in lots of colours, though they are also very limited in styling.) I didn't know that you had the other dolls in the collection.... I think I only remember seeing two!!!!! Can't wait to see your Tuesdays wear their fabby new shoes!!!
I had the Marilyn in the gentleman prefer blondes dress as a kid, found her at a flea market. Tbh I loved her, but thought she was oddly proportioned compared to my other barbies, so she got to hang out with my mego Farrah and Wonder Woman. I love finding remolds of doll bodies, and always knew they were taking some of tuesday Taylor’s parts. Just like how hasbro made jem with kenners darci body. Which I heard that the same designer worked on darci also worked on jem. So that made sense. This is a wonderfully random video which brought back memories of a doll I used to treasure as a kid. Side note the tristar wire arms aren’t as sturdy as Tuesdays and the wire will snap lol happened to my Marilyn when I was a kid. They’re about as thick as beauty secrets barbies. Which I’m always worried about breaking
I grew up obsessed with Marilyn Monroe and I was a very small child when I got this doll as my first Marilyn Monroe doll and her seven-year itch outfit. I still own this doll even though she's missing one of her hands. I did buy one in the gold dress from Seven Year Itch a couple years ago but for some reason I never knew they made an Elizabeth Taylor version so off to eBay I go to find one for myself! I do agree the face sculpts leave something to be desired. You're right saying that Liz Taylor looks like she's from Rocky horror and Marilyn looked more like a man doing drag queen Marilyn then actually like Marilyn Monroe but I love them and will buy them all
What is it that made you obsessed with her? I love it when people hang on to their childhood dolls. I am sure you could replace her hand if you ever wanted to fix her up. I am in the same boat, not the prettiest dolls but they are quite special in their own way 😊❤️
@@DeanReen even as a young girl her life story made me sad. I watched Marilyn The untold story with Catherine Hicks when I was like 5 and that was all she wrote. I was obsessed with learning more and had to buy every book and watch all her movies and all the interviews I could find. I feel so bad for her. And I have a few dolls from when I was a kid including the Steffie face Spanish Barbie, a couple of my Jem dolls and 2 Darci dolls.

Hi Dean, I remember the Elizabeth Taylor one. We all thought in my family that she looked like Boy George. But this Liz does look like Frank N Furter too. I saw her in Jacks, never the Marilyn one though I have seen her since. I might get the Elizabeth Taylor one if I can find a deal. I bet they are expensive as they are more then 30 years old now.
Hello! ❤️ Oh! I can see Boy George too! without the hair of course. They were rather pricey but from memory it was mainly due to the international postage. I am sure they aren't too bad as you are in the US.

Wow, didn't know about those dolls. But I wouldn't have been searching for dolls of either actress because I just don't collect those. Though both were incredibly beautiful and talented. I agree with Dolls and more, the Marilyn Monroe doll DOES look just like a cheap blow-up sex doll in it's face. That literally was the first thing I thought when I saw it. It's truly awful looking, but could be fun decor for a Ken doll bachelor party. 😉 Those dolls are a bit pricey to buy just for the shoes, though you get the clothes and they're not too bad and the bodies. Which you could use for a sexier doll OOAK in future if you wanted, or for parts to repair a broken Tuesday Taylor. So I guess that makes them a bargain figuring all that into the low price.
Since you sew really beautiful vintage looking outfits. If you ever wanted to create your own shoes you can do some great looking shoes for dolls out of very little. Like thin cereal box cardboard covered in paint, glitter, or scrapbook paper. I know it sounds cheap looking, but it turns out better looking than it sounds. I also subscribe to MyFroggyStuff's channel, and she has an older video all about making your own shoes and how-to. It can save a lot of money and gives you the ability to do a lot of strappy sandal styles yourself in different colors or styles. Happy Halloween Dean! 🎃

There were many questionable choices taken with these, but the painting of the faces is surprisingly good and it is what makes them still have any kind of resemblance despite the terrible sculpts...
I would try and repaint them and turn them into Tuesday's boozy aunts or the sleazy next door lady... XDDDD
Love the bowling ball breasts they gave them, not for the characters but it's so over the top it's quite comedic...
Agreed! They paint job is perfect. I haven't seen any wonky faces and this is before pixelation. The lines are crisp and the paint is so rich. I want to know who sculpted these and what they were aiming to achieve. I have the feeling they were having a lot of fun with these.

I literally threw these dolls out today! So ugly and useless as donors 😭 I tried dying one to match TT and she turned bright green! Everything else I dyed came out tan except her. So weird 😐

😆😆😆 I remember seeing these in toy stores, they're so horrible! The Marilyn doll is especially disappointing. ET might be salvaged with some restyling, but MM is a lost cause. Interesting that they have the TT body with a bigger bust. How weird!
Oh dear 😂 It would have been terrifying to see all of them on a shelf. They are extremely disappointing. It almost seems they were aiming for something ridiculous. Like, the breasts are practically basketballs! 😬
The Elizabeth Taylor doll is cute, but the hair is bothersome. She does kinda resemble Dr. Frank N Furter.
Now i can't unsee it.
And her neck is really short and thick.
She's looking more like a drag queen, the more i look at her.
i feel like she should have been displayed with a fur coat though.
The fur coat is what makes the "Butterfield 8" look in my opinion.
i'm disappointed that it didn't come with a dark chocolate-brown fur coat.
Marilyn is just pitiful. She looks more like a caricature than a tribute doll.
i imagine that the dresses and shoes will come in handy though.

Hahaha, I'm sorry. But I actually like that she is Frank N Furter! Yes, I forgot to mention the short thick necks. I wish they had the same skin tone as Tuesday so I could swap the bodies. I think that would make a world of difference. I have never seen the film, but a fur coat would have been amazing! But i guess they had to cut costs somewhere. I am going to try and sell the dolls in a lot and if that doesn't work I will simply donate them. Hahaha, and yes, the balloon smell is awful!
